RE: I will not deposit funds in a Cyprusbank, I will not deposit funds in a Cyprusb
The Medusa robbery/murders:
in 2009,
the 1st bank of Corinth got robbed by a lone gunman with a ski mask.As he was exiting , a brave customer reached out and pulled off the his mask to reveal his face. The gunman shot him dead with a single bullet.
The gunman looked around , one of the tellers was standing , and looking straight at his face.
The gunman walked over to the teller , and also shot him dead where he stood.
The gunman looked around the bank again.
Now the employees and customers were all huddled to the ground, everybody was face down.
Just to be sure he could leave, the gunman shouted out, " Who else , has seen my face ?"
a few seconds later,
an elderly gentleman whimpered aloud. " M - M - My Wife, ….
my wife , I think she caught A GOOD GLIMPSE of you."

Senkaku Islands dispute
A friend of mine pointed this case out from the end of WW2 to showcase how the USA has a history of meddling too much in Asia.
Personally, I find it quite strange any island in that area to be uninhabited.

Vacationing while on sick leave can get you fired
http://jobs.aol.com/articles/2013/03/13/shark-wrestler-paul-marshallsea-sick-leave-fired/
Couple from the UK…
“the couple had both been on extended sick leave for work-related stress since April.”
Doctor told him to go on a holiday.
The shark wrestling he did in Australia about 1 yr later becomes an Youtube sensation.
His employer fires him.
“Whilst unfit to work you were well enough to travel to Australia and, according to recent news footage of yourself in Queensland, you allegedly grabbed a shark by the tail and narrowly missed being bitten by quickly jumping out of the way,”

RE: Moral question…
- A week of -no change- and I said it out-loud to him in front of a group of people…
- Another week of -no change- and I simply dropped the bomb, you F’n STINK, and it still didn’t seem to register…
This is unconscionable behavior for anyone on a managerial or supervisory role. Public humiliation of an employee (regardless of the causal factors) is deplorable behavior. While it may have made you popular with the other employees in the short term and may have solved the immediate problem, you have probably done more long term damage to your credibility as a leader than anything else. And if you don’t get sued for discriminatory practices you should count yourself very lucky.
Garg can pay the other staffers at the time of the firing to arrive on the court date to witness how the workplace sanitation was reducing the productivity of that particular site until the offensive stench was removed.

RE: The 20th Century's First Strategic War Game?
I vaguely recall from some recolored old movies a bout Rome, that the emperor and his generals would sometimes roll a colored map out on a big table . The had wooden cutout roman numerals ( like risk ) for the varius legions, and color disk shields representing the opposition. It was an empire wide scale for estimating reinforcement times, allowing then to optimize the allocation of reserve legions.

RE: Moral question…
I recently got reviewed for my 2012 performance.
No raise :( .The performance review form allocated an area of team building that was worth 10% of my rating.
There was another 10% for considering how “savvy” I was in the comany culture and leveraging the brand.
I get to work from home alot, but I did shower before the in office days. Some corporations are even more ruthless; GE, during the Jack Welch heydey of the 90’s , would annually promte the 10% and also terminate the bottom 10% every year. Folks would shower often for those jobs.

Hugo chavez 1954 - 2013
Castro is older,
I thought this anti-American would have outlasted the other guy,
or the cubans could have replaced him with a healthy Manchurian candidate type as he got treatment in Havanna,

RE: Did Skynet and the Terminator start off as something this cute and cool?
Human resistance have a low probability chance as a 3rd party to regain some freedoms after the machines dramatically multiply.
Because, with the large numbers and multiple production machine cities, eventually a revolt will occur where many lower efficiency machine cities will revolt against few the newer models. Human scavenging crews may be able to pick up the high tech fallout from some evenly pitched battles.
The likeliest winner of the Machine vs Machine war will use clouds of micro swarm machines (insect size) that inject viral submission / loyalty update programs into the opposition war machines and factories.
So the Terminator future should be more of a Neo/Matrix / Wachowski Bros view than the James Cameron vision.

RE: Did Skynet and the Terminator start off as something this cute and cool?
I remember how menacing the humanoid robots were in the the initial movie.
I was a bit older and wiser by the 2nd movie.
Main thoughts.
1. The movie and ticket buying audience is 100 % human, thus they would relate to human likenesses on both the good and bad sides of the movie.
2. The Hunter killers zoom around a battlefield quickly attacking the resistance fighters. The machines like efficiency, and should have produced many more of them. Not only that, the film shows how difficult it was for the humans to counter against them.
3. The humans rely on food, which the machines do not need. The Machine web logs should have had examples of how the US railroads and cavalry slaughtered the buffalo herds in order to impoverish and eventually subdue the plains indians.
4. Humans can be poisoned by gasses in ways that would not effect the machines.
5 The machines should have poisoned all of the available surface waters.
By the 2nd movie, when you had that morphing metallic alloy machine, it should have been way over for the human resistance of the future.
6. Why bother keep humanoid forms and sizes for those types of machines? Those types of machines could have kept forms that humans do not watch out for , such as liquid carpet, rolling rocks, raccoons, cats, mice, whatever the minimum size is to carry a high detonation level bomb to the remaining human group shelters.
If the machines can make one, they will soon be able to make many more.
Total machine victory could be achieved within 3 years of that development.
Time machining another assassin robot (with the special morphing capability) was not neccesary.Human sized robots with big weapons, is a stupid way of letting the human resistance groups defeat a few, and then start arming themselves with the range weapons that you made. The machines should have realized that calculation early on.

RE: Protect your children and grand children
I recall that OWS at several sites like Cleveland , and Atlanta got thier Rape reports hushed away.
OWS Dallas got some report of a consenting underage runaway girl who shared sleeping bags, weed, and more w a few guys who would have been jailed for their activities w her.
They did not police themselves well, and the government authorities had to clear them out. Rape was tangent to the main reason to the clear out OWS sites.
If I had a daughter, OWS type activities by her would be severely discouraged.

RE: The enemy of my enemy Was my friend Back Then
Many of our nations now hold some sort of election process.
Communist leadership has rarely been good, and always intolerant of political opposition.
They frequently get re-elected.
These communist regimes around the world are almost the pinnacle example of Machiavianism.Hands that look so clean, so shiny, so respectable, after they wrote orders for such bloody deeds.

RE: The enemy of my enemy Was my friend Back Then
All 3 were very friendly at Tehran,
By Yalta , Churchill was giving hinted warnings to FDR about Stalin in the post war.
FDR died before WWII ended.
The newspapers were rather Pro communist (anti Shek (KMT)) when reporting about the following revolution in China.
But our history classes reveal that the various kingdoms and monarchies were very much against communism leading up to WWI.

The enemy of my enemy Was my friend Back Then
I recently pondered about the Tehran and Yalta conferences between FDR, Churchill and Stalin.
I get the impression that the more freedom oriented western leaders did not project too much farther than the threat of Hitler in Europe.
Stalin had a much farther reaching vision.
FDR and Churchill did not govern much in the Post WWII era.It took Poland over 40 years to vote out the Russian Soviet styled Communism.
An Romanian immigrant told me about the coal looted from her region sent on trains to Russia for decades, while miners in her town died of overwork and malnutrition.
China was supported by the Flying tigers , and ammunition supplies from India . Stalin provided artillery and advisers until the Nazi invasion.I find it alarming how communism grew so rapidly to replace the other repressive forms of government after WWII.
Now the main issue to me was that most oppressive governments kept the problems within their own borders and the escapees would take refuge in nearby better situation countries.
Communism had a strange way of blocking the outward immigration, so each of the communized countries would become a prison with lots of pro-leadership propaganda (no longer news) for the fans and reeducation for the dissenters.
NOT only was it bad for the folks trapped in their newly communized countries, agents from the communist league would issue out agents to the other countries and organize resistance against the native government and/or leadership in their efforts to start pro communism revolutions.
