Hi Wittman, That does help and thank you.

RE: Sub/Transport Question
@Eggman:
@wittmann:
It is legal for one to stay and the others to leave.
Provided that they move out during the combat movement phase.
I thought you could only move on the combat phase if combat was involved.

Sub/Transport Question
Say the situation arises where at the end of Japans’ turn, they have 1 transport in a sz along with 2 or more ANZAC subs. On ANZACS turn, if 1 sub stays to kill the transport can the others move out? Or does the fact that the tt was attacked mean that the other sub(s) have to remain due to the fact that there was technically combat?

RE: German Mediterranean Strategies
@Young:
Haven’t seen many games with a German presence on Africa (other than a game or two where the axis managed to get a German infantry on Egypt). However, When I play Germany there is a great chance of a German navy supporting Italy in the Med. Of course the Germans need to take both Normandy and Southern France, but I give all the Baltic states to Italy including Bulgaria, in order to help them take Greece. Around turn 3, I drop an aircraft carrier, a destroyer, and a second destroyer or sub depending on if I’m dealing with allied planes or ships. That’s usually enough to allow Italy to get off the mat after the initial attacks from the UK, I also use German air to take out British ships off Rome while the Italians take the French boats and anything off Malta. Something else I do is stack all four Italian AA guns in Rome, and put four German AA guns in Northern Italy and the last two in Western Germany, Denmark, or France (wherever there is a landing threat).
I’m assuming you mean the Balkans, and not Baltic, as Baltic is up north by Russia?

RE: SBR & Escorts
I thought Tac Bombers could intercept too… must re-reead the rulebook.
Tac Bombers may scramble to protect a seazone, but they cannot intercept.
-
RE: Sea Zone 125 - a German Convoy Zone?
@captain:
Yes…you can park the Russian sub there and do convoy disruptions. That’s a pretty typical move. But the German player will usually park a sub there also…so that denies the NO for Russia.
I believe that a sub causes disruption even if another sub is present.

RE: Turn order is time wasting…
@Eggman:
If you retake paris Germany would get another 19 ipcs, right?
The IPC bonus is only for the first time you capture a capitol.
There is never a
bonus
for capital captures except for the Russian NO regarding Berlin. Jeff28 is right, if France somehow recaptures Paris F1, then they will collect income at the end of their turn which will just be harvested again by Germany on G2. It may feel like you’re getting some kind of bonus for sacking Paris, but you’re just collecting their starting income that they never get a chance to spend.Not true. There is a German NO (bonus) for controlling Moscow, 5 IPC’s.

RE: Man, just missed it!
Seriously, someone had this and didn’t even open the box???

[/quoteNot true. If a capital is liberated, that nation gains income based on their current holdings at the time. If that capital is retaken by the enemy, they get that nations IPC’s again.

RE: US1-US3 question.
@Eggman:
Not true. While not at war, US is neutral, and therefore cannot move into any tt’s other than there own.
Yes. Â The US owns Greenland.
Quoting from the 2e Europe '40 rulebook, page 37:
“While not at war with Germany or Italy, the United States may end the movement of its sea units on the
Europe map only in sea zones that are adjacent to U.S. territories”.Since Greenland is a US territory, you are not prohibited from moving any of your units there. Â I offer no opinions on the utility of such a move, but it is allowed. Â There are no restrictions there on
Continental
or not. Â If there were, this would also prohibit placing units in the West Indies.As a possibility, in addition to the Naval Base I discussed earlier, you could also dump an Air Base on Greenland and load it with Air units which could then reach the UK in one turn.
I was referring to the statement concerning Baszil

RE: Capturing Major IC with damage markers
I believe that this was asked before. The answer then was that they stay, because if retaken by the original owner all of the damage that was done would still have to be repaired.

Bombing Runs and Scrambling
I am Germany, I want to attack the Brit fleet in sz 110. I also want to sbr his airbase in England. If the sbr is successful, will that prevent the possibility of a scramble to the sea zone, or does the scramble happen at the same time as the sbr?

Map Question
Was just looking at my copy of 1942 2nd ed. Does sz8 touch Northwestern Europe. This may have been addressed already, I looked and could not find if it was.

RE: Do -downgraded- factories keep their damage?
Here is a new wrinkle. Major IC receives 10 damage, then is captured. It is now reduced to minor with 6 damage. What if it is now retaken by the original owner, it can be upgraded again to Major but only has the 6 dam? Or does it have 10 again since that is what it had originally???

RE: Best come from behind victories?
@Cmdr:
German/Italian/Japanese Kill Russia First strategy (after India of course) from the south - using an IC in Romania. All the planes where too far away, and Novgorod was not captured (England had liberated it and Germany wasnt in a position to retake it befor Russia could build there.)
Russia buys a transport and 2 infantry - KNOWING Moscow is going to fall, it being the 8th Victory City needed to win… On Russia’s turn, a very SURPRISED Germany finds Russian infantry in West Germany (Frankfurt) thus stopping the win (W. Germany is a Victory City). America takes Denmark and British transports take Berlin the same round. Axis surrendered with 6 VCs on the Europe map and 5 VCs on the Pacific map.
Funny as heck to watch! I had Japan in that 5 player game.
When did Frankfurt become a victory city???
