Man, I think I’m like the in the top 5 posters on this site! And I lost! LOL!
I’m not sure a free copy of War Room qualifies as “losing”.
Also, each person got 1 entry, not 1 entry per post.
Oh yes, true! That was a generous prize!

RE: FAQ 1.0 for Bulge
Question:
If you blitz a tank out of an enemy zone of control into an open space, which is on a road, then can the tank continue moving along the road for its second movement until it hits a town or another enemy zone of control?
Thanks
The point of this question relates to a game where the germans were able to blitz tanks out of the allied zone of control and then on the second blitz move, spread out and seize like 4 towns for the win.
Also, the win is automatic right, in that the allies do not get a chance to respond the moment the Germans achieve the victory condition?

RE: Karl vs. Jason G39 [EXPERIMENTAL]
Hey I forgot to attack in eastern front, so I rolled it on dice server. Basically Italian stack vs 1 guy. Your guy hit. So I killed my car.

I attacked your planes in greece. I chose bombers as casualties on theory that keeping your fighter was most important… which it was in any event.

RE: Admiral Scheer vs Baltimore Class Heavy Cruiser
good discussion
I assumed the Baltimore’s advanced radar fire-control system would allow it to pulverize the Scheer, even if the Scheer was in firing range.
Wiki states:
The Baltimore class was equipped from the start with electronic fire control systems to determine the fire-parameters by which targets over the horizon could be hit. The main guns were controlled by a Mark 34 fire control system connected to an MK 8 radar. The anti-aircraft guns were guided by Mk 37 systems with Mk-4 radar.
Along similar lines, there was a heavy debate about Iowa class vs Yamato class. Iowa class wins, because of far superior radar fire control.

Wait, so you nuked all the air? Ok, doesn’t matter then. Max defense.

RE: KARL7, LORD CURTMUNGUS Axis vs GARGANTUA, CANAUK12, and TOUCAN SON-OF-SAM Allies, The final battle!
June 30, Vancouver BC, Deep Cove Fortress… It’s happening.
Listen on, listen on… fighting leads to killing, and killing gets to warring, and that was damn near death of us all! But now when men get to fighting, it happens in A&A and ends in A&A.
Nerds and ladies, dying time is here…
For the Axis: Directly out of the WASTELAND, he’s bad, he’s bold, he’s beautiful, he’s crazy! He’s LORD CURTMUNGUS (and karl7)
For the Allies: He’s the BALL CRACKER, death on foot, you know him, you love him, it’s GARGANTUA (and side kicks).
Straight up G40 BM, bid: Axis get 2 rerolls of any attack.
NONE SHALL SURVIVE!

That crap again? Yes, the AA hit well, but Japanese were +5 hits and UK as a whole was +1 hit, even including the AA fire. So below-average for the Allies on balance.
This game is very nearly over; it was a blunder on my part to build US bombers and send the US fleet to Iceland. If I had the opening to do over, I would have built carriers + fighters + destroyers, and sent the US Atlantic fleet to Gibraltar right away. Having the US fleet in the wrong sea zone set me back about two full turns, and you’ve played well enough all game that I haven’t been able to recover. I figured I’d leave the air force in India to see if I got very lucky (I did not) and then try a massive US attack on London to see if that gets lucky (I probably will not, if I even manage to get the attack off at all.) If the US attack doesn’t work then I’ll resign.
The attack on Italy was fun and entertaining, but ultimately no substitute for liberating London.
What are your go-to purchases for America when defending against Sea Lion?
Hmm, hard to say. Depends on a lot – what Japan and italy are doing etc.
One strategy is to just let London go, hope Russia holds on, and crush Japan.
But not sure that works anymore.
Anyhow, usually just buy carriers, at least 1 dd, transports and bombers. Bombers are important if you think you can sink the German Fleet in 110 and land in Scotland.

RE: Yes. Another "What if"
I hate to take on my brother Argothair [he is an intellectual giant, fyi] but the US realized the dominance of carrier in 1940.
On June 18,1940, after less than an hour of debate, the House of Representatives by a 316–0 vote authorized $8.55 billion for a naval expansion program, giving emphasis to aircraft. Rep. Vinson, who headed the House Naval Affairs Committee, said its emphasis on carriers did not represent any less commitment to battleships, but “The modern development of aircraft has demonstrated conclusively that the backbone of the Navy today is the aircraft carrier. The carrier, with destroyers, cruisers and submarines grouped around it[,] is the spearhead of all modern naval task forces.”[6] It was enacted on July 19, 1940.
The Act authorized the procurement of:
18 aircraft carriers
2 Iowa-class battleships
5 Montana-class battleships
6 Alaska-class cruisers
27 cruisers
115 destroyers
43 submarines
15,000 aircraft
The conversion of 100,000 tons of auxiliary ships
$50 million for patrol, escort and other vessels
$150 million for essential equipment and facilities
$65 million for the manufacture of ordnance material or munitions
$35 million for the expansion of facilities -
RE: Karl vs. Jason G39 [EXPERIMENTAL]
I was watching Leningrad to see if there was an opening and there was. But I also got luck too.
Jets are basically the new bombers in this game, I figure. You could reduce range to make them more tactical. Super attack and defense but range 3?
