      @Yoper:

I am especially interested in this simply because of how this will affect my use of it in the A&A tournament that I run.  Being that it is a timed event for the individual games, I am curious as to how the extra need for naval units will slow down the Allies in building up for their attack into Europe.

I’d say it can slow down the Allies from 1-3 turns. It really depends on how many naval and air units G has at the start of G2. It might be enough to sink the AC and 2 DDs that seems to be the regular UK buy for UK1, depending on where they are placed. It also depends if the US landed on Algeria on US1 or not and how Africa is going for the Allies.

Big Luftwaffe gets even nastier when a sizable Japanese fleet gets to Brazil and further into Atlantic.
German increasing threats force even more UK-US cooperation to defend the 2 fleets. But that’s easier when the position needs to be ‘neat’ only after Russian moves. After UK it can be as ‘messy’ as needed.
But add a Japanese threat, and any UK-US cooperation gets extremely cumbersome - any ally moving out of position leaves the other easy prey…

Even wiping/chasing away the Japanese isn’t easy - UK-US being divided to defend transports. And the optimal purchase to protect against Luftwaffe - carriers+(fighters) is not as good as lots of submarines to chase Japan… but subs are of very little use against Germany.

Two hard dilemmas - of timing, of force composition. Any solutions around ?

Generally speaking, if allies let G have afr then in most cases axis win.

The UK sub and trans in Australia have no place in my overall strat, so might as well use it to weaken Jap a little bit.
The Borneo attack is a tricky one, 4 ipc is very tempting, and leaving the AC in Philli to block for Jap retake on J1.
Afr is much more important so one has to look at the map, if G didn’t attack Anglo then Afr is secure, but in most
cases allies should land in Afr with both US+UK. rnd 1.
Sometimes, to take 2 inf from Aus+NZ and move the trans to Afr can be a smart move.
I won’t do this if the sub attack went wrong…

As Jap I don’t care if UK got NG, I wanna kill those trans, but the 1 ipc is no big deal.
Landing the India ftr on the US AC is not a good move imo. I use it in Afr, or with DD in sz59, sometimes I land
that ftr in Bury. The India ftr can land in Cauc together with UK bmr, and 2 ftr from london, (UK1 to WRU) might do a 4 air units
attack to the G med fleet in UK2/UK3, before axis merge their fleets, this is something I usually hate as allies.
If all 3 ftrs land in WRU then they’re set for a baltic wipeout UK2, presuming G didn’t buy any naval units in sz5.  😉

To have the US trade Italy and UK trading WE means birdy for allies  🙂

      ?

In your case Magister, it most likely is a combination of factors.

Your ping time is slow (on a speed test, I typically ping at 31-34 ms) and your bottom-end download speed is also slow.

Combine that with a slow response server (A&A.org), and you are going to get some very poor results.

If you are on Cable, then you need to do some work on your system.  Perhaps too much running in the background, or perhaps you are in need of having a “system tweek”
