RE: Failure start for G1
Advice: Don’t get drunk and make bets! Haha…
Should be interesting. Are you able to collect your income and use it the next turn, or just basically skip Germanys first turn and G1 will really be G2. I think you’ll still be fine, It won’t make much of a difference in my opinion.

RE: Fake sealion
Yeah that sounds interesting too. Seems like it would be more difficult to do on the western U.S. only because theres normally a strong Navy present at all times, in the games I play anyway.
He’s focused all his money for America on the Pacific which is why it I think this is going to work. The U.K. might swarm me, they’ve got 2 fighters and 2 bombers waiting to do something, but I think I’ll still have enough to take it.

Fake sealion
Playing a game right now with a friend, he’s new but caught on really quickly. I’ve been building Germanys navy up, I have it about ready to go. He saw what was happening and beefed England up pretty well.
So instead of going straight for England I’m going to make it seem thats my landing point but instead move 2 spaces, wait then 2 more to Eastern Canada and go through the back door to Washington!
I’ve never really built a German Navy so this is new to me haha. I’m not sure if this is a standard move or not that people usually do.

RE: Hi-Resolution Map
I have the original board. I might take it to a place and get it scanned hi-res if I can’t find one on the net.

RE: .
As McLovin’ pointed out, nabbing Borneo can offer the UK substantial cash flow for a turn or two at the cost of that Indian navy. I’ve run that a few times, and used that money in the Atlantic as part of an overall KGF. That move certainly marks your fleet for death, but its a pain in the dick for Japan to have to go out of it’s way to handle that island.
If that fighter from Egypt does survive, and if you do fly it to support that Brittish fleet, it’ll make Japan think twice about attacking it. If Japan does attack it, they will take pretty big losses. Cruiser at 3, 2 fighers at 4, carrier at 2. Also you might combine that fleet with the sub and transport in lower AUS.

RE: What to do with my classic game?
@Dr.:
If you are in the US, you can get both Axis & Allies Europe & Pacific for $60 each, shipped. Total of $120 for both - not $180!
How much would shipping be for just one of those games? I looked all over their site but couldn’t find any shipping price lists.
It says after you go to the checkout area that if you spend over 100$ then shipping is free. So both games would only be 120$ since theres free shipping. Pretty good deal actually.

RE: .
Not in my games. It always seems to survive. Germany goes elsewhere or just stacks in Libya waiting for their next turn to attack.

RE: .
Take out Manila or Borneo! It’s a little gamble but odds are in your favor with the bombardment and bringing over 2 infantry from India (yes you might give up India in the process but you can always retake it). Also with the fighter, then in non-combat bring the other fighter from Egypt and land it on the carrier (4 spaces exactly). Then that gives the Japs just something else to worry about.

RE: Sattelites
@Arminius:
Nazis wanna watch monday night football grin
Don´t think so, american football isn´t and never was that popular in germany…
but maybe tlasjr wants to add a new tech.
Reagans Killer Satellites aka SDI or Star Wars Program
Could work like the “laser” (satellite dishes in the picture) worked in Fortress America. But that don´t really fit in the WW2 scenario
Just a joke homie, don’t have to get all factual on me

RE: What to do with my classic game?
Hello
You can get the .pdf of the Classic rulebook from the official WOTC site:
http://www.wizards.com/avalonhill/rules/axis.pdf
You should definitely upgrade from Classic to a newer version. I’ve bought Classic in 1997, Revised in 2003, AA50 in 2008, AA42 and AAP40 in 2009 and just bought AAE40. Classic was fun but I’ve stopped playing it when I got Revised. Then I got AA42 and I stopped playing Revised.
In regards to getting 42 or AAE&AAP40:
- AA42 is a lot less expensive (some people on the US have reported getting it for under 30$)
- Both AAE&AAP40 cost in total some 180$
- AA42 is better for new players to get used to the basic rules. AAE/P have a lot of specific rules.
- AA42 map sucks. Fortunately you can download Imperious Leader’s AA42 and have it printed.
- AA42 plays faster. AAE/P are slower and more complex.
Agreed, I have 42’ and teach kids I work with at the Youth Center how to play (13-17 year olds). Very easy to learn and play that one. However the board is small and intial setup makes the board really crowded, esp. Germany.
With AAE&P40 you get a freakin EPIC map, which is why I’ve invested the money into those. You can buy the new pieces on Ebay 5-8$ per nation. Then as Hobbes suggested maybe download and print one of IL’s maps (printing will costs vary but from what I’ve saw 50-100$ should cover it.)
I guess it all comes down to how much money you want to spend, how often the game(s) will be used etc.

RE: Surprise attack question
Two hit rule still applies. I remember reading this in the 42’ rulebook.

RE: Hi-Resolution Map
Actually I was planning on making a custom map, just with the original colors boarder shapes etc.
