RE: Larry Harris 1914 Tournament Rules ( "potential rules" using his language)
Like the report Commando only one problem I thought Paris was a must in this one. I realize you could win an economic victory I am guessing that is what you guys were shooting for. Thanks for the report. I am getting my buds together in a couple of weeks and we will be using these rules.

RE: 1940, France falls, now what..
I believe the book was called Barbarossa that had the info about the Russia invasion of Germany. I don’t know why you guys see this as a impossibility. Look at what we already know of a Stalin Russia. They attacked Finland and had no problem gobbling part of Poland why is it so hard to believe they would take a shot at Germany? I pretty much thought that would be common knowledge knowing what we know of Stalin. Guess I’m wrong.

RE: Already Looking Forward to 1914 2nd Edition
Hey guys I have looked through this rulebook at least 5 times and can’t find anywhere where it says Italy joins on round 2. I know Larry said this when he was previewing the game but I can’t find it. Care to help the old man out anyone?
Thanks

RE: Already Looking Forward to 1914 2nd Edition
I agree on a lot of you guys points but the issue of Belgium hasn’t been brought up. Belgium was never completely conquered in this conflict and should be given a larger standing army than they have. Also Bulgaria and Romania should be in that vain as well. I know it would be hard to carve Belgium up into 3 territories but I believe that is what should be done to mirror how it was real tough going for the Germans.

RE: Larry Harris 1914 Tournament Rules ( "potential rules" using his language)
Hey Krieg the last thing I am doing is taking any kind of shot at you or Larry. This game has meant a lot to me and the many people I have introduced to. My 4 favorite things (family, sports teams(Jets,Blues,Notre dame),fishing and Axis and Allies). I only wish to open the game like I did with say AA europe the first version and be captivated by the pieces and board and how they work with the great set of rules that Larry and you built. I am not unlike you or Larry in the fact that I want these games to be the best they can be so that I am playing them and passing them on to my son in the years to come. My friends and I wore out the board on the original and played the first expansions a lot. I want these latest versions to be like that. I offered to help playtest in the future with my group not to insult you but to help.(Also thought it would be pretty cool). I plan on using these tournament rules as the permanent rules for the game. Thanks for your efforts to this game and this community.

RE: New Stalingrad movie due this year..
I wonder if this film will get to most theaters? If it does I will give it whirl.

RE: 1940, France falls, now what..
I think you guys are really onto something here. If Germany would have thrown half of their forces for the Russian invasion into Africa/Middle East it would have been a relative cake walk. Not to mention it would give Germany the oil it desperately while at the same time completely demoralizing the English people into a possible surrender. I have read in a couple of books that evidence has been discovered that Stalin was going to attack Hitler the following year. He might have done it sooner if the Germans were getting too close for comfort in the South.

RE: Most overrated person in WWII
Read about the Normandy invasion. We built a fictional army in England around Patton for the reason I just described. The Germans were convinced the Allies would have their best general Patton lead the allied invasion at Calais. Get in the last word because I know you will but I am right on this one.

RE: Most overrated person in WWII
There is proof watch A bridge too far or Patton for that matter. I highly doubt that would’ve been put in there had it been untrue. I get the fact in Patton they are trying to glamorize him but in A bridge too far the German generals were convinced Patton would lead the charge into Holland. It is also in the book A bridge too far by Ryan. It’s the way it was accept it. BTW when the Germans were winning they had numerical superiority as well.

RE: The Japanese British/ Dutch War of 1941
We would have cut off all ties with them. The next one would have been a declaration of war.

RE: Most overrated person in WWII
If Patton was such a horrible general why did the Germans fear him so much? I would vote for Monty only because every battle he had a huge numerical advantage and casualties were rather high. Herman Goering was a great pilot but a poor leader as head of the German air force. Walter Modell was right behind him though. Nagumo was overrated for the Japanese. Should’ve kept going at Pearl and ostensibly lost the war for the Japanese at Midway.

RE: Larry Harris 1914 Tournament Rules ( "potential rules" using his language)
I like these new rules on the surface. More of a realistic feel. I really hope in the future these games are playtested more before they are released so we don’t have to continually go through this. Krieg I have got a group of about 10 guys who I play with I am voluteering our services for the next one. The more people that playtest the better as far as I’m concerned. Will play with these rules.

Looks better with every update IL. Loving it can’t wait to buy.

RE: NEW- Official Global 1942 version of the game- by Larry Harris
Set it up last night. I agree Germany a little understrengthed on the Eastern front. Otherwise I like it. USA has Solomons and a fight brewing in the South Pacific. Like it.

RE: True Neutrals in the 1914 game
I think Switzerland is the only country anyone should attack. When you use your units to kill neutrals you are taking them away from where you need them. Taking Holland makes no sense to me for Germany. You lose your units which you need to attack France and later in the game it is just another spot you have to defend again.

RE: 1
I said it in a earlier post if they would playtest these games more we wouldn’t get as many of them ,but I believe the community would be a lot happier because it would be a better game. I think this games mechanics are great. I love the way the combat works but I do feel the Central will typically run out of gas 80% of the time. With a few more unit types(Heavy artillery, bombers) and maybe industrial tech(Gas,long range aircraft and advance artillery) this game could be the best ever. Heres to Second edition boys and girls cause it’s a coming.
