RE: Sea-Lion defense possibility. I need an opinion.
Calvin, you’re16!?@!?! I’m 36. Makes me feel like I shouldnt cuss around ya lol.
Seriously you sound pretty mature. It was at chess tournaments my freshman and sophmore year of hs that Axis and Allies really got my attention. We’d hurry our chess games to get back to it.

RE: Possible Changes from Larry
The victory cities in the Pacific mattering rule should lessen the load on europe. America might have to do like real life. Retake……Wake was it? to make Japanese advancements slower then go europe first for awhile and finally come kick japans butt.

RE: If America has 5 transports in Gibraltar the Germans should
Lol, only a small difference. Every once in awhile i wonder why a battle doesnt go right for me! Darned figuring this stuff out while at work

RE: Larry's 11/16 Mod put into Excel
The +1 was Larry’s newest add on, the Beta. I was trying to figure out how to make the new fellas stick out myself. Probably just should remove it.
Think I forgot the AA Gun on the West Coast BTW

RE: If America has 5 transports in Gibraltar the Germans should
Darnit. I figured out the odds before for this sealion stuff. Where is that post……
UK Round 1 and 2 place about 54 IPC worth or units conservatively…18 inf.
They start with what, 3 fighters, a tac bomber off that carrier, 1 Brit Inf, 1 French inf, an inf and tank from Canada?
18+1+1+1=21inf x 2 =42
3 x 4 for fighters = 12
Tac = 3
Tank = 3
=60 pips or so worth of defense?Germany lands what? 10 transports worth of fellas
10 inf = 10
10 tanks = 30
What usually lives through round one…2 fighters = 6
3 tacs = 12
1 bomber =4So G3 you get 60 or so worth of attack + an offshore shot or two best case. Devalue that if you needed to bring artillery because their supporting feature makes them less valuable than tanks the second round of combat if the infantry are killed.
Still though in either attack the Brits should get about 10 kills the 1st round eliminating the poor attacking infantry so artillery is of limited value…Germany gets 10 or 11 kills the 1st round and killing units that defend at 2 makes them stronger
Leaves 11 Brit Infantry
1 tank
3 fighters
1 tacfor 31 pips
vs 10 tanks (if you can build them)
2 fighters = 6
3 tacs = 12
1 bomber =4for 52 pips
So with attrition Germany probably wins. Less so for every artillery that gets subbed for a tank.
Regardless, here come the Russians!

RE: Possible Changes from Larry
Arent the Italian subs ‘unofficial’? Our member put some *'s there to indicate he was suggesting the new subs. Larry did not siggest them.

RE: Can Italy blitz through a pro-allied Nolrtheast Perisa
Well silly me answering w/o my map handy

RE: Can Italy blitz through a pro-allied Nolrtheast Perisa
P26 says “by blitzing the tank established control of the first territory before it moves to the next.” If Pro-Allied Northeast Persia has not been “emptied” of pro-allied troops doesn’t the tank have to stop and fight?
P11 seems to agree moving into an unfriendly neutral is considered a combat move and the combat must be resolved.
I do understand right?
The Tank is in Italian Pro-Axis Iraq
The Tank is moving through Pro-Allied Northeast Persia. (Not used to be Soviet NE Persia, just neutral Pro-Allied Persia)
The Tank is ending up in the Russian Caucasus. -
Larry's 11/16 Mod put into Excel
Here is an Excel file. I tried to copy all the most recent updates to printable pages.
It should, could, maybe correct for the new National Objectives and Alpha + 11/16 “Beta” updates for the Global game.
When you all find errors let me know.

RE: China can become a monster
@SalothSar:
Having to kill Chinese annoys my Japan for some reason.
Why?
For one with their production rules they just pop back up when the Soviets come save the day.
Second all their territories are worth 1IPC. I really want to eliminate India or Russia. Even ANZAC. There just isn’t any glory in killing Chinese

RE: Possible Changes from Larry
I’m interested in the Japanese attempts to get “their” victory cities. Admittedly most of my games are played with global domination in mind. Eliminate your ability to fight then figure out where the Axis victory cities are lol.
The minor IC thing. Japan having to defend too many territories in SE Asia rather sucks for the Axis. Then again limiting that Norway American major factory helps.

RE: China can become a monster
I agree that China is VERY annoying. It has a large number of territories and thanks to its production rules every time Russia or India retake a square China pops back into position.
Killing the Flying Tiger and cutting the artillery/Burma Road help neuter its offensive value of course.
Last game as Japan I attacked China a fair amount but never concentrated on them. In fact awhile back I found I could ignore them and really get Australia’s attention with a Malaysian Industry.
How big did them Chinese infantry stacks get? Were they paired about 2 to 1 with artillery?

If America has 5 transports in Gibraltar the Germans should
move 10 infantry towards Rome! With any luck you have two turns to get them there.
Yes it weakens you on the Eastern Front. Just fall back a space and you will more than recover battle strength vs the Russians as their new units suddenly have to be faster and move further to attack you.
Remember the US is apparently going all out in Europe. All you need to do with Germany is delay until unopposed Japan kills or neuters the Minor Allies in South Asia and takes the pressure off you.

RE: Balance Idea: Remove the Gibraltar Naval Base
If your group is having problems with balance use the bid system. It worked fine for the last game.
Example:
Shoeless Joe bets he can win with the Axis @ +12 IPC
Trina says she can win with the Axis @ +9 IPC
Joe says, “you’re Germany, Italy and Japan sister!”
Trina puts down a 6 IPC sub for Italy in the Taranto sea zone and a 3 IPC Infantry for Japan in south Asia.
Sure there will have to be understandings that the bid can’t be used by the Axis to buy troops in North America or whatever ridiculous things come up but that way kick butt Axis players don’t always kick Allied butt and lesser experienced Axis players (who may be good with the Allies) get some help when playing the bad guys.
-
RE: Can Transports retreat?
My personal guess is they can choose to retreat but can not unload in a different territory than they planned.
Then again my rule book isn’t near me.
-
RE: Taranto Raid- standard???
Taranto steals a hit and a tac that defends at 3 from defense of London. That Sealion thing is the biggest problem England has.
Also that destroyer has been used to block and attack the Denmark Straight in different games in my basement.
Really I sort of like the Taranto raid. London just has to be made too expensive to take though so I usually don’t do it.
Anyway, I love it when my America takes Minor Complex having Rome while Italian Units are busy chasing the French around Central Africa

RE: Restructuring the game: Need your help with balance!
Neat idea.
Do you play where the allies all attack simultaneously? Depending on strategies and how you do it that could really hurt or help the allies.
How has it been going? DO the Axis get to go first? First thing I’m thinking is Italy never suffers Taranto but the Allies get to all move into sea zones at the same time?

RE: Alpha setup
Ten ipc a round for 3 rounds will still slow the Japanese down in asia overall. The sam fix for Pacific and Global will be tricky.
