Russia takes what belonged her for 250 years.
Be that as that may, there certainly is a better time and method of doing so. Thankfully it’s been relatively civil for what is possible.

MST3K. Not all episodes (most aren’t, really) are on Netflix, but it’s always a good viewing.
@CWO:
It’s illegal to hunt wales in the state of Utah.
Considering that Utah is a landlocked state, I’m baffled by that one. Is this along the lines of Arthur C. Clarke’s joke about the incompetent army general who should have been put in charge of the coastal defense of Wyoming?
Maybe they meant the Welsh, people of Wales.
@ABWorsham:
For you Super TecmoBowl fans, what are your top four favorite teams to play?
San Francisco, Houston, Miami and Buffalo
I generally went with Dallas, KC, Detroit and either Giants or Eagles (QB Eagles was a beast). We generally left the Raiders off limits, but I liked them.
Later iterations of Tecmo football games were pretty good. I even picked up a DS version that was very reminiscent of the original game, although with new features - super abilities, custom players/team, cutscenes during gameplay, etc. Alas, it did not have the NFL license to use real names of players or teams, and didn’t try to emulate the actual teams in any way except for city names. Just looked it up…Tecmo Bowl Kickoff
@Nozdormu:
I am not anti-American. I just try to be fair and honest. Double standards are what bothers me.
I can tell… and that is great. Then we agree on more than it seems.
Truth has no agenda.
But politicians
almostalways do
Fixed that for you. That’s the entire point of politics.

@rjpeters70:
SuperTecmo Bowl:
Joe Montana in the back of one end zone, Jerry Rice in the end of the other. 120 yard TD pass in quadruple coverage. Every time.
Tec’ was awesome.
It was an awesome game.
You know, most people talk about the offensive players, but there were some overpowered defensive players as well. I generally went with one of the inside linebackers and slipped between the center and the guard. Chris Spielman was one I particularly liked, and maybe Derrick Thomas? (although he may have been outside). I would also could take the nosetackle and sack the QB/stuffed the run for a loss the grand majority of the time, no matter the player.
If the White house was run by McCain and Palin today then Russia would never dare this, so I blame this on the americans
WTF are you smoking
These are the best of the best. I would say Payton would be right behind them.
He’s crap in the playoffs though. About the only time he did anything was the one year he won the Superbowl. Seriously, go look at his playoff performance. 11-12 overall - Eli is 8-3.
I would have at least liked to seen Bo play out his entire career though…that hip injury is one of the greatest travesties in sports…and I’m not a big fan of Bo, but he and Allen made a deadly combination (Tecmo Bowl anyone? Try stopping Bo and Allen).
You don’t even need Allen, just Bo. He was ridiculous when healthy. Christian Okoye on the KC Chiefs was also an excellent rusher in that game.
@aequitas:
Looks like MALCOMS Dad is dealing with Godzilla this time and not Matthew Broderick, (pfeuww)
I think we got a chance to see something decent here then… :-)At least they seem to know what the hell Godzilla is supposed to look like. They aren’t giving us that stupid igaunazilla/velociraptor/we’ve no idea who Godzilla is thing, so, we’re already getting something miles better than that movie.
Plus no Puffy/P. Diddy/Pick-a-new-name-each-week
I think this is a good thing.
We spend way too much on the military, and I find it unnecessary. We need to lean on diplomacy and international, unified approaches to issues/crises more and breaking out the guns less. Economic measures can be effective weapons as well.
I’m a bit sad some people want to take the A-10 away, though.
Yes, which I mentioned. And it’s why I said you might be able to have a world-baseball tournament. The MLB has at least a little more credibility in calling it the World Series/“World Champions” in that the MLB is the de facto league of the world and all the best players from South/Central America and Japan come to play in it. (You could say the same of the NHL, but there are plenty of other good players and leagues in the world which, I believe, need to be included to vie for some sort of world title.)
Malachi already addressed this, but I also already mentioned the World Baseball Classic. Take a peak at the history of that, which is a testament to the international play of baseball (hint: US does not dominate it).
Basketball is more popular in Europe and Asia than we normally see, though nothing close to what it is here or the overall talent level of the players. Americans have generally dominated in olympic basketball, but it has been somewhat closer in recent years. (Since pros have been allowed to play in 1992, the USA has won the tournament 5/6 times and won bronze the time they didn’t win gold. Competing at the Olympics would qualify as a “World Championship”. I just don’t understand how you can apply that title within a regional league.
Argentina was the winner in that year USA did not take gold. Manu Ginobili was on that team and plays on my favorite NBA team, the San Antonio Spurs. One third of that team’s roster is international players (i.e. not from the US). Looking over recent drafts are there is a considerable international presence. Even the NBA’s “farm system” (NCAA) is involved.
The US leagues are considered the “Show”, however. Watch Bull Durham to understand what I mean.
Canadian teams will always be WORLD CHAMPIONS!
That is such a dumb title for a regional sports championship, which is why I am glad the NHL does not call the Stanley Cup winners “World Champions”.
Calling NFL and MLB champions “World Champions” is a lot conceited and not accurate. Even if they are the best team in the world (because no other country plays the sport), no other country has a team in competition.
There are ways to justify the title, but they are pretty thin.
Plenty of people countries participate in baseball (and basketball as well). It’s not a US-centric sport as much as you would believe.
Also, the US has no need for the CFL, except for dumping our NFL washouts that can still play in a substandard league. 8-)
(In all honesty, I wish I could see more CFL games as I like the rule variations within it)
Canadians would also lose the World Annual Laugh Off while the jokes sail right over their heads…eh?
And the Yankee panky begins.
The bottom line is this… a country with 10 times the population of ours, picked thier best, and they lost.
Worse… they embarrassed their country instead of bringing home a medal in their last game.
Only America is to blame. It’s a shame really. Atleast Hoffman has the self respect to know what’s done is done.
We’ll see you in the World Series, SuperBowl, NBA Finals, World Cup, Olympics '16, Baseball Classic, Daytona, World Cheeseburger Classic, Monster Truck Rally Championship, MLG Championship, Little League World Series, etc., etc.
Oh wait, no we won’t! :lol:
…you save Team Trivia at the pub and floor everyone on your WW2 knowledge when they thought you were a pacifist hippie. :mrgreen:
Our best athletes must be saved for real sports. Wouldn’t want Kevin Durant to make you cry, scoring 7, 8 goals a night (on 34 shots).
The Goonies
Conan the Barbarian (just the first, but I thought the others & Red Sonja were ok)
Airplane!
Blade Runner
Back to the Future series
Red Dawn
Short Circuit
Robocop
Transformers the Movie
GI Joe the Movie
The Running Man (also an excellent RiffTrax treatment)
The Princess Bride
A Christmas Story
(tried not to repeat any, sorry if I did)
Well, a sect would be a group that has turned away from original doctrine of some faith, but still uses some elements of this faith.
so we have judaist sects, christian ones, muslim etc.
I do believe that pretty much applies universally, however I was just making a sects joke.
Sure. Although it’s pretty far away from Witness doctrine.
Yes, of course. But in the contest that they are not pure christian. Mormons would be closer to Christianity and Witness to Judaism. But they are let`s say 4th and 5th Abrahamic religion, a christian sect of some kind. In Witness case, some christian-judaist sect.
Well, aren’t they all sects? It seems inevitable that they’d become so, in the scheme of things.
I explain it way better in my book: “Everything you wanted to know about sects (but were afraid to ask).”
