I was thinking of using post it notes. Just turn them upside down, adhere half to each of the boards (underneath). When done simply remove, no damage to the boards.

Quality of the units
Is it me, or has anyone else noticed that the units seem to be a little “different” than the other games? They seem to either be a little lighter or made with a different type of plastic. I compared battleships between the AAR and AA50 and it just seems that they are smaller in AA50 or something. I noticed it the minute I picked one up.

RE: How do subs work?
Thanx for the good clarification on subs so far. I have one more qyuestion that I don’t think I saw brought up. Since BOTH subs get an opening surprise shot, would it the following scenerio be correct?:
1 Cruiser attacks 1 sub. The defending sub gets a surprise shot 1st on the cruiser (should it choose to fight). If the sub rolls a “1”, the cruiser is dead with no retaliation shot and the sub wins? -
RE: Countdown to AA50
Yea, now it is less than two weeks until the release and still no ads or anymore info. I hope they are not planning on delaying yet again.

Wolfpack ability question
Can I use the wolfpack advantage for each of my German subs, or only one? For example, if i have 4 U66’s can each one of them roll an extra die or only one?

RE: US Class & Names
Yes, N stands for nuclear powered, CVL is a light carrier, and CVE is an escort carrier.
A CV was the stanard size fleet carrier. -
RE: Total Domination
What we do is Germany has to take over the world. Germany has to take all three countries over. I usualy play as Germany and take over Russia with no problem (we do not use bidding either). It comes down to 9 times out of ten that I Take Russia and stall out when a large US force lands in Africa and continues to march into russia (obvious a continued supply of US units pound away at Germany) liberating it while the UK either feeds units in through Finland or Norway or sometimes beating away at France. I am just looking for a way to make it a little more balanced for total world domination. One idea worth noting is $6 German subs. I figure they were a bit smaller than their allied counterparts so a reduction in cost was feasible ($2 less might be a stretch). It seemed to work. I was able to prolong any US and UK sea strength for a little while as I also managed to keep the UK down on income by holding convoy routes. It all hinged on the middle east with a big build up of US & German units. I will have to test it a couple more times to see if it is fair or not.

Total Domination
I know the game is not designed for it, but does anyone else play where Germany has to take all of Russia, and both GB and the US? I typically play this way against my father but in all but two games it stalls out after I capture Russia then the game turns around. I have done the Operation Sea Lion and won by finishing off the other two (only haapens that I take GB once in a blue moon). So, if anyone else plays all out, do you have modifications to balance the game?

RE: Air Defense Q…
Excellent! I kept skimming through the rules and must have kept missing it.

RE: Pre-Ordering
So one more question. If you prepurchase it from the places mentioned, will it ARRIVE on the 23rd, or ship on the 23rd. I really want to have it the day it comes out but of course pay the lowest price I can.

Air Defense Q…
Here is my thought: If I have two ships in a square/sector (maybe a carrier and destroyer) and a a couple of enemy planes come in for the attack on the carrier only, am I allowed to also use the destroyer’s anti-air against one set of the planes? The reason I ask is that is one of the big reasons they (DE’s) were around was for air defense for the capital ships. My guess is I am getting a little too involved with details and this would be a house rule or something. Anyone have any thoughts or comments?

Carrier Battles
I am relatively new at the whole miniatures game but am quickly coming up with ways to replay speciific sea battles. My latest interest are carrier battles (ie Coral Sea…Midway ect). The Key to these battles was detection and or surprise. I am curious to know if anyone else has their own house rules to go about this. I was thinking that since each major ship carried scout planes that the board could be divided into a number of sectors. Each one has a die rolled for it. This is where a little variation can come into play. Depending on how many scouts you have (determined by number of large ships) you can increase your chances of detection, or just set it at something like 50/50 chance with the dice (ex: 3,4, or 5 equals detection of all ships in that sector). Once you detect ships (whic occures after the movent phase) you send out the planes and play as normal. If you failed at the detection phase you can not attack the ships in the failed sector. Also, if you have enemy ships within 4 spaces of one another that could equal detection by sight. Any thought or other ideas?

RE: Fghtrs vs Cap. Ships
The fighter aspect makes sense now that I think about it. The only other problem I have are Japans 2 monster battleships. Didn’t the Musashi take something around 16+ torpeados and 20+ bombs to destroy? I don’t have either ship, but from the detail I saw on a stat card, she only has a hull value of 6? that is a mere 3 (6 depending on any special anti torp. ability) topreado hits! Thats a little disapointing unless I am missing soem info.

Pre-Ordering
For those of you that pre-ordered, I was hpoing you could provide from where you did it and how much. I have not done so and am of course looking to purchase at as a reasonable price that I can.

Fghtrs vs Cap. Ships
I noticed that fighters have the machine gun for attack which makes sense. My questions is, can they actually attack and and inflict damage on a Capital Warship (ie-Battleship). Unless I missed reading something, it doesn’t sound right that a fighters guns should do that.
