I think a far simpler solution for making the game more balanced might be removing the UK CV off GIB. Then again, it might make IT so overpowered that we see Axis rolling along too much before the US can get in.

RE: Taranto Raid- standard???
sea lion or not, irrelevant. take out the IT fleet on UK1 and it’s an allied lock.
I believe it was also a lock for the Soviets to be the US in Lakee Placid….
want another shot at that one? here let me help

RE: Not seeing it
“figuring something out” means cookie cutter moves and play. blah.

RE: UK national objective?
Ok. So tell me how this game is balanced Krieg? :)

RE: Not seeing it
you can’t compare pac40 to global. japan loses no’s out the wazu in g40 (dei/malaya&hongkong/phillipines) and the US starts at 17 v. 52.
Japan can drool all it wants, but if the US is dumping 82 into Europe, there’s no way to help Germ, esp if Taranto has shut italy down.

RE: Not seeing it
Landing in CA/MEX/AK does nothing to the US. Ok, so I take 1 turn off, grab 10 tanks and push your out. Good waste of $ for Japan, while I now have Remaining Armor to load back up on TR’s.
It’s simple math. The US has WAAAAAAAAAAAY too much money to burn off in the Atlantic.
I can only hope that the game truely wasn’t playtested, or they were told that the Allies should win 90% of the time.
Something tells me that in these groups that have the Axis winning 50/50 or more, the better players are taking the axis as it is the harder side. you put the guys who are drinking, don’t really play, or are new on the allies, and a few mistakes are made and taken advantage of.

RE: UK national objective?
So on the 1st turn, the UK gets +5 for all of the orig terr NO if there was no J1? And Anzac has free reign to grab the dutch colony they need to get +3? So by turn 2, assuming Japan still hasn’t attacked, Anzac will be collecting 16 and UK PAC will collect 24, and UK Eur gets a +5 for the Pac Theatre? (assuming they start grabbing DEI’s)

RE: Not seeing it
Remember, in the alpha setup, Japan starts w/1 TR. If they spend money to waste on a US landing, that only helps UKP/Anz/US more.

RE: UK national objective?
I think the rules book needs a note about who gets what NO’s when, I’ve had allied players argue that UK gets their “controls all orig” NO’s when UK Pac is not yet at war.

RE: Do you think these 2 maps were drawn at the same time?
Right. But the problem we get into then is, there would have been a fighter screen inbetween the ships and the incoming British planes. SO, to make this work correctly, you have to have an air battle, then if any remaining British planes survived they could carry on to attack the ships. problem is, which fighters roll at a 3 and which roll at a 4? I would argue the German planes are defending, and get the 4. This would be a huge mess as if your fighter cover for your defending bombers which are actually attacking were shot down, then the German defending fighters would have to battle against the attacking bombers.
Further, this game waters down air units into 3 categories (up from 2, granted) but all the planes are in the swarm. This is a game. IRL, Spitfires would not be attacking the surface ships. Mosquito variants (about 25+ which could attack, not counting recon/trainers) could do this, but then which do you have? When you buy that tac bomber, is it a Fighter/Fighter-Bomber/Torpedo-Bomber/Bomber?
The game is dumbed down a bit in this, and we have to deal with it. Stukas and Vals shouldn’t be 3/3s. Mitchells weren’t going to be taking down Zeros. Oh well.
Stack em up, roll them all at once, and in an Allied heavy game please don’t give the UK the ability to scramble from the home island.

but the battle of britain was air v air. there was no amphib component.

Not seeing it
9th game completed tonight. That’s 9-0 allies.
Taranto Raid is a standard which cuts off Italy from doing anything.
German factory in Romania, no factory? Doesn’t matter.
Sea Lion? Delays the inevitable.
J1/2/3 attacks. Russia attacking Korea / holding the line / withdrawing some and picketing the rest.
Russian Transports landing in Norway are becoming the norm on non-Sealion games, causing a 17 IPC swing.
Alpha setup? Makes an uphill climb into Everest for the Axis.
Our group contends that if you have players of relatively the same ability playing both sides, and the standards are followed, there is little to no chance of an axis win.
Solutions were are kicking around:
Split US income just like UK. 52 for a KGF is impossible to deal with. 82 is even worse.
Putting a Minor in Romania from the start.
Adding Axis airpower in Europe
Eliminating French Units
Making French units Vichy when Paris falls
Removing the minor IC from S. Italy
Not sure what combo of these to try first…
