Storing pieces
So I have 4 of the main axis and allies sets, not to mention the smaller games. I keep most of my pieces in the 50th box, but that is getting pretty clustered. What are good suggestions for storring pieces without dropping a couple of hundred bucks . I may get the ammo box thing, but is it big enough for global, 50th and revised sets to all fit in it, cause if not no point as i want to reduce the whole thing.

RE: Pieces count
Seeing as this brings brings my piece count well over 2k I am sure I am fine, although some of the new things like tacs and mech, and new countries, may be a bit stretched depending how games and strats go

RE: Tank Purchases R.I.P.
WARNING! : The following is just my opinion based on what I have read.
turns 1 and 2 germany should be building loads of infantry to defend against Overlord, a few aircraft, and some navy so the rest doesnt get sunk too early and gives the uk something to worry about and leave the med alone, and a few transports will help keep them honest too.
Anyways, after this I would be building tank/mech combos so I can keep them racing forward. Maybe a amphibious landing in Russia to help keep them split on where to defend.
But since I play Japan usually I figure Germany can do whatever it wants and I will just send 12 tanks at some point into russia to really screw with them.
And before anyone says anything about 18 infantry, they wont last long if Japan makes 1 concentrated effort to kill them. Unlwess I misunderstand some neutrality rule or something.

RE: HEAVY BOMBERS NERFED TO WORTHLESSNESS???
this is my point, get hvy bmrs and you win within a few turns, or lose if the other guy got it. this now means navies wont dissappear in moments.

RE: Industrial complexes, scrambling, islands
Well, as far as I understand it, islands like Japan, Australia, and UK are the only exceptions to the IC on islands rule, as they are countries with actual industry existing before the war, whereas Borneo may have industry, but not to the extent needed and so cant support the complex and no one will be shipping factories to it.
As for scrambling I have no idea what your talking about as I thought scrambling was a rule that went with all airbases, but my pac book is upstairs so I wont be checking either.

RE: HEAVY BOMBERS NERFED TO WORTHLESSNESS???
personally i like the idea that games wont end within 2 turns of someone getting super bombers, cause that is all that happens. turn they get it they buy bombers and thats all they buy from then on, just becomes innevitable at that point unless they were close to collapsing. This is much better.

RE: Cruisers and tac bombers new abilities

RE: Picture of US & Sea Zones together, West meets East
@i:
the prarie provinses should be worth 1 maybe 2ipcs
ontario should be worth 3ipcs
bc should be worth 1 or 2ipcs
martime provinces should be worth 1.5ipcs
quebec should be worth 2.5 ipcsBeing a Canadian who knows a little something of our history, I would like to say no. Were we important? Hell yes, pilots spies, special forces and not to mention our soldiers and the navy we used to put the hurt on Germany with did loads. But as for material value, we were much lower. Yes we have lots of resources, but they were not as important as some may think. Food and supplies came from here because UK needed them, and too be honest our IPCs are mostly represented in those of the UK, as they were unable to supply most of what they needed for the war, so we shipped it over then they put it to use. THe few IPCs in Canada represent naval and army and air units we raised ourselves, which was quite impressive at over a million fighting men, was next to nothing when compared to other big powers. So my advice, my young friend, is build a minor IC in the maritimes and build detroyers out of it, and just think that there are loads of Canadians fighting, they are just in with the UK armies.
Also, to validate my point go visit Fredericton NB, my last home before i moved to quebec and see how much it has grown in 40 years, as durring the WW2 period, very little of it existed, a few blocks aroiund city hall and some farms, it was almost all woods. This was common of Canada in the period, and durring WW2 we only had 11 million people, and only due to immigration from other nations have we reached our current population, which is still less than 10% of the US.
As for any other country like holland, etc being powers, no, as they will just stretch resources as has been mentioned, and in reality gave little to the war in most cases or just became part of the larger war effort of their big neighbours. If you want to play small countries in WW2 get Hearts of Iron for the PC, and see how fun it is to be one of those nations next to germany.

RE: Japanese Strategies
WHat I aways do now is J1 build 2 ICs in Asia, preferably near the fighting. Then J2 build 3 tanks at each, and do this again J3. Now to go with all the men you have shipped from japan you have a formidable force that will quickly over run china, and by J4 or J5, India has fallen. This will be even better in Global I think as it will scare the shit out of Russia, having that many tanks possibly sitting behind them, may give Germany an edge if some start lining up on the border with mech infantry forcing russia to sit more in moscow and the east than on the western lines.

RE: Are Cruisers ever worth it?
All depends on which country you are playing. ANZAC should seldom buy a cruiser, like every 2-3 turns, if only because they happen to have a couple extra bucks, so why not have a better ship. UK needs them if they plan to go with a navy because they need ships to compete, but cant always afford BB, and a destroyer isnt always enough. Japs, I always buy some of them, as mixed with the cheaper ships it gives me nice strong shots to fire while my cheaper ships shield it, but having lots of cash I will seldom have many more of these than I do my capitals, usually ratio of 1 BB : 1 CV : 1.5 Cruiser (do not know that designation lol), so near end game I will have around 6 of the first 2 and 9 cruisers. US is the only country that should have a decent number of these, since to me, the first 3 turns (if war takes that long, which in our games it does) I would build a cruiser and save 5, then that way the turn I come in I have 15 extra IPCs which will buy most of a Battleship.

RE: Lets talk UK builds…
not being allowed to build IC?
As for me playing passively, my strategy is to be done with asia when US enters. I have a bit more of an ANZAC issue this way than when I go all out for the allies, but by neutering the UK and gaining all those IPCs from asia andthe money islands lets me go toe to toe with the US, and I find by forcing him to wait so long to play, makes him antcy to get to it, and thus make mistakes. My record is a bit better than 50% wins, obviously meaning this isnt the be all to end all strat, but it comes down to bad rolls for me means slower push in asia, then I am dead. Only once did I do so poorly that I conceded.

RE: Do you want canada as a power
Well if they just make canada worth a decent number of ipcs (which I assume they will have too seeing as anything they make in the pacific will be used there) and give it a couple of minor complexes ( one in the center and another on the atlantic coast), then it will be used, and it will force the germans to put some effort into the atlantic to really hurt the convoy zones.

RE: What will be wrong with AAAE: 1940?
Honestly, if there are any big flaws (map drawn poorly as is the current case wth P40, not enough pieces, crappy boxes, etc) I will just never buy another set. After this I will have revised, 50th, P40/E40, d-day, and battle of the bulge. I should be set for that type of game and can move 100% to fantasy flight who make games that are good, seem to be correct out of the box most of the time, and have real support.
