RE: Worst Country to play
Has to be USA.
Its so far away from anything exciting happening, it needs to plan what its going to do turns in advance, and by that time the board may have changed
Its national objectives are dull and pretty much automatic
It also has to build from the ground up turn one, it cant do much with its units to start with, unlike other countries which offer the player a variety of strategies which they can play around with. Instead the the US just gets an either or choice: do I go East or West?

RE: Aggressive UK Pacific Strategies
Okay so after gazing at the board i kind of have an idea, might not be a good idea but hey
If there is no J1 attack, what if you spend 15 IPCs on an airfield and place it in Malaya, move the destroyer and cruiser to join the battleship in SZ 37, and move the entire UKPac air-force to Malaya. If Anzac is in the mood they could on their turn move their fighter from Queensland to Malaya too. You then have a 3 fighter scramble to defend your fleet.
Don’t get me wrong, I know that the Japanese fleet (if its in the right position such as floating around Hainan) could eviscerate that fleet and air-force combined easily.
However, I wonder what having to address that threat would do to the balance of a J2/3 attack. If the Allies don’t scramble their planes and the Japanese go into the fight with not enough to defend their transports, the allied air-forces could pick off isolated parts of the Japanese fleet or just be used elsewhere in South-East Asia. At the very least it doesn’t make Malaya initially very conquerable given Japan’s starting number of transports and reach, and threatens Japan’s security around the money islands.
Much of this would also, I guess, depend on what America did too. If it left its submarine, destroyer and fighter in the Philippines then that’s another sea-fight the Japanese navy needs to fight. If you have an Anzac transport and destroyer off of Java too after them seizing that island, that’s another naval target for Japan. If you entice the Japanese fleet to spread out, you have a shot at dealing some damage to them that could put them on the back foot if the US decides to focus on the Pacific.
let me know your thoughts

RE: How to handle G1 DOW against Russia?
personally i would just head south into the territories of Eastern Poland, Ukraine, Western Ukraine, Rostov, then into Volgograd and the Caucuses, main reason being this is where the money is, doing so takes nearly 1/3 of the Russian income away, and from there you can just cheekily take off the odd 1IPC territory here and there on the northern front if you get the opportunity. IMO taking Stalingrad, the Caucuses and all those 2IPC territories is like getting the money islands with Japan. With a 10 IPC board value followed by 10 IPC bonus value, the whole area gives you 20 IPCs to pocket. Its definitely takes effort to take, but it gives you the most extra cash possible on the way to Moscow.
That’s not to say don’t go for Leningrad if its easy, 5 IPC NO is worth it, but it shouldn’t be a priority IMO.
If you focus on mostly infantry to start with (with some artillery and tanks coming in once you take Ukraine), that gives you higher numbers of units on the front to take Moscow with, as tanks and mechs will catch up at a later point with their double movement pace.

RE: Table Space for Global
My dining table can just and just fit on our dining table (it is a circular table that extends to an oval shape, so the corners go off the edge). There’s some space for the units boxes at the top and bottom of the board, but whoever is the Allies have to stack their boxes.
And whilst the battle board can fit on certain areas of the board like the south Atlantic or Indian Ocean, we use a separate table to conduct battles, which is fun as it feels like we are focused primarily on the battle and not the war, if that makes any sense? Sure it takes time to move everything over, but its a good time to double check unit numbers beforehand for dice roles.
I sadly don’t have a good system for chips and other universal pieces, but next game I will be trialling using a re-purposed tin that can just be passed around between people, or even left in inactive areas of the board.
I don’t know exactly how much space you have or if this is useful to your situation, but its what I do to make use of the little space I have on the table after the board goes on. Don’t forget about where to put all your spare pieces as they need space too!
p.s. I also have a crazy creative idea in my head for a custom portable-cum-interlocking wooden table-top that could support itself on a slightly smaller (but not tiny) table. like SiredBlood’s on YouTube but way more complex (and difficult to make)

RE: Re: Spring 2017 Battle of Britain - 30th April - See Battle Report
Hope you can join us some time h0lym0nk
I see your next Battle of Britain is on June 11?
I might be able to make that, but I’m not 100% certain though. I would only be able to let you know very last minute, maybe only a week before. I’ll drop you a PM to let you know??
PP and his Derbyshire friends are great hosts. Is Always a good day’s gaming.
Good to hear, I hope I can get to play more A&A this way :-)

RE: A&A out of print?
Hey YG
sadly 14 88 can have be used by white nationalists/neo-nazis. in particular 88 is coded to mean the 8th letter of the alphabet ‘H’, which when doubled is an acronym for a phrase used with a certain salute of a certain German leader. Wikipedia 88 for the 14 explanation
sad to see on this forum, hopefully just a troll

RE: Re: Spring 2017 Battle of Britain - 30th April - See Battle Report
Thanks guys
I currently live just south of Northampton, but also near Milton Keynes. Main barrier to games at the moment is my lack of a driving licence (something i never got round to doing when i was a teenager) but that should be dealt with soon.
I realise you guys are in Derbyshire and Hereford respectively, are there many other brits online?
