ive played a lot of games by myself too, it can be quite interesting if you make sure that planes, tanks and ships are moved into territories from which they can attack multiple countries. In that way counter attacks are harder, as you can choose between several options in the turn itelf. It also benefits your game against other people, if your main strategy gets countered, you allways have a plan B.

RE: Question regarding the purchase of units
Blue chips? i got red ones with WaW  I never run out of units, i use from all games combined (AAE, AA, AAP and WaW) and i play aggresive, so no need for even more units.
Good job at Avalon Hill for including more chips in AAE, AAP. I allways went short on the original game, and now i only use 10% of the available chips in the expansions. Bit overdone imo

you did a great job on that kurt, it makes every game different, as rather small changes tend to alter the game completely.

RE: Question regarding the purchase of units
nah, as the manual says: you can use straps of paper with the unit written on it or something if you ran out of the particular unit.

RE: What rules or options make the game FAIR?
oh something else about axis advantage…
the super subs for japan are kinda funny. Cause Japan only starts with 1 submarine, which will most likely be destroyed after hawaii. And the rest of the game Japan wont buy any subs :smile:Very very very small advantage there

Newbie question on AAP
i bought the game last tuesday  So heres my question…
Can kamikazes be used to attack subs? -
RE: UK advice
i would use the BS at gibraltar and the sub if it survived to destroy the german mediterranean fleet. And use the other ships to attack scandinavia, africa or western europe. Then buy 1 tranny, 1 factory and 2 infantry i think, depends what your game strategy is.

RE: How can the allies win in AAE?
The size would be fine if the game board just had more territories. Russia can defend itself by massing infantry at the Ukraine-Belorussia-Leningrad line. I wanna see german tanks blitzing through russia while russian infantry defends important strategic points like cities etc.

Infantry in WAW
Infantry can be placed on territories without industrial complex. I really hate this rule, britain can build only infantry every turn and place them on every territory in both asia and africa. Theres no way Germany can take Africa like that, and the battles get boring because blitzing is impossible as there is at least 1 infantry on all territories in danger of being captured. This rule really is one of the reasons i barely play this game

RE: Radical U.S. First Turn Option
block japan…you nevertheless gotta be a good player to hold out with germany. I haven’t played that many people who can defend itself against all 3 allies. And i think russia is easily defendable vs Japanese, Russia can focus on Germany and wait for the Japanese to reach Moscow then move everything there to defend it. Most jap players will try all out and lose 90% of their forces on mainland of asia.

RE: 1st turn Japanese attack on Hawaii
i recently though of using the sub to block the retreat of the us fleet into the pacific. Any thoughts on this?

RE: German Opening Move (w/RR and 2HBS)
hmm yes i think so, i allways play all out germany though, so wouldnt know.

RE: How can the allies win in AAE?
the thing that makes the original game so much fun is the many options you have. Britain needs to divide its few forces between several theatres to maintain its income. Thats what it makes so fun. In AAE the allies have only one victory, so everything can be directed to Germany. In this situation, a perfect build up and attack scheme will dominate the game, while in the original A&A there were various strategies good enough to win the war and it all depended more on luck with the dice due to the small number of units on the board. Thats why i think AAE should be played with less units on the gameboard. These massive battles in Ukraine and Belorussia are boring and the outcome is usually the same.

RE: German Opening Move (w/RR and 2HBS)
germany lacks infantry on turn 1, so you will A.lose some tanks B.Send your fighters and bombers to help out and to neglect the british and us navy. Either way your gonna end up in a vulnerable position.

RE: What rules or options make the game FAIR?
jet power for germany benefits them quite a lot, more then japanese i think. Since jet power increases defence, i barely see any japanese fighters defend a territory, they are usually on the attack, whereas german fighters in western and eastern europe are for the most part of the game on defence. Long range aircraft would benefit the Japanese a bit more
