Thanks Leo!
Steve - so many Americans claimed to have kicked British ass that it is hardly a distinction. American foundation mythology disguises the fact that without French help you would have lost!

There are 4 London players I know of that have been members of this forum in the last couple of years:
IcyFirefly
kiritimati
SpitfirED
Moltke the Youngest
If you check their member pages you will discover whether they still visit the forum and even if not they may have included their e-mail address. If that does not help feel free to drop me a PM as I have the email for a couple of them.
If you ever fancy a trip up to Derbyshire to join us at the Battle of Britain, then let me know.
Cheers

@NoahHarvey said in I need advice!:
Yes we are playing 1941 so @Sgt-Smith i would love to buy tanks every turn but they cost 6 IPC.
Tanks are a valuable unit, given that they move 2 and can get from Berlin to the front more quickly. They also carry an attacking punch that can bring a victory with fewer losses.
They are expensive to lose, however, so ideally any attack should include enough infantry as cannon fodder.
Also consider this:
So yes - tanks are good in an attacking stack, but always make sure you have lots of inf too.

@barnee Do you mean their A&A game?! :game_die:
Can anyone explain what a combat hit differential of -5 actually means? Leo has tried but I am too thick to understand his accented English.
I hope you guys can get something going in London. Perhaps one day we can have a London vs Derbyshire WAR! :v:
@Avacado I hope that you are enjoying the game! Factories (or Industrial Centres) are where you mobilise (or build) new units. If an enemy captures one you immediately lose the ability to build there and they gain the opportunity to do so in the following turn.
@barnee We could do with a beer, beer and more beer-focused quartermaster. Perhaps you would like to volunteer?
I am not in this game and yet I see Wittman is still addressing his inane comments to me! What do I have to do to lose him?
Hi Rob
Each quarterly BoB date is organised six months in advance for whichever Sunday option most of our regular players can make. The next two are on 20 Oct and 12 Jan, as publicised in the Events forum here.
At the BoB we play a mix of 42.2, Anniversary and 1914, a game of each being the ideal. A room full of A&A players laughing, cheering and screaming (as the moment dictates) is rather a joy!
Don’t worry if you do not know these versions. If you know one A&A game we can easily show you the others.
My friend in Manchester owns 1936 not me. I didn’t know there was anything other than the big HBG version, so I will say that is what it is! I am up there with him on Saturday and will try to remember to ask. He is in the south west suburbs.
Cheers
Adam
@Washington66 Yes Wash. The starting income level for each Power is in the bank at the start. :relaxed:
@Wittmann @barnee If Leo overcomes his fear of heights, inability to navigate and blindness I will just have to change the venue without telling him!
@redrum Hehehe! At least I can stop buying ships now. My Turkish allies can fight their own naval war!
@Dran-Black Hey Rob! Spoke to my friend in Manchester as promised. He is currently considering expanding our games group to include a fourth person, despite the space constraints in his games attic. However, there is a BoB player from the NW who has already expressed interest. If that does not work out he might well be in touch.
We were playing day 3 of a game of 1936. I am allies and lost London on day 1!!! Ruddy paratroopers! Communist China and Republican Spain are dead too. But the axis advance appears to have ground to a halt. We shall see ……
@barnee I would happily beam him over to you. On a one way ticket!
This could be one of the most one sided games of 1914 I have played. The CPs are making no progress despite our British pluck, derring-do and superior military nous. Are we letting these transatlantic ruffians get the better of us?:facepunch:
@barnee Are you volunteering to come over and help! We will watch!
@fatoumas said in A Genius First Move For Russia / 1941:
- Do you play with bid for allies? If yes what is the recommended one? 8-12? Do you suggest a destroyer for UK? If yes on SZ10 or SZ14?
We put a GB destroyer off Canada - so a bid of 8 really.
- At the end of R1 do you have 1 inf in Karelia and 1 inf on Caucasus? Most of the times i have everything on WR except 4 inf and 1 tank+ fighter in Caucasus.
You have to judge your opponent, but against a decent player I have nothing in either Karelia or Caucasus. It is all in WR.
- Do you move the 2 inf from siberia to Urals in order to get it with the rest land units? What i do is to have 1 inf in Siberia and move the other 2 with the rest.
I move them all back to Moscow.
But these moves are “conditioned” by the opponents I play.
Optimism rules OK! :hand_with_index_and_middle_fingers_crossed:
We will be playing on the 25th October. If coronavirus does not allow us to wage war face to face then the more addicted among us will play via Zoom.
Our face to face venue is in Derbyshire, UK.
Thus far we have 7 players, with space for another 6 at the venue. Those places will be allocated to those that come forward first. Since we have 8 regular players that have not yet responded it is possible that someone will be disappointed.
If anyone else wishes to join us then please either reply to this thread or drop me a PM.
(PS The Winter event will be on 7th February 2021)
