I agree with Jennifer, i don’t think it’s wise to spend 16 IPC’s from the limited Russian monetary supply on naval units. It’s not up to the Russians to clear the seas. That’s better left to the UK & US.
Oh yeah,
PS: AXIS all the way!

This game IS fun on a saturdayevening! :-D
@Cmdr:
My thoughts are thus:
If Germany wasted 16 IPC on a Carrier, go Barents until you can sink the Baltic fleet for no cost (or relatively no cost) to the allies.
Is it such a bad idea to buy a AC on G1? It is something that happens a lot in the games I play…
So what? The British fighter can land on Hawaii? I thought that it couldn’t land on Hawaii if the Hawai-fleet was attacked by Japan. Man, have I been playing a bit like a dumb***.
Thx for the info
Hm, the masked man eh?
I would guess he was the phantom of the opera…
Agreed, uniting against Germany is important, but getting your Indian and Australian fleet to the Atlantic Ocean is going to take a lot of turns isn’t it? I think instead of wasting time by transferring your UK Fleets they are better used against the Japs.
But then again, that’s just my opinion and none of you have to agree with me… :-)
It depends on how I’m feeling :-D
Sometimes I won’t attack until I’m at least 75% sure, and in other games I just let myself go and throw myself out there(I once attacked Moscow with maybe 30% chance of winning the battle…
Sometimes you just have to trust your gutfeeling
Yeah, ok. That’s a plan for the Allies, but without an additional IC for the UK you’re not doing a lot against the Japs now are you?
I think that even in a KGF you should slow down the Japs as much as possible.
I know the chances of this succeeding are very slim indeed, but hey: no guts, no glory right?
If there are any Belgian players that read this forum, then please contact me. I’m trying to enhance our circle of tabletop-generals…
Mostly played is the revised version of the game, but we’re working our way up with the Europe-version.
Grtz
@Bunnies:
So if you say you’re pulling CONSISTENT victories with this Allies plan, I’d have to raise an eyebrow. Frankly, I suck with Axis, but in the cases that I have won, it’s usually after the Allies try to do something like split their concentration as described above.
Well, I didn’t say I was pulling consistent victories. I meant a few times, like 2 or 3 times. But thanks for suggesting some Jap opportunities for such an first Allied move. Perhaps my next game will go a little different than the last time…… :-D
Is it even wise for the Japs to go for Australia? In a lot of our games, taken Australia results in a crucial loss of time for the Japs. And since the Allies usually choose KGF, time means everthing for the Axis because the Japs will have to win the game for the Axis.
Well, isn’t it possible to choose a Germany first but slow down Japanese expansion?
Me and some friends usually use this a first move in a KGF:
-Russia: Place 6 INF in the country bordering Manchuria and land our 2 fighters in India
-UK: Build IC in India and use the destroyer from the India fleet to take out the lonely Jap transport. Take out the Jap sub with the UK sub from Australia and fighter from India fleet. Land the fighter on US carrier.
-US: If possible attack and sink the remnants of the Jap fleet that attacked the US Hawai fleet. Buy transports and troops in the Atlantic preparing an assault on Europe.
This has been used a few times and really slowed down the Japs, giving the Allies enough time to defeat Germany.
I don’t know if it is a good plan, but it has already given me a few victories
Thx everyone, I think now we can spice up our games
Hi everyone, I have a question.
My friends and I have been playing for some time and we’re trying to create a greater challenge for us. So we’re thinking about playing with the national advantages. But we’re having trouble to even out the advantages amongst the 5 nations.
Do any of you have any suggestions to get a balanced game with the national advantages?
Is it really so wise to use your strategic bomber against Germany’s industry so early in the game?
Me and my friends rarely use our bombers against IC’s unless it is to strangle a country completly(for instance if the russians are on ± 15 IPC’s left).
In our humble opinion it’s better to save your bomber for battles, because it has a high success rate.
