I like to open with 1 CV, 1 DD and 1 sub as it both gives solid sealion threat, an option to give Italy a chance and to convoy UK. I will have to try out your openings

I have yet to manage to keep it alive. It really only seems to me that it is an option if the UK scrambles their fighters as you would otherwise be leaving a UK battleship damaged, which in my opinion doesn’t seem like a good trade-off. Am I overlooking something?

In my last game, the Allies went KIF but I had quite good success fighting back as the Axis by pursuing a Dark Skies strategy for Germany buying lots of strategic bombers. This enabled me to sink the American ships and keep them at bay while Moscow was steamrolled. We are not expert players and I am sure the Allies could have been more effective. Nevertheless, I think Dark Skies is a viable counter. What are your guys’ experience?

Another suggestion… if you expect a KJF you could do a J1 and attack the fleet in SZ26 as well as SZ35. This leaves the US significantly weakened in the Pacific. It will take them time to recover. If they bring all their fleet to Hawaii in U1 you can wipe it out with carriers and fighters from Japan. Two carriers and 8 planes will wipe anything the Americans can bring on U1. This should help keep them at arms length for a couple of turns…

It sounds like you only have the fighters engaging in combat. My understanding is that all air units (incl. the bombers get to roll):

• The attacking bombers and fighter escorts and the defending fighter interceptors will be the only units participating in this special combat.
• The combat lasts for only one round.
• All of the air units have attack and defense values of 1
