RE: Oh oh Oh, here's one!
is that opinion or fact… im guessing fact, but I could not find it on the FAQ or rule book.

Oh oh Oh, here's one!
Can a disrupted soldier board a transport? How bout unload? in the rare situation it is disrupted on a transport (blast damage)
Technically, disruption means a soldier “can’t move” but a mount or dismount is not technically a move.Anyone?

RE: What sucks? Besides Gamer that is.
lets say a resourceful hero is in the same territory as super duper allied tank, and the tank dies, he gets to use the super duper tanks attack stats, cuz hes, you know, resourceful.
If an Easy Eight comes around, the hero can board that Easy Eight, but he still gets to use the super duper tank stats, cuz presumably hes poking that turret out one of the little eye slits or something.what things would you guys change?

What sucks? Besides Gamer that is.
What rules would you change about minis?
#1 Cheese deploy soldier into stacked hex and get a free move!
#2 Halftracks way too cheap.
#3 Snipers are better at killing planes than just about anything!
#4 15 unit maximum… shouldnt apply to any game with more than 100 points, but also should probably not include obstacles, maybe they equal half a unit.
#5 commanders in transports getting to use their abilities (how exactly is that resourceful hero using the turret of a tank from inside an Easy Eight? It can happen by the rules.
#6 Flamers should cost 4 points when used in a battle against Gamer, and 6 when used by Gamer.

RE: Transport Shmansport
Also, if a tranport carrying a soldier fails a terrain roll, can the soldier still unload in the previous hex? I would think yes, since unload is a soldier move, not a transport move.
I…don’t…know :-o
Based on the various rules involved I think you are correct. But I haven’t personally seen that question on the offical FAQs or rules forums.
Motanyone got an opinion on this?

RE: Transport Shmansport
ahh, regarding flamers and natural 6s
here is the ruling
Q: Some abilities (such as Flamethrower and Guard Crew) refer to numbers rolled on attack dice. Do these abilities care about modified die results or the “natural” numbers rolled?
A: The “natural” numbers rolled. These abilities refer to the numbers rolled on the dice before any bonuses or penalties are applied. -
RE: Transport Shmansport
Does overrun happen before defensive fire?
Basically, my king Tiger enters a hex with a enemy bazooka. Does that bazooka get a defensive fire?
-
RE: Transport Shmansport
unlrelated, but why the hell does avalon hill say stupid stuff like this
“If the hex is directly to the left or right of the unit’s hex, then that hex is neither in front of nor behind the unit. The hex that the unit is in is also neither in front of nor behind the unit.”
?When you absolutely have to know if you are in front of or behind a vehicle.
I think this was already clarified, but I just havent actually seen the clarification. -
Transport Shmansport
I think this was answered, but please clarify.
Using the cheese Tranport unload into stacked hex free soldier movement, can an adjacent enemy soldier get a defensive fire, if the soldier moves from one adjacent hex to another adjacent hex?
Also, if a tranport carrying a soldier fails a terrain roll, can the soldier still unload in the previous hex? I would think yes, since unload is a soldier move, not a transport move.

Flamer Instant Death
If a Marine Flamethrower was shooting at Gamer, and Gamer was a scared soldier,
the chance of instant death is about 22%if the same flamer is shooting at Gamer, and Gamer is hiding scared in a tank, the chance
of instant death is about 9%.You can help base decisions about cost effectiveness using that.

RE: Cheese move
those all sound reasonable, but then it should cost 4.5 points. Of course, the fiery death should apply to ANY soldiers i(probably not vehicles) in the same hex, friend and foe

RE: Play by Forum Stratagy
Is there a way to link the units on map view in some way to information about their stats? How about if you hover the cursor over the unit or right click, a pdf of the unit’s card (like on hill 107) or a summary of the stats pops up? While it might take a little work, it seems very basic. The name of the unit already pops up, it cant be much more to get more info to pop up. This might make the game more approachable.
Also, if you do play someone who is new to a game, try to be leniant with the rules, because even if you memorize the instruction manual, you will be mistaken numerous times while playing, due to innumerable special situations, exceptions, errata, and new editions.

RE: Cheese move
Mateo, point taken about the half-tracks.
my world is falling apart. 2 + 2 = 5. Black is white. People are dying in zebra crossings everywhere. The gate is up. Everything spinning. Gamer has agreed with me.

RE: Cheese move
interesting… so you can place in a hex with a soldier on a halftrack (since the transported unit does not count toward the overstacking rule), but you can not place the hero in a hex with a soldier with, but not on a halftrack…
-
RE: Cheese move
shrug. i disagree, but thats allright.
instant death is a bit overrated, since it only works when you win initiative, and the germans have the best 3 initiative commander… who really wants a screaming eagle captain?I dont think the flamer is underpriced, i think the HALF TRACK is underpriced, making a lot of other reasonably priced units more powerful than perhaps they should be. (3 halftracks with 3 panzerfausts is just about as scary to my heavy tank as 3 halftracks with 3 flamers.)
-
RE: Cheese move
I hit enter too soon – I said PANZERGRENADIER, not Panzerfaust!!! (and the Panzerfaust costs 7 points, not 5).
Mr. Law School Graduate. Do they teach YOU to READ in Law school? :-o The PanzerFAUST costs 5. The panzerSCHRECK costs 7.
Also, I know you said panzergrenadier, but I was making a comparison between two different units (flamer vs faust)
Flamer vs grenadier… I might prefer the flamer, unless it was an open map.
Flamer vs Faust… I might prefer the faust. In regards to the hero deployment, I can see both sides. But the hero rule is
“This unit doesn’t get placed on the battle map during deployment. At the beginning of any of your movement phases, you may deploy this unit in any hex that contains a friendly X Soldier.”
therefore, this statement “Deployment is seperate from movement, and there are well-defined rules for deployment. It states explicilty that you cannot deploy more than two units per hex,” DOES NOT APPLY.
Of course, the official interpretation is the official interpretation. The official “ruling” on the cheese halftrack deployment stacking issue is TOTALLY UNINTUITIVE. so I would not be surprised whichever way the official interpretation of this rule went. But my intuition would be that it is alright to place the hero in an overstacked hex, as long as a unit leaves during the movement phase.
-
RE: Cheese move
The rules also state that the stacking rule can be broken TEMPORARILY during the movement phase as long as it is not broken at the end of the phase. To quote “the stacking limit applies only at the end of each units move”
It seems to me, if a hero has been deployed, he has not yet completely his movement, nor has the other unit, so i it seems to me heros COULD be deployed as long as one of the units moves out of the hex before completing there movement.
-
RE: Cheese move
it seems that he can. Of course, I dont know what happens if the player doesnt move him out. Does the unit get forced out? Or does some other unit? Who desides?
