Haven’t touched the AA miniatures for about a year, but I could get back into it. As long as you allow beer of course

RE: Phoenix, AZ
Still seems tough to find many players in the Phoenix area. Got a couple going so far, need some more with hosting capability

RE: AZ Players: Gathering All AZ Players
I’d love to join in, in the Phoenix area.

RE: Anyone in Sedona, AZ?
Sedona’s a throw too far for me… I’m up for games near Phoenix, however

RE: Tucson, AZ: Looking for players
I just moved to the Phoenix area, willing to travel 30 min (I live near Morristown) if people have a group. Anyone?

RE: Arizona. Unleash your desert fox! G40
I’m actually in Phoenix, now. You still north of Yuma? Too far for me.

Phoenix, AZ
Many topics invoked by search are a few years old, so I figured I’d start a new one. Looking for Phoenix area gamers to play some A&A, I have a wide allowance for distance but cannot host. Would prefer a home location to a business (especially if we can bring beer). Any takers?

RE: Arizona. Unleash your desert fox! G40
I’ll be near Yuma in a couple weeks, would like a regular gaming group (even 3 or 4 people) about twice a month. Willing to travel up to about an hour to make that happen. Interested in forming a group using craigslist or Meetup?

RE: New jersey: looking for players
There is a meetup group in Glassboro that plays, if you don’t mind the drive. I’ve played with them, they’re cool people. They often play double-blind games, which are pretty exciting.

RE: .
In that case, Borneo is only lightly defended. I have had the Brits take that every now and then, because it can be taken without much of a problem. That East Indies bit sounded crazy, I had a move similar to that smash a much larger Japanese fleet of mine. It is still difficult, with taking that transport out in Kwangtung, for Japan to get those islands back quickly.

RE: Triple A -Global 1940 Map???
They’ve said they had to rewrite a lot of Java code to make that happen. Air/naval bases and convoy disruptions do not function in the current build, if I recall correctly.

RE: Most viable turn to declare war as the Axis
Of course the Allies would take that opportunity, I’m talking about diving head first G5 into Russia, as opposed to moving in earlier. I wasn’t very clear on that part, sorry. G5 is the earliest the Germans can do that while maxing out their not at war bonus, because it’s highly likely the Russians will DOW on R4.

RE: Most viable turn to declare war as the Axis
It’s not just the income of the U.S. that can be a pain - in my last game, a turn 3 DOW by Japan allowed America to retake England after it was held by the Germans for a turn, that turn. Yeah, obviously they’d have waited just one more turn, but that DOW allows them to act sooner than the Axis would like them to. That being said, I wouldn’t declare before turn 3, probably ever, including Barbarossa. I’m curious about waiting until turn 5 (unless I have some really good targets of opportunity) and seeing how that works out for me.

RE: Can't win a Global game with Sea Lion
As a few posts have said, a G2 sealion is, in my opinion, a better bet (if it can be done). No money lost on transports, UK money can go towards rebuilding that airforce, and Germany can allocate all G2 funds, as well as future turns, to Russia. UK collects no income, Africa falls to any competent Italian player. The inability for the UK to produce in South Africa is extreme. Two turns or more of lost UK income seems worthwhile for ~60 ipcs of German aircraft. It just seems defending London, especially at less than 10 ipc territory value, just isn’t worth it, when you know the Americans can snatch it back.

RE: Can't win a Global game with Sea Lion
I just participated in a few global games, both that had a sucessfult sealion G2. I played Japan in one, and watched the other game.
UK was undaunted by a single German transport in my game, and the German airforce plus a bombardment from a battleship and cruiser were enough to take the UK on G2. A single German tank and 1 bomber survived. In the other game, the situation was similar, though the UK player had less defending England at the time.
The results went both ways:
In my game, the German player left the tank defending England, knowing that the U.S. would be able to retake London no matter what he put there. Of course he could slow the U.S. by fortifying, but the IPC gain from the UK, plus the IPC loss from England collecting no money until round 4 he considered enough of a victory to be content losing England, instead spending his money on rebuilding his airforce, and submarines (along with some Italian naval power) to help control the Atlantic, as well as ground forces to invade Russia.
In the other game, Germany heavily defending London… by the time America was in the war, Germany had nearly 20 infantry in England, as well as other troops.
The reults? Well, in my game, Tthe U.S. completely ignored my Japanese, allowing me to fight the pacific battle unopposed. UK Pac did a fine job trying to liberate China, but it was only a matter of time before I overpowered them. The U.S. was ready and able to retake London, but not before the superior German numbers were standing on Moscow’s door. The game was eventually called in favor of the Axis after the fall of Africa and all but Moscow. The U.S. fleet was hammered by about 8 submarines (all lost) and many aircraft (all survived).
The other game - the U.S. committed heavily to both theaters, challenging the Jap fleet in the Pacfic, and building a sizable landing force in Europe. The Atlantic force was quite patient, allowing Germany to build in the UK. What do they do? Go straight for France and Berlin, ignoring London. The Russians were able to push forward as well, as the Germans spent too much in trying to hold London itself. This game ended with an Allied victory.

RE: Are these moves illegal?
Oh, and there is no problem sharing a U-boat space with Germany. Just as long as its not next to Europe/Africa, of course.
-
RE: Are these moves illegal?
1 and 4 are both illegal for the reasons you gave. No neutral country may activate a pro-neutral, either. So that US1 move to Brazil cannot happen. With 1, your explanation of the DEI is correct. The US can only take them for itself if the Japs got them first, otherwise, they’re merely liberated (though the UK/ANZAC may move in there to collect them, still)
2 and 3, though, are allowed. The US can’t enter the land territory, but its fleet may go where it pleases in the Pacific, as the rulebook states the US had more interests there, even if that SZ is adjacent to an ally/enemy. This is probably a risky move, at best, though because a thinly spread American fleet is a juicy reason for a Jap DOW. So, while in Europe, the Americans can’t be adjacent to a territory, the rule in the Pacific is not the same.

RE: Transports transports transport questions
1 Yes
2 No - once a transport unloads, its turn is over, so you may only unload into a single territroy.
3 Yes - unescorted by a surface warship, that is. The sub gets a shot at 2 or less.
4 Yes - you may ignore the transport to get your bombardment, or start a battle to sink it, just not both.
