      Well, the doctor that saves the life of the mother at the expense of the child would be considered a hero. The mother go on to live a full life, whereas the child has many more risks to death before the age of two (SIDS, Bad Infections, Accidents, Viruses, whatever. Adults just arnt as prone to death as children.) So there are times when an abortion may be required and not necessarily be a choice.

      The doctor that takes the lives of babies because it is an inconvenience, on the other hand, I do not consider heros and many people around the world do not consider them to be heros.

      But, the question was, do they think of themselves as “the good guy”? Sure. As I said with Ossama, you don’t do things that you think would make you the “bad guy”, you do things that, in your mind, are “right.”

      @Meijing:

      Why do I not see headlines every day on the frontpage speaking about all the wonders and majesty of how the USA has straightened up Iraq?

      oh come on - there is some reason. After all - look at that news footage of all of the Iraqis cheering at the toppled statue of Saddam :roll:

      I’m living in a country part of which wasn’t democratic for 40 years. And it wasn’t war or an ultimatum which brought the change. In fact the BRD (West Germany) recorgnized the DDR (East Germany) as a sovereign state and even lent money to it. On the contrary Cuba remains communistic despite a US embargo and military action.

      this is funny (not in the haha sense)
      I firmly believe that if the US took exactly the opposite direction with regards to Cuba for the last hundred years or so (i.e. with every fork in the road if it made a different choice) then things would be much different. The US chased Cuba into the arms of Russia making Castro choose a more communist road than he was prepared to go down. With each of the hostile maneuvers directed at Cuba and Castro, Cuba reacted against them (not with - surprising, eh?). What happened is that Canada and Spain are two of the few democratic/capitalistic nations who have Castro’s ear. The problem with this is that the carrot is not big enough yet.

      @Mary:

      @Jennifer:

      The Germans never attacked one US Citizen until after we pre-emptively attacked them, just like in Iraq.

      Lol, you’re so full of sh*t you must squeak. Germany and Italy declared war on the U.S. on Dec. 11, 1941.

      Now Mary, i fully understand your feeling. I’m boycotting any further debate w/ Jen just begin to try to avoid degenerating into insults. You may consider the same
      Anyway - you are correct. Following Canadian spy-master William Stephenson’s leaking of the false/putative “rainbow war plans” of the US suggesting that the US was to declare war against Germany, Germany pre-emptively declared war against the US. This forced the hand of the US:

      To the Congress of the United States:

      On the morning of Dec. 11 the Government of Germany, pursuing its course of world conquest, declared war against the United States. The long-known and the long-expected has thus taken place. The forces endeavoring to enslave the entire world now are moving toward this hemisphere. Never before has there been a greater challenge to life, liberty and civilization. Delay invites great danger. Rapid and united effort by all of the peoples of the world who are determined to remain free will insure a world victory of the forces of justice and of righteousness over the forces of savagery and of barbarism. Italy also has declared war against the United States.

      I therefore request the Congress to recognize a state of war between the United States and Germany, and between the United States and Italy.

      Iraq would never have become a democracy on its own. it wont necessarily become one now. it is a possibility though, unlikely as it may be, it is a possibility.

      Locked, this is just going in circles and getting a little personal….

      Oh btw:

      And how do you know how the story is supposed to read? You don’t buy into any part of the Bible, but you are an expert on it?

      I’m actually quite fascinated with the Bible. I’ve read the King James version through a few times, and done a lot of research on the creation and symbolism behind the book. So yes, when it comes to history I’m fairly well versed in the Bible.

      @Deviant:Scripter:

      It’s not just Presdential candidates that are ignorant and misinformed, Gary Coleman doesn’t even think he should HAVE to know who the VP is as governor of California!

      It’s probably a good thing he didn’t get elected, then. 😉

      Take my advice on this subject. If you are in the military.

      Only critzise your leaders in secret, never outloud. I know sounds unfair but believe me. Don’t do it in public you may be asking for a world of trouble.

      Unless you a civilian. Then of course blast a away. IN PUBLIC AND VERY LOUDLY!!!

      You can’t let morale go down in a combat zone!!

      But in a civilian setting that is a differnet story. Go ahead and say what ever you want it’s a free country.

      eh, the *war has come to an end. and for the most part there is peace. but what is peace? i mean do you call Down town LA Peace? as far as im concerned Peace is the Presence of Justice combined with the absence of Confilct. so no i do not think there is Peace in Iraq, however although like 90% of the Populace of Iraq is with us, i think in the long run US support is going to fall. and if we make alot of mistakes and things take too long we may be in a world of S**t.

      just my thoughts.

      I was talking about the infantry only example. x=1.4Y, not sure why you guys thought I was talking about anything else. My x=2Y was merely an example

      Like I said, x=1.4Y or 1/6x=1.4/6 Y or 2X=2.8Y
