I have had what I would consider a perfect round for Russia in '42. I recovered the line Baltic States-Belorussia-E.Ukraine-Ukraine on R1 without loss. My brother was maaad. :-o :xI was glaaad. :-o :-D Allies won that game by turn 6.

RE: Strategic Bombing of Germany
I would have somehow tried to attack the bombers wherever they were parked and destroy as many as possible. Its a hard tactic to fight against the bombing raids with that many machines coming in. The AA gun is a slim hope without radar tech.

RE: The UK in the Pacific
This might be true, then again, it is all the less pressure that is put on Germany, which means all the more pressure that Germany can put on Russia, which means that Japan needs fewer guys to take down Russia.
Speaking in such generalizations is rarely useful.
So its just KGF 100% of the time? zzzzzzz…

RE: Am I the only one pissed that this has turned into a KGF?
JTDTM wont work in AA50–'41 or '42. That strat is dead now,IMHO. Not enough time for Japan to build an army capable of threatening the Russian backdoor. Maybe five or six tanks will get close by J4, but by then you can have 6-7 Allied fighters and 3-4 bombers based in Moscow destroying not only these front line units but also the reserves as they try to cut through China and East Russia.

RE: Ultimate gamebreaker tech
what about Mech Infantry coupled with Heavy Artillery? I know the arty wouldnt be able to keep up with the Mech troops and tanks, but man that would be a mean army. :-o

RE: Which nation you prefer?
I wanted to pick a country but I then couldnt make a decision. I love them all (in both scenarios, too). But if you put a gun to my head I would go with Russia. The tension I feel while playing them is incredible and even if they are destroyed, it is perversely satisfying to go down “fighting like a Russian” to the last unit.
edit for grammar

RE: Just How Old Are We Axis and Allies Players?
saw it in a toy store around '86 and I bought it but didnt actually start playing the game until around three years later. I couldnt find anyone to play when I first got it. :|. Im 42.

RE: China wall strategy:
Yes IL,this works very well. Japan is more vulnerable than it looks. I did a similar strategy and it was very effective. I think it could be the dominant strat for the Allies in '41 once people give it a try and see how it stymies the Japs on the mainland. And as the Japs only get 17 IPCs on their first turn, and as they will usually buy a factory for Manchuria, this can work to the Allies advantage as they wont be able to make threats until J3. By this time,Russia has about 4-5 men in China with more on their way from the Soviet Far East.

RE: Who Paid Full Price $99.00 for AA50?
I had to have the game though
I agree Silent…I had to have the game whatever the cost!

RE: Who Paid Full Price $99.00 for AA50?
None of you had to have it shipped to Norway. 80$ for the game, 50$ for the shipping and an additional 35$ in shipping. Anyone paid more than that?
sniff-sniff Do you smell that? sniff …It smells like someone got burned…ouch :-o

RE: G U A R D - german submarine and air strategy for AA50
Your strat could work…If you built an attack fleet of subs on G1 with the intent of launching them into the Atlantic on G2,and if the UK blocks SZ6 with a single destroyer, then Italy attacks the DD with its fighter and attempts to destroy it on I1. If successful, you have an opening to launch your subs out of the Baltic on G2.

RE: Killing Fleets with Bombers
Hell yes!! especially US in '42 with three bombers…

RE: 41?…42?..Nos?....Tech?....
my brother and I played the '42 scenario with NOs and Tech. From now on,we will only play with NO or tech, but not both. Its too much!! By the end of the game, Japan had everything from Tech 2 ( my brother rolled six every time he went for a tech!). US and UK had Heavies. In our game, even Russia could afford one Research token with the extra IPC it gets ( however,it never got one :|). All of these techs and the extra money dragged the game into about 10 rounds, split over two days. The NO money is a little tricky to keep track of and its up to the player who collects the extra money to make sure that he is still eligible to receive it. In other words, the opposing player must remember to keep track of what requirement his enemy needs in order to collect the NO money. After all,the requirements are on the enemys Set-Up Card! Its a bit of an honor system unless you have a dedicated banker.
So we will just play with one or the other,or none. The games last too long with both. -

to answer the subject/question would be no.

KGF is a very boring game. Been there, done that.
I couldnt agree more with you buddy! USA-KGF……zzzzzzzz :|
the only time I would do a KGF start for the US is if I was playing for money. Talk about historic _in_accuracy. The US was all over the Pacific… -
RE: Game report
yeah its got some warts but I like the game so far. It seems that playing with techs and the NOs will make for longer games,as having the extra money allows more units on the map and more tech rolls. Even Russia has money to buy at least one Research token! :-P
