Thanks again in advance. It is Italy’s turn and both Italy and Austria are constesting Albany. Can Italy land reinforcements in Albania without fighting?
Once again, thanks alot!

Google and the search have outsmarted me and no doubt this is on oage 104 of the faq,
Just wondering if I can attack out of a contested zone or if I am stuck there?
Welcome to the boards Lord Cohliani.
That sounds like the going rate. It is a big board and a little pricey. Don’t go spending five hours of your life searching every corner of the web to save yourself five dollars on the two. Your time is worth something. Go ahead and get it from a reputable source.
Have fun with this monster! On the bigger board there are many more decisions to be made.
Neat idea about strategy talks only between rounds. My groyp is all over the place in experience. We usually play Revised as a team game because Global is a two day affair. I will impliment this.
Something we do is allow texting. Sometimes I even text the opposing team. Something like ‘shucks he left Okinawa empty’ is occasionally enough to goad them into making a bad move.
With five players this is such a social game of convincing folks something is a threat when it isnt
If you have the AA guns around do you have the white complexes from one of the old games?
I disagree with it unless you think the allies are underpowered. Letting England choose where to spend all of its IPCs makes Sealion more difficult then the capture of India more difficult for example. If you have a new British player it could be a bone to throw him.
This would be similar to making the French Navy and land units roll to see how many side with the Germans after France falls. As rolling for Vichy helps the Axis.
There are alternate set-ups available on the Larry Harris message board. The last Alpha.1 was pretty “pro-London” if I recall and still a decently balanced game (at America’s expense). Featured more early battles with the Brits and Italians in particular.
I agree.
Also give them general strategy advice and the occasional warning if their capitol is going to fall.
I have texted my team mates plenty during games. Replaced the smoke break strategy sessions everyone used to take back in the day.
Dont bang your head against the wall attempting to find exactly which panzer divisions were where in May 1940 or whatever. Liberties are taken in the name of gameplay.
Think of the lack of Russian planes as a representation of how poor use Russian Generals got out of their planes.
To be numerically correct on the eastern front the Germans wouldnt stand a chance with equal players. 1941 Russia suffered greatly from the purges and from……well the France problem, having the right equipment but not knowing how to use it in battle.
I usually invade them because my Russian attacks arent till G3ish.
On a side note I LOVE Russian tanks and mech prematurely attaking towards the ‘weak undefended’ Balkins. I believe any attack with fewer than ten Russians is typically to German advantage. New units from Berlin and that beautiful new major ic can kill them with air support on their way to the front.
In Europe folks in the know saw what the Germans were. It would be like letting the Klan take over the US and invade Canada.
The Western Europeans had been redrawing their lines in the mud for 1500 years with few major changes. Germany just pushed too far. The poor Brits knew they were stretched financially and needed help fighting a huge war on two fronts. Amazing they did as well as they did.
I am on my cell phone……what do I recall about Churchill the Fins and the Soviets? I do believe pregmatism won out. Hitler was the more immediate threat than Stalin. Great choice to have to make. Probably helped out by it being the second time in thirty years Germany tried to take over the world and the Soviet ppl being less like Klansmen than the average German even though both their rulers were monsters.
Neat battle. Thanks for bringing it up and getting me to go read about it. My view that UK/American tanks still were not great by 1944 has been further reinforced. Also thanks to good gunnery and crews even obsolete Panzer IVs got kills late in the war.
For 1941-1943 I picked the T-34. If I had to pick one good year round tank for my army that would be it. Cheap. armor design the Germans couldnt match till the Panther of 43. FAST and mobile thanks to nice fat tread.
Interestingly if I needed a tank to put myself into in the fall of 42 I might pick one of the 1347 Tiger I’s the Germans were going to get around to building.
Man, only 1300 during the whole war. Think once their engineers got around to figuring out the finer points their Panther tank was superior. Still seems like in 42 and 43 while Panthers were in preproduction more Tigers would have been built.
Superpower has to be a pretty exclusive term so I say no, not before WWII. Otherwise we need a new word for what us and the soviets became after the war.
The war with dying Spain is a good point to begin marking America’s military influence off her own shores.
Before that was recovery from the civil war. The war with cruddy Mexico was expansionistic, did see our troops off our own soil…… War of 1812 we were killing Brits mostly on our own soil…
Yeah, I vote for after WWII. We definately had the resources. Something lime the oosition China is in today though. Plenty of resources but can they get their stuff together and go take over cruddy countries like Iran or Columbia at will like we can?
If germany somehow gets out of position g1 then go for it. Just beware of their G2 purchasing power compared to yours :|
Spending all that money in the med invites your german opponent to do a sealion attack against a lightly defended london. Also since it is facilities not units italy stands a fair chance of capturing them and potentially using them against you.
Typically with england I have made sealion as painful as possible for the germans figuring if they take well defended london it will cost them soo much their position against the soviets and americans will be hopeless.
I thought OOB was the clear Allied victory set up? I loved playing the Axis and winning that way. And I agree, Japan has tto move FAST, and get some allied attention on herself before even a skilled German player cant keep the Americans away.
I admit to leaving Paris in German hands. Makes me feel almost as evil as Stalin when he left Warsaw in German hands for a little longer.
At least Paris isnt mission critical for getting into Germany or Italy. Sometimes retaking London is the same poison pill.
I find my Japans attacking mostly on Japan3. Sometimes on J2. Way I figure is denying India ten bucks is like denying America twenty.
Indian soldiers get built a useful place. Americans must sail around the world.
Each turn India’s incentive not to attack gets weaker. If the Japanese are out of position to capitalize on India2 I will gladly attack them. Always attack whatever on India3.
