This could happen even before Germany declares war on Russia. If Japan leaves Korea unprotected on J1 or 2 and you take it with the 18 inf, the AA and land some ANZAC or UK planes there, you’d be crazy not to build an IC there, could be a gamechanger

RE: Russia collect money question RE: Manchuria?
Thats why you should take Korea. If you can hold it for 1 turn because the Japs are out of range you can land a few Anzac fighters there from the Carolines and build an IC, drop some subs in SZ6

RE: 1951 - endgame: any suggestions?
Me too, JPN is a sitting duck and Germany is not in range to help them out

RE: Carrier question! Anybody plz (OR KREIG!)
A US fighter on Gibraltar is the only plane in range of the 10 new transports of Germany “safely” built in SZ113 behind the Danish strait. Denmark is defended with 10 inf.
The US fighter moves 5 and sinks the transports under the assumption that UK on its turn will (i) with 1 transport and 1 inf attack and take Denmark in combat movement against all odds and (ii) move its AC from 110 to 113 in NCM to provide a landing spot for the fighterAre we saying this is a legal move?

RE: Major IC in Romania G1
True, but only under the assumption that you will build inf in Rom, which doesnt make sense - if you build mechs in Rom they reach Moscow faster than mechs from Germany
-
RE: Major IC in Romania G1
the Russians can’t declare war on Germany though so that’s an unlikely scenario plus if they would take it, it would convert to a minor
-
RE: Major IC in Romania G1
Don’t think I agree - the major in Romania you can jot down right at the start of the game
But minor IC’s on Russian territory take longer :1 turn to take the territory, 1 turn to build the IC, 1 turn to start production
And I think a minor in Rom is less efficient: for any kind of Barbarossa you will need more than 3 tanks a turn. Which means that with a minor in Rom you will in addition to the 3 tanks produced there produce units in Germany as well. The units in Germany will then lag behind (i) to your initial front stack and (ii) to the reinforcements from Rom. If that happens I see players build tanks in Rom and mechs in Germany, because they need the tanks fire power at the front faster. Your attacking force becomes unbalanced and your expensive unprotected tanks will get smashed by the Russki airforce

RE: Major IC in Romania G1
Big fan of this strategy - your ticket into Russia. I have heard people arguing that its only 1 step closer to Russia and that you can build 10 inf for the same price and move them up in the same time it takes to build the IC and then produce there, but I’ve seen it work in practice and the real difference is made with tanks and mechs that can reach moscow and stalingrad in 2 turns. It may not help your initial stack but it does resupply that initial stack almost wherever it is in Russia with 10 mechs/tanks a turn EVERY single turn. You have some tired guys catching their breath in Bryansk or Belarus - WHAm there’s 10 bright new shiny tanks right out of the factory

RE: How is the balance with the new Alpha 2 changes? Please give your view.
"I have looked. If you’d like to point out a specific example you have in mind, I can show you where I think the game was decided on either (a) fluke dice, or (b) Allied mistake, or ©, you’ll show me an Axis strategy that might really work. "
& you say you know logic

RE: 1951 - endgame: any suggestions?
I thought the complex in Iraq was where we were hiding the WMDs

RE: 1951 - endgame: any suggestions?
I see that the Allies have a combined income of 209 IPCs and the Axis 161

RE: Is it an unprovoked declaration of war if Japan attacks UK forces in Yunnan (Chi
Ok thanks alot.
So just for my understanding: without any Japanese DOW to UK, ANZAC or US, the US may declare war in the collect income phase of US3.
With such a declaration, or if London/a North American territory is captured, the US may declare war on the combat move phase of the US turn following a Japanese DOW.
And an attack on Russia by any of Japan/Germany/italy does not influence the US DOW right ? -
RE: Is it an unprovoked declaration of war if Japan attacks UK forces in Yunnan (Chi
Second Question (alpha2):
If Japan attacks UK or ANZAC before US3, does that allow US to declare war on Germany in its next collect income phase? -
RE: Egyptian Lockdown
No need to buy the airbase on UK1 - with only 12 ipc spent on Egypt G1 you can still build some defending units in the UK and sit out Germany’s reaction before you buy the airbase Uk2. If Germany decides to change strategy as you say, it still has to buy the carrier so thats already 2+ transports less. Plus it would have moved all land units towards Russia on G1 so it will have to move everything back spending 2 moves on useless NCMs. Those are exactly the kind of delays that will lose the game for the Axis.
-
RE: Egyptian Lockdown
I think this is a really strong move in case Germany opts for Barbarossa instead of Sealion (which I think is the better move in the long run for Germany). Since UKs turn is after Germany’s, this is easy enough to spot. And even if an IPC on Egypt would work as a magnet (decoy?) for the Axis, its only 12 IPCs and keeps them busy for a few turns, enabling UK to retain its Med fleet and hold Africa and Gibraltar until the US arrives.

RE: G1 Total BLITZKRIEG.
I attack Russia on G2 and on G1 attack SZ 109, 111, 112 and 91 but not SZ110. 109 and 91 with only subs looking for a lucky break
Land 2 fighters on Rome, take Finland and Bulgaria and build major IC on Rom. I take out Normandy and take some chances against France, because Italy can also finish the job.
I take out the Russian fleet on G2 and attack all Russian territories in range. I don’t like to make an amphibious assault on leningrad though, just a waste of ipcs on TTs to be honest.
i have never tried the G1 attack, but i like the idea! suppose you then have to use some planes against the Russian fleet that you can not use against the UK

RE: Sealion alpha 2+
Apparently turns are different from rounds :)
http://www.axisandallies.org/forums/index.php?topic=22079.msg741512#msg741512So you can scramble
Maybe his fgts were on a mission in Russia though -
RE: Sealion alpha 2+
Didn’t he scramble his fighters? Like the idea though
-
RE: G1 Total BLITZKRIEG.
With the Baltic strait closed, no TT and hardly any ground troops, what is the UK gonna do for the first few rounds? & the US can only land US5.
As Germany, you need to take advantage of that timeframe by taking Moscow.
I rather not take Yugoslavia and/or SZ 111/110 than delay barbarossa
