RE: [Global 1940] New turn order
Spain, Turkey, Iran and South America should become playable. Greece should be Pro Allied and I would split Yugoslavia into 2 with one a Pro Axis and 1 a Pro Allied. Bulgaria and Finland remain Pro Axis. Iraq becomes strict neutral
Sweden should be Pro Allied and turned to Pro Axis if Leningrad and Archangel fall.
2 IPC income for all neutrals and add 1 free infantry each turn. They don’t need factories but can place units that are locked with Naval forces being Coastal defense.Unit builds for Neutrals as follows:
Coastal Defense Navy ( May only move once aligned )
Naval Transports same stats
Torpedo Boat Destroyer A2 D1 C5 M1
Submarines same stats
Destroyer same stats
Coastal Battleships A3 D2 C 15 M1 2 hits to destroy ( represents Cruisers, Pre-Dreadnoughts and dreadnoughts )Air units
Fighters A3 D2 C10 M4 +1 to Motorized InfantryLand
AA Guns same stats
Artillery same stats
Motorized Infantry (use truck sculpts) A2 D2 C5 M2 (represents combined independent tank battalions and mobile Infantry with limbered Artillery battalions) -
RE: [Global 1940] New turn order
My set up is 1 Infantry and 1 fighter in Sumatra, 2 Infantry on Java 1, and 1 Infantry in Celebes… Navy is a Navy Base, 1 Destroyer and 1 sub in Java, a sub in Celebes and a Cruiser in Sumatra…Good idea on 2 Infantry in UK…mine doesn’t have that. They go on ANZAC turn

RE: [Global 1940] New turn order
I should take a pic of my Dutch set up on the map and post a picture….yeah I painted my Dutch pieces orange as well. My Polish are white, Axis Minors light grey, Allied Minors Celery Green…my Strict Neutrals are Ivory and SS black…Germans are dark grey

RE: [Global 1940] New turn order
In my hybrid game I do have Militia, Dutch forces in the Dutch colonies and Colonial Infantry for certain Allied countries. Germans have SS which is basically a +1 to D and they can be upgraded. So an SS Infantry can become a SS Mech Infantry for 1 IPC, SS Mech can become a SS Tank for another IPC. SS Infantry costs 3 IPC but here is what makes it more unique, Romania, Western Ukraine, Yugoslavia and Finland you may place an (1) SS Infantry in any of those territories without the need of a factory. Max purchase is 2 SS Infantry per turn and 1 upgrade

RE: Anti-Sub Tech Delayed (YG's 8d - G40)
CWO Marc I am not talking the Tech, but rather the availability of Sonar for ASW on ships designed for ASW and not the U boat threat but rather U boats attacking in unison.
Another factor with historically accurate concepts has to be playability without getting overly complicated.IE German assault guns over tanks was lack of resources….and the availability of chassis from outdated tanks like the PZ ll and PZ 38t to create a need in Self propelled Artillery and Anti-Tank vehicles. I assure you that the Tanks were preferred over assault guns. This concept has morphed in house rules to what these assault guns were actually intended to do. A Panzer Division commander would rather be supplied Panthers over JagdPanthers

RE: Anti-Sub Tech Delayed (YG's 8d - G40)
Patrolling the seas, The Allies new where their convoys were, so Destroyer Escorts and CAP by Sea Planes were the method of detection early in the War. There was a GAP that could not be patrolled by air and the Germans exploited this. This was one of the major reasons escort carriers were developed. More German subs were destroyed by air rather than by destroyers. Once sonar became available the wolfpacks became obsolete.
I have a house rule that has the wolf pack NO for Germany and a plus 1 on the sneak attack. This is one time roll and hit or miss the German sub may withdraw. remove the casualty immediately and no counter is allowed. Only CAP can negate this. Sea Zone 107 and 117 are killing grounds and German Subs roll 2 dice. I since have changed it to YG rule, use the best result of the roll method. To counter, the Allies can use TAC Bombers to kill Submarines. You must place them on CAP duties. That means this TAC Bomber may not scramble or intercept or attack and defend. It has only 1 job, ASW to kill submarines. In my game this unit is actually a Sea Plane but for AA conversion it must be a TAC Bomber

RE: [Global 1940] New turn order
Should Paratroopers and Air Transports be a part of the game?
Airborne A2 D1 C4 M1 or range of plane
Air Transport A0 D0 C8 M5 2 Airborne or 1 Artillery capacity -
RE: [Global 1940] New turn order
I think UKP can take over Indo China for extra income and get a bonus for the Burma Road as well and Liberating Kwangtung, they get some form of bonus…not clear on what and how of it yet
-
RE: [Global 1940] New turn order
I think UKP needs a bonus income and make the Island Warfare a victory condition. I really do like the Victory objectives that Young grasshopper introduced for his tournament for victory conditions. So a slight change to set up charts and political situations this can morph into a great game.

RE: [Global 1940] New turn order
As for the Poland scenario to inevitably surface, those units in that theater remain as is but I think we can add 1 Russian fighter to East Poland and 1 additional German Tank and 1 Artillery to Poland. Here is where I think either Russia or Germany can declare war.
Many people do not realize that the German attack on Russia in Poland was actually a preemptive strike against the Russian forces massed in Poland. Germany was under a major threat with the forces Russia had positioned in Eastern Polish territories and the Baltic States. Russia had well close to a 3000 aircraft that were destroyed in the 1st 3 days of Operation Barbarossa. Hint none of those aircraft were destroyed deep in Russia and most were in Poland and the Baltic States. 3 days is not a deep drive into Russia folks.

RE: [Global 1940] New turn order
Yes Caesar, So Italy may declare war or stay neutral.
Imperious Leader’s comment just now also opened up another situation for Scandinavia. Norway has to be a Pro Axis neutral for game play reasons. Russia may attack Finland, Sweden and Norway by declaring war on Finland. This is NOT a deceleration of war on the European map with the Italians and Germans. Once Finland is attacked Sweden then becomes an Axis Minor.
So add a Tank in Finland to the set up. I want a 35% chance of success for the Russians to be able to take Finland.
Norway is now an Axis Neutral and the set up will be Axis neutral with now 4 Infantry. The fighter in Norway is now placed in Denmark
But we will consider that the 1st phase has occurred for Germany and the units in Denmark and Belgium remain GermanThe Russian Minor Factories MAY be upgraded to Major factories but only 6 unit capacity instead of 10. Add a Minor factory in Samara. This factory produces Mech and Tanks for 1 IPC less

RE: [Global 1940] New turn order
Italy was at war in Africa against Abyssinia but the British were threatening Italy. So for Political Situation Italy may declare war or stay neutral. If it stays neutral then UK may declare war or stay neutral. On turn 2 Italy must now declare war on UK if not already at war and choose at least 1 battle against the UK
-
RE: [Global 1940] New turn order
We can add a French Artillery in Tunisia.
Caeser I added a French Tank in Southern France, a Naval Transport and a Battleship in SZ 93 in the setup in previous page.
Italy gets a special ability, Any UK factories in Africa or Persia are subject to interdiction. If UK buys any units for those factories then as long as Italy has submarines or Strategic Bombers either in the Med SZ’s or Strats on land territories that border the Med then Italy gets 2 rolls for each factory (ie 2 factories 4 rolls). on a 3. On a 1 for 1 basis a unit of UK’s choice is destroyed. The rolls of 4 make sure the dice are different and designated for which factory. Apply the hits per result. Italian units interdicting are affected and may not be used during that turn. This action takes place during the place units phase. If Italy used all of its Subs or Strat bombers during that turn then there is no interdiction allowed.

RE: [Global 1940] New turn order
How about 5 IPC bonus for China once they have liberated Kiangsu, and as long as Kwangtung is in Allied control and a supply path is open to a Chinese territory then the US can lend lease land units to China, Alternate route for lend lease is Philippines is under US control, Borneo and Malaya are under UK control and Yunnan is under Chinese control. US may lend lease up to 8 IPC’s (US bought for China) to China as long as conditions are met. Japan may interdict as long as Japan has Submarines on board in SZ 20. Japan rolls 1 dice for each submarine in SZ 20, on a roll of 1, lend lease units are destroyed

RE: [Global 1940] New turn order
Yes but West India though the income goes to UKP, UKE can also build there. So West India has joint control with UKP and UKE
I have been tinkering with the idea of giving France a Battleship and a Naval Transport in Sea Zone 93 plus a French Tank in Southern France and switching 1 French Infantry in Morocco to a Mech Infantry,
Add a UKE Air Base in Malta, a UKE destroyer in SZ 91 and a 2nd UKE cruiser in SZ 98.
Add an Italian Tac Bomber in Tobruk, a Destroyer in SZ 97.
Add 2 German Artillery in Western Germany and a Tank. In Southern Germany add a Strat bomber, add a German Destroyer in SZ 113 or an additional Sub in SZ 124.
Add a Russian Tank and an Artillery in Karelia.
Add a Japanese Minor factory in Manchuria
Anzac get an Artillery in Egypt.
Add a US Strat bomber in Eastern US and a Destroyer in SZ 102 and this lone US destroyer may kill any German subs that enter SZ 101, 102 and 106 even if not at war and does not affect the political situation. This destroyer will be the only US unit allowed to conduct combat while not at war.
Add 1 AA gun (special unit) in Szechwan and an Artillery in Yunnan. One of my ideas is that the Germans have to decide what to do with their Air force. Use it in France or attack the UK Ships. Give both the UK and Italy a fighting chance and make Sea Lion much harder to accomplish. Germany will get a bonus income of 3 per turn if Bessarabia, Western Ukraine and the Ukraine are in Axis control. Italy gets a bonus income of 3 if Yugoslavia, Bulgaria and Greece are under ITALIAN control. Japan gets a bonus income of 5 if all of China is under Japanese control, and an added bonus income of 5 If the Japanese control all of Philippines, Kwangtung, Malaya and Szechwan.
Allies May win the game if Rome or Berlin are captured, ALL of the ORIGINAL FRENCH TERRITORIES are under French control, (Liberation goes back to French control, the income of the territory may be used by the liberating Allied player) UK is in control of both capitals, Kwangtung, Szechwan, and Shanghai are under Allied control
France may not attack Germany on Turn 1 but may withdraw the Fighter in UK back to France.
Special Ability: France may roll 1 recruitment roll per turn, on a 1 add an Infantry in any Colonial territories. China may add 2 Infantry in any Chinese territories immediately even if it is under Japanese control but no Japanese units are in the territory. Adjust income, this also includes the territories that were under Japanese control at the start of the game.
Turkey becomes an Axis or Allied Neutral if All the Balkans, CYPRUS and all of North Africa are either under Axis or Allied control. Add a Minor factory, a fighter and Artillery to Turkey and reduce Infantry to 5. Factory becomes operational once Turkey has Aligned. Same rule applies as other aligned neutrals in the game.If youse come up with additional concepts or changes…I am all ears

UKE
Can UKE build facilities in West India which in Global the Income goes to Pacific? Even though West India is on the European map does UKP receiving the income negate UKE from building there?

RE: RULE CLARIFICATION: Italy DOWs Moves to E. Poland - Germany Moves Doesn't DOW
So technically you can….me thinks…my point though is how lots of rules are left to interpretation…people read and see things differently…rules in my opinion have to be so clear that it can’t be questioned wit…“but” “or” “if”
-
RE: RULE CLARIFICATION: Italy DOWs Moves to E. Poland - Germany Moves Doesn't DOW
I know….but technically they are a separate land mass distinctly defined by the water dividing them. Nothing states you can’t place an AB there or occupy it. It has never come up as a situation in any of my games…just saying
