@Colt45554 What! That is the second time those nasty Russians have attacked my superior liberating forces in Finland and slaughtered me. 40% odds only, but again won by a country mile. :anguished: +32 TUV! :scream:

RE: Napoleon 19 France+20
There are now 8 of us: @redrum, @Entek , @Witt , @aequitas-et-veritas , @Degrasse , @Elrood , me & @FMErwinRommel .
@FMErwinRommel is new to this groups but has posted above asking to join in. Is every happen to welcome another player to our fold?
1914 has a lot of Powers, one possible allocation being:
Centrals:
- Germany
- Austria
- Turkey & Communists
Entente:
- Britain
- France & Serbia
- USA
- Arabia & Italy
- Russia
So shall we roll dice and choose our powers according to that split?

Summer Battle of Britain on 1st October 2023
The next Battle of Britain will be held on the 1st October 2023. Yes, I know that’s not summer, but diaries preclude an earlier date. Apologies to regular attendees. I anticipate the autumn event being held in early November and the winter one in January / February.
This all-day event is held in Derbyshire, UK. Typically we have up to three A&A games running - Anniversary, 1942.2 and 1914 - allowing players to decide which they wish to join.
If you would like to come along then please either reply to this thread or contact me using the Chat facility on this website.

It seems that I should rejoin to finish this game at least. Sorry, all, for my rude departure. Thx to FM for his apology.

This all-day event is held in Derbyshire, UK. Typically we have 8 to 12 players, meaning up to three A&A games running - Anniversary, 1942.2 and 1914 - allowing everyone to decide which they wish to join.
If you’d like to join us then please either reply to this thread or message me via this website.

RE: NML 1914 Team Game 12
Hi Guys. I have been away for a few days, but see there are messages in my inbox from my allies suggesting we concede, so I believe you are safe to assume we are doing so.
I would like to play in the next game.
I suggest we give France Propaganda at the start of the game.

RE: Hi everyone! New player from Southern UK!
@gnark1ll Hello and welcome to the forum. @Witt has already mentioned the Battle of Britain, which is a quarterly event open to all A&A players, so just get in touch with me if you want to know more.
I do have a list of A&A players across the UK and may be able to point you at players more local to you if you wish. Again - just get in touch.
Cheers
Adam / Private PanicP.S. In case there is some confusion we play A&A 1942, Anniversary and 1914 - not a game called Battle of Britain

Winter Battle of Britain - 27th January 2019 - See Battle Report
We have 7 attendees, so able to accommodate 3 additional players. Likely to play 2 games - being any of 1942.2, Anniversary or 1914.
We always have a laugh - even when the dice are going badly!
Event is held in Derbyshire, so just about as central to England as you can get.
Anyone interested in joining us should reply to this thread or PM Private Panic.
(P.S. The Spring event will be on 24th March)

RE: What are you reading
A Perfidious Distortion of History by Jurgen Tampke
Found this a very interesting read. It attempts to dismantle the often accepted view that the Versailles peace treaty was so damaging that it lead directly to WW2. I did not find every argument advanced by Mr Tampke convincing, but there is a lot of worthwhile argument and analysis, covering the causes of WW1, the subsequent peace and so the causes of WW2. The general conclusion is that Versailles - being so very much less onerous than treaties imposed by Germany on its defeated enemies - did not deal with the underlying causes of European conflagration, allowing those to come to the fore again.
For anyone interested, here is The Times review of this book:

RE: Larry Harris Semi-Official Tournament Game Patch
Hmmmm.
There is no reason to delete this thread. The opening post advising of the Tournament set up is of value here. And we are at liberty to discuss that topic.
But in doing so we now know that we are merely entertaining ourselves rather than having any influence, much as we might wish it otherwise. Thanks to Kreighund for making that clear so that those who wish to be heard can post on Larry’s website. Argothair’s argument that it only takes a click (or two) cuts both ways.

RE: tanks in A&A 1914 - What is the value?
@Faramir Having earlier in this thread doubted the value of tanks I would not go as far as Faramir. They do have a value, which is to reduce casualties when in attack. If they accompany an infantry / artillery stack for two attacks they have recovered their cost.
Plus that reduced casualties can be vital to sustaining forward movement while reinforcements lag behind, as already noted above.

@Panther Thanks old chap. Much appreciated.

RE: Kill Italy First - An Alternative Central Powers Strategy
Interesting. Not something I have tried but I can see the argument that the capture of Rome is achievable, perhaps more so than Moscow given the number of units Russia can consolidate at the start of the game.
My doubt is holding on to Rome as the USA arrives and Turkey struggles against the UK.
Something new to try! Thanks for sharing. :slightly_smiling_face:
