I actually tried downloading the first two versions/options, but I guess I didn’t do so hot on either! :-P
Maybe I should give a rundown of what I’m doing and let you decide where I’m messing up.

OK, so now I’ve got troubles opening the AA50 module(s). What am I supposed to save it as? Because when it wants to save, it comes up saying open with X program or save the file. Well, no matter what I seem to do, it will only open under Adobe Acrobat. Should it be that? Or did I mess up big time somewhere?
Hey, I’m having trouble opening the files and getting them into Battlemap. I can download the module files, and I downloaded that 7-UP or 7-Zip program, but after that, I am unable to open anything and don’t know what else to do. Any thoughts?
Hey, where’s the sign-up forum/thread to play people for AA50? How can a noob like me (well, noob to AA50) get to learn to play if there’s no place to say ‘hey, anyone want to play or tutor me?’ Is it basically PM people to play at the moment?
Hah! Sweet, I didn’t know I could do all that, of adding men and changing income. Sweet dealio! By the way, where can I find the right board set up, if, as Jen is saying, the Triple A map is flawed?
OK, so let’s say you owned Belorus. And you had 5 infantry there. Let’s say you wanted to move them to Eastern Europe because you needed them there more. So you move your inf. That territory you just vacated is STILL yours. It still has your German marker on it/is still grey territory. At the end of your turn you would collect the income for that territory. If you vacate a territory you own, you do not lose income.
As for your second example with the US, no you wouldn’t move up any income. Mexico is still yours. All your green territories are yours and you don’t need to have a man in every one. If you captured an Axis territory then your income would go up or if the Axis captured one of your IPC territories, then your income would go down.
Hope that helps.
Is there anything by way of a new “map” for Triple A for AA50? I haven’t bought the actual game yet, and thought taking a look the virtual way might be nice. Also, where can I find the rules book? Do I have to go through the errata first? :-P
Because I discovered that even bidding 8, the ratio was getting 2 games as axis for 1 as allies :-D. If I want allies, the minimal bid is 9
A trannie for Germany is nice, but a trannie for Japan leads to some habilities that many would label as … unnatural (said with Palpatine’s voice )
Sorry for the Star Wars cameo :-D
  :-D :-D Heheheh, + 1 Karma Func, that was priceless.
yup, i’m not opposed to bidding, just thinking about the pros and cons of different methods.
re: the tourney, if ALL axis players won, maybe people were bidding too much to play allies, no?
I’m not sure I understand what you mean, but I don’t think anyone technically “bids” to have the Allies. People sometimes bid high because they hope they can get the Axis with that high bid and use it wisely and put it to go use, say 2-3 inf to Ukraine or 2-3 inf to Libya or even something in Asia/Pacific theatre. But I don’t think people - well, I sure don’t want to always play the Allies :-P :-D - always bid high just to want to play the Allies. But some do. Most don’t, I think.
Most bidding goes to the Axis, as if the Allies were ever used effectively - and they can be - they could quite potentially crush Germany and in the process save Russia’s bacon before it was taken by the Japs. It seems the Axis needs help on many fronts, but usually the IPCs go towards men in Africa, so Germany can hit it hard, or to the European theatre, such as in Belo or the Ukraine.
Yeah, I suppose the bidding does skew things the game designer maybe never meant it to, but sometimes the bid can be quite helpful.
If you really want to see how effective an Axis bid is, it seems in the latest tourney, ALL the Axis players won, which is maybe saying something about the bid.
I was just wondering if a program for AA 50 has been implemented yet for Triple A or if something is in the works. I hear the game play is a bit … flawed after reading people’s comments. So yeah, I’m just wondering if anything is on the go for AA50 /Triple A + any rules fixings and stuff. Thanks.
Can someone tell me what National Objectives are and what the do? I’m not sure about them. And maybe pointing me toward a thread with the explanation might help too. tHanks.
The developer’s forum. Go to the main page that lists all the forums and then go to, I think, the software page. That might be where you can get more info.
Does anyone know how to install a Flash plug-in for Vista? I’m having trouble doing so, can’t play games or see things, and whenever I attempt to install it, it says I have to close Firefox first. But how do I “close” Firefox?
So Jen (and anybody else), what would make you use Triple A if you already don’t? What features would you want to see added/fixed/taken away for it to improve?
Jen,
I had just finished writing up my statement when you posted yours a few seconds before mine. I just thought I’d point out I wasn’t responding to what you said, nor did I take into account what you said neither. My bad if you thought I was replying to your statement.
I’m sure everyone already knows this, but this movie is based on a historical fiction book, so liberties have been/were taken by the writer when he wrote the book. The only thing I guess “true” or “accurate” would/will probably be the units the men were in, uniforms and some other things. I’m not attempting to downplay the movie and what is portrays, I thought I’d just point it out. :|
@The:
I’m curious as to why more people prefer Battlemap over Triple A. With AAA, you don’t have to do as much work with all the “flags” and land changes and such. It seems there are problems with Battlemap in that regard. Anyway, I’d like to hear your reasons why you use either or and what makes each so good in being your map of choice.
No Mapview in your poll?
I guess everyone has their favorites.
It’s like everything else in life: trade-offs. Pros and cons for each.
Sorry A_R, I had forgotten about Mapview. But considering so few people use it around here - based on the fact in League games people always say they use in-house dice and Battlemap, followed by a small amount of Triple A’ers - I didn’t bother to include it in my polling.
But since you use it, why not explain/extol its virtues and why you use it.

What are some various ways to promote fighting in the Pacific?
The Axis and Allies Revised Pacific Theater Drinking Game, of course.
Wrath-man, where you been hiding lately? Haven’t seen you around in quite some time.
