RE: Fighters and subs
@Mork:
although destroyers are nice to be able to prevent them from submerrging.
And on the down side the sub can shoot the Destroyers and when the plane and destroyer both miss and the sub doesn’t the sub can still submerge.

RE: We are all cheating…
The question is if you should be allowed knowledge of the first round of combat A before combat B (the critical one) is completed or vice versa. Frankly I don’t think it is a problem. The proverbial mountain out of a mole hill. You have to go for 1 round in all of your combats.

RE: We are all cheating…
Most of those decisions have been made when you made your combat moves. It can make a difference but I don’t think it does very often.

RE: Play any instruments?
In my own lifetime far away I worked for a sound reinforcement company and as I.A.T.S.E. stage hand.

RE: One more
It is about a one night stand.
The “Or leave a bad taste in your mouth?” is a double entendre.

Played Sax (Alto or Baritone) in the high school marching band.

RE: We are all cheating…
I have combined round 1’s when using the in site dicey. I don’t think that I’ve have bailed on a questionable battle because of the “advance” info. I’m sure there will come a point when the info will inform a decision though.
There is a time savings involved with getting all of the round 1’s in in one post. You are locked into those anyway. It also cleans up the threads a little. But yes you might not press something if a round 1 elsewhere went badly or press something if something went well.
I will abide with whatever “policy” is put in place on this. I don’t think it is as major as “cheating” but it is a stretch of the rules. As the in-site dicey is “legal” for tourney and league the “cheat” or the custom of the forum games is usable by all, making it “fair.”

RE: A few Q's
There is a sticky thread near the top of this board with links to LHTR.

RE: Internet playing
Also while some folks use their gameboards most use some sort of electronic map such as battlemap or mapview or both in the case of one of my games.
Here is a link to mapview and a link to a tutorial someone wrote on using it. Mapview is prettier than battlemap. I’m just getting exposed to it and I’m not sure how much “resistance to change” vs “like battlemap better” I’m experiencing.

I don’t have a link to Abattlemap.

RE: Roads and Cities
To back up IL, you must stop when you enter a city that is enemy controlled. Paying the blitz cost will allow you to go one hex past the city that made you stop.
Paying the blitz cost gives tanks one more hex of movement no matter the reason the tank was made to stop: entering an enemy ZOC; entering an enemy city; you were moving off road; your tank was leaving an enemy ZOC.
-
RE: Tank without supply!
Not necessarily. Supplies may be drawn for a hex from any friendly controlled hex adjacent to the hex with the units. To the best of my knowledge there are no hexes not adjacent to a road or that don’t have a road running through them.
-
RE: Tank without supply!
1.- How can i move a tank that doesnt have supply in an hex without a road?
A unit that hasn’t had a supply token paid to its hex can not move even on a road. A tank that has had a supply paid to its hex may move 1 hex.
2.- Im not sure that i understand correctly the rules about roads, can a allies western tank reinforcement enter the map and end in the front line the same turn?
A truck or tank may move any number of hexes along a road provided they do not enter a Enemy ZOC or an enemy town. A unit leaving an enemy ZOC may only move 1 hex even along a road. (Except for tanks that have had their blitz cost paid. They may move 1 additional hex.) So yes a unit may enter on the West edge of the board and move into the front line.
3.- Can Allies northern reinforcements enter in the front line?
If that hex is on their side of the front line, yes. Eupen or Verviers for instance.

RE: Allied Strat Article
The Allies can win. I went 1 for 1 as them yesterday. Totally decimated in game 1 in the first turn. I had about three units make it off the front line too many holes Germany captured nearly all the supplies on the board at game start. Game 2 went much better despite the Axis capturing 6 supply tokens at St. Vith. Most of the other supplies were used and the Allies were able to keep a continuous line till air power tipped the game. Germany didn’t have enough supplies by the end to conduct the combats needed much less move in afterwards.

RE: German buys turn one
IL, I think the idea of a strategy guide is terrific. I don’t envision its creation or my eventually reading it as being fruitless.
One of the first things someone said to me by way of advice when I was learning to play A&A (Classic) is, “Germany doesn’t get a navy.” He was sinking it at the time.

RE: Why do folks think aircraft can only hit aircraft?
In History vs. Hollywood there was a guy who was there and said that didn’t happen. He said Patton would have done that but the planes were gone to fast. The part where the UK air marshall says they have complete air superiority and they get attacked by planes is true.
