Mechanized and motorized infantry were developed to be a combined arms force and to counteract infantry with AT guns and infantry held weapons like piats and bazookas. What about giving the mech infantry in AAP40 +1 when paired with armour? And to counteract the worry that artillery won’t be built, allow mech infantry to tow artillery, simulating the mounting of artillery on half-tracks and self-propelled artillery. This would probably require a mech infantry cost of 5. Any comments?

WWII shows that most countries who were attacked by Germany lost pretty badly. Thank Russia for saving the world!
You mean thank Russia for saving themselves. What countries did they liberate?
East Germany, Czechoslovakia, Poland, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, just to name a few. Oh yeah, Latvia, Estonia, a chunk of Finland.
Taking for yourself does not qualify as being liberating. All they did was change the conquering nation.
Please go back to the original. I was being sarcastic. I even said that. It was a joke!
I was just trying to be like your class.
I laughed out loud! I believe that’s lol.

RE: Idea for US
The Americans building British (or Soviet units) and placing them in the US is a great idea. It could easily be a House Rule. Remember the US “traded” 50 WWI DDs to the UK for naval bases. Lots of equipment got funneled through Canada even before Lend Lease was official. The US congress adopted a cash and carry policy in September, 1939, in which war material was sold to the Allies. It required the buying nation to pick up the war material in an American port so that the belligerent nation assumed the risk of German U-boats. This was replaced by Lend-Lease in March of 1941, in particular because China didn’t have ready cash. Lend-lease continued throughout the war. The UK also provided lend-lease on a lessor scale and Canada provided lend-lease to the UK, on a much lessor scale. Lend-lease could be a general rule, not just one that just applied to the US. (Canada also provided lend-lease to the Soviets.)

Canadian skating infantry :

What happens when they go on the power play?
We beat the Americans for Gold! As the Canadian troops in Afghanistan put it: “Brothers in arms, but not on the ice!”

The reality is that like it or not the Soviets won a war of attrition and would have eventually taken Berlin, with or without the western front. However, this is straying away from the topic: the best looking roundels on the board! -

I obviously didn’t figure out the “quote thingy”. My post was a reply to BD’s comment. Now, I’ve doubled my number of posts!

RE: Why are there Canadian roundels? A new rule perhaps?
The difference is the Dutch start out as a neutral, while Canada was a belligerent from the beginning. Given that however, Canada, while the government trumpeted independence, was fully integrated militarily within the British forces. So were the Australians, New Zealanders, South Africans and Indians in North Africa. It wasn’t until Japan attacked beyond China that the situation changed for the Pacific Commonwealth Nations. Other than the First Special Services Brigade (Devil’s Brigade), no Canadian units ever operated outside of the British command structure. Therefore, it would be ahistorical for Canada to be a separate power. I say this reluctantly, as a Canadian patriot, who got hooked on wargaming while serving in the Canadian military in the 1970s. It would be far more realistic to have the split income idea, than a separate player. As for the roundels, Canadian and Dutch and others, I think they are just there for historical colour and have no real impact on the game. Note: I always designate units as “Canadian”, by using a different colour or marking them, just because I can. Also, I use Canadian spellings like honour and colour just because I can. Ps. As this is my first post, I hope I figured out the quote thingy.
