So I get this straight, to roll the dice you put in:
:@@@ x@y;
or
:@@@ x@y:
Panzerjager said colon on the end, meaning the : symbol. While Calvinhobbesliker says semicolon, meaning the ; symbol. Which is it?

I’ll post the disposition of all my forces at the end of my turn. If there is a problem with anything, respond and we’ll figure it out. If everything is ok, then the next player can start their turn, and so on.
I’ll give SgtBlitz until noon, and then I’ll start.
SgtBlitz is tending to be active here from 9AM to Noon or so…so I’m still waiting. We’ll get the game started tomorrow for sure.
Ok, on attacker rolling defenders die.
Okay. I was looking forward to starting it today
I can tell!;-)

Ok, no tech. Lets wait a bit to hear on what everyone wants to do on the die rolling.
SgtBlitz and I are still strategizing, but almost done…in the mean time one of you can start the PBT.
What’s PBT?
I think everyone agrees that attacker rolls all dice. That’s way, you don’t generally have to have your opponent be online.
Sorry, I mean PBF.
We might as well wait to see what players think about die rolling while I wait to finish up with SgtBlitz.

One more question…is the attacker going to roll for his own units and the defender? This would really speed things up, but we might have a problem with taking casualties.
I think I prefer everyone make their own rolls…but I’m willing to do what the majority decides.
Can I assume everyone is in favor of playing with no techs for this first game? I think that does make sense.
SgtBlitz…probably you and I need to have a private e-mail conversation about our strategies before we begin. I prefer we both discuss and advise each other’s moves, plans, etc…as the game goes on. I’ve played AAP40 quite a bit, so I can warn you, etc…
Well, if you’re ready you can post G1 now so Dany can study it before making Russia’s move.
Thats not a bad idea, but I would want Dany and the rest of the Allies to be ok with that.
Also, can you give me the order of play?…I’ve seen it, but did’nt write it down.
We also need to debate/vote on using tech. Is anyone opposed or in favor of tech? I’m neutral as of now.
We could have someone play Italy if one more wants to join.
And how is this going to work? We post moves, roll on the forum (how does that work) and then posts lists of our tropps in the end of each turn? Also the order in witch to take casulties are not as clear now as be4, whenever there are mecs and art involved there might be a problem.
My thought on Italy is that since most of us have played Japan in AAP40, it would be more interesting for the Japanese player in this game to get a taste of the new AAE40 game as well. If SgtBlitz wants to give up Italy or Japan to someone, he can…but I’ll leave that up to him. One caveot I have though, is that if SgtBlitz keeps Japan and gives up Italy to someone, I would like that someone playing Italy to understand and agree with the Axis Sea Lion strategy.
I plan on doing some practice rolls before the game starts;-)
Yes, we talk on this forum and this thread right here(build, move, etc…) until the combatants are ready to roll. If anyone has any questions including rules along the way, or about anything else, we answer/settle it. I dont play a “tight” game(ie…you can re-do your moves/builds, etc…), but we do have a rule here in our groups in S. Florida that once you roll for something, you dont go back past that point…I suggest we do the same here.
The non-phasing player gets the opportunity to say which units he losses. I think we understand sometimes its better to take a more expensive loss if it means it will accomplish a mission, or for other reasons.
As for when we begin…Dany said he has final exams at the moment and preferred to begin next week. Maybe Dany can tell us what day would be good for him? Also, there are a couple days coming up that I will not be available (August 21-25…it might only be Aug. 23-25 depending)…we have elections Aug. 24 and I’m working on a campaign.
Are all the countries accounted for yet?
Yes:
miamibeach: Germany
Dany: USSR/China
Panzerjager: UK
SgtBlitz: Italy/Japan
Calvinhobbesliker: US/France
Lord Nielson: ANZAC
@Lord:
Id be happy to join as Anzac!
Not having a battlemap module makes it a bit difficult, but i guess it could work if you just post a list of your units after each round.
It does mean each player have to keep track of all the units though.
Lord Nielsen, you are in as ANZAC!
Yes, we’ll do back and forth posts after every round of battle.
Everyone will be keeping track of units…so if there is a descrepancy we can check with each other, as well as going back through the forum messages if we need to.
Its great that we can use the die roller here in the forum. I’m going to make a copy of a couple of the high-res maps(the global one and the one that shows the western hemisphere connections), and use my friend’s vast collection of AA pieces.
I think we need to have a debate and vote on playing with techs…but at least one vote should be required from each side to pass. Personally, I am completely neutral on the idea.
So, you got 0 hits!;-)
Thank you for the demonstration! Can you let us know how we go about getting the die rolls on our posts like you did?
@Lord:
If you want an extra player i dont mind playing Anzac or Italy.
Probably ANZAC for sure. As for Italy I want to see what SgtBlitz prefers first. Thanks for your interest!
I dont mind at all. I have never played an internet game tho. How does it work?
SgtBlitz suggests there is a die roller program we can use at this site. If not, then there are many die rollers we can choose from on-line. We can pick one we all can use. Basically, we should all trade e-mails at some point when we are ready so the die roll reports come in to everyone. When a player makes his move, he can do it as a report to this thread. When he is ready to roll, he can specify what he is rolling for and have the on-line die roller send the die roll report to everyone’s e-mail. When a decision must be made by the non-phasing player…ie…scramble decisions from an island airbase, then the phasing player must inform the non-phasing player when the time comes before any die is rolled. We can do this in other ways too, I’m sure…so if anyone has ideas, please respond.
SgtBlitz…I think one of us should play Germany and the other Japan/Italy. Do you have a preference?
The Players:
miamibeach(Axis)
Dany(USSR/China)
Panzerjager(UK/ANZAC)
SgtBlitz(Axis)
Calvinhobbesliker(US/France)
In 1940 USSR did have some naval assets at Vlad, I think some subs and some lighter surface combat ships(CA’s or light CA’s).
If you think the Allies should get about 23 IPC’s worth of extra units, why not give the same amount to the Axis? I’m not endorsing any of this, but just wondering why.
Panzerjager…thanks for the link!
Ok, Calvinhobbesliker, your in.
We now have 5. Anyone else that wants to join can, but will be limited to a minor power.
Dany, do you mind being USSR/China?..or work something out with Panzerjager?
SgtBlitz, what do you want to do?
miamibeach(a Euro-Axis country)
Dany(Allies)
Panzerjager(Allies/UK)
SgtBlitz(Axis)
Calvinhobbesliker(US/France)
