    • Victory condition

      So I’m planing a game and I’m going to have 4 hours of playing time. So it’s obvious that were not going to finish the game so I’m trying to invent a victory condition. I thought about economic victory but than the CPs and Allies are going to focus on economy than the actual victory. So I’m try to say is that I want a condition that doesn’t take their focus off the real victory and we are using OOB rules since I’m teaching these guys the game.

      Do you guys think adding some VCs (like Budapest and St. Petersburg) and who ever has the most wins is a good idea?

      So some help or advise would be nice. :-D

    • RE: 1939 Scenario for the 1942.2 Map and Pieces

      @Argothair:

      It’s a fair question. Thematically, Russia is at war in 1939 because if Stalin wanted to invade a territory, there was nobody to tell him not to. In 1939 Russia was fighting wars in both Finland and Mongolia, and occupied the Baltic States with over 20,000 troops. It’s not as if Russia was on a peacetime footing – even though they had relatively friendly relations with Germany, they could have chosen to attack Germany in 1939 if they wanted to.

      Mechanically, Russia is at war because it’s boring for the only Allied nation that can fight the Nazis to be the British. The game moves slowly enough without being told something like “Oh, by the way, all you can do on turns 1 and 2 is just reshuffle your troops.”

      That said, if you want to add a house rule that says Russia can’t attack Germany until turn 3 unless Russia attacks Germany first, go right ahead.

      My point is that Russia was more leaning towards axis than allies during 1939, but I would say they aren’t at war unless Germany attacks them until R2. What you could do is roll a dice in the beginning and if it’s a 6 Russia joins the axis, but america is immediately in the war. If it’s a 1 then Russia is immediately at war with the axis R1. If it’s 2, 3, 4, or 5, then they stay neutral until R2 unless there attack by Germany.

    • RE: United Kingdom Strategy (Video)

      @Young:

      @Frederick:

      YG, I know this maybe off topic but have you consider doing 1st edition strategies? I know it’s a bit old now with people going liking 2nd edition better, but my friends have 1st edition and I don’t think they want to just change to 2nd edition rules and setup. I’m maybe going to play a game with them soon. I already have made great axis strategies making me really want to be them, but the allies are a bit hard(mostly UK since they start really weak).

      Hey Frederick II, Larry and his team slowly whined me off 1st edition during the Alpha project and I have never looked back. I might do a setup comparison video in the future, but 2nd edition is much better IMO, and I always recommend upgrading.

      Well when I get Global I’m getting 2nd edition when I can, but I think my friends are sticking to 1st. I think a setup comparison will be great especially with the crazy amount of aircraft that both Japan and USA start out with. Like US has 4 bombers! Japan has 24 tacs./fighters.

      I have a quick question why is Russia at war when they weren’t in 1939?

    • RE: 1942.2 More starting Factories at select 1 ipc/production territories

      I like the idea it gives you more strategies and it makes certain fronts becomes more important like north africa because let’s say UK and the US had took over north africa and now with those ICs they can start building to invade italy. It also makes the south pacfic  to have more and bigger battles than what it usually has.

    • RE: Best unit choice for "Operation Barbarossa" for Germany

      So I want to see if this is right.

      You buy some infantry/artillery and when you make your landing (let’s say Leningrad) you start buying stacks of tanks/mech. and make your push.   (I am not skipping the purchases for the navy and aircraft)

      Edit. After seeing the post below quick thing to add. So after a little while your need to start buying strat. bombers or maybe tac. bombers.

      Also quick question how can you buy 10 artillery on turn 1 when you have 30 ipcs?

    • RE: Minimalist Rebalancing for the 1942.2 Map

      Great ideas, but I don’t like the whoever controls 11 or more VCs win because it’s almost easy for the allies to hold or take back their VCs I quickly go for Tunis and win so I would boost it up to 12 or 13 to seem fair. (not saying will always happen) :roll:

      Also I think you will probably need to get a 2nd map so if you want one to be regular and the other to be your testing one mainly because I only have one map and if I want to play on the regular map I now some different things on my map.

    • Best unit choice for "Operation Barbarossa" for Germany

      I have a quick question what units do you purchase for driving to moscow with the germans is it like mostly tanks and mech. infantry, or infantry and artillery? (Of course you need to buy aircraft)

    • RE: Initial Troop Deployment

      Hello Pike, I have a few ideas you could use, like……

      1. Add 2 infantry, to Siakang. (Please correct me if I spelled the territory’s name wrong)

      2. You could you Argothair’s idea by adding some art or even more inf in Buryatia.

      3. You can even start with a IC in Szechuan!

    • RE: Austria-Hungary war plan

      I think the best time for Russia to buy fighters is if the RR is not being used and when they have giant stacks of infantry (mostly in the late game) then they buy artillery and fighters to start giving them fire power to go offense against the CP but this only happens in rare cases where Russia can go offense. Or you should buy fighters and artillery when the CPs go west instead of east (that’s the best thing to see :-D) because you are going to need them to really annoy the CPs!

    • RE: 1942.2 All ships cost 2 ipcs less

      I like your idea Argothair, because it’s smarter to have the smaller ships 1 ipc less then like the bigger ships like 2-4 ipcs cheaper.

      Do you guys think that US should get Spanish Morocco if France doesn’t get it or do you think France should get it. I think attacking Spain is a smart move to do unless Rome or Paris is in trouble. But you must choose delay 1 round and really likely to take it early or don’t wait and attack soon as possible and likely not to take it early and be aggressive. I here people say that France can attack Spain, but when do you do that and with how many forces do you bring?

    • RE: Behind the Urals: 1942.2 Russian starting Factory Rule

      Russia can now get their troops to Japan faster and Russia should watch Japan now because they can threaten those ICs easier when they expand in asia. I like this because it’s so historical.

    • RE: 1942.2 All ships cost 2 ipcs less

      Germany could buy 10 subs (with 1 ipc left over) so Germany can go sub crazy. I like cheaper sea units because they cost so much that there less desirable and now USA can get more of their troops to Europe. It also means bigger sea battles in the Pacific.

      So I like the idea. :-D

      US should attack Spain if Italy can hold for reinforcements or if they can’t then US shouldn’t attack and reinforce Italy.
