Bonaparte or R. Lee? Bonaparte had a legitimate chance. Not sure that Lee ever did. Maybe if McClellan had won the 64 election Lee might have gone out a winner.

RE: Have you ever cheated at an A&A game?
Well?
Have you ever cheated at axis and allies?
I have made numerous errors and then discovered them several turns later. But being a senior citizen I think that I can be forgiven those transgressions. One of our major problems is keeping an accurate IPC count. Besides the regular chart I started keeping a log. That helps a lot. Still not perfect though.

First plane ride?
In what type of aircraft did you have your very first plane ride? Mine was in a Ford tri-motor MANY years ago. It may have been in 1940. I was very young and dont remember much.

RE: HBG - Axis & Allies Parts/Accessories and Custom Piece Sets Store!
HBG German Tigers and 251s are up on the site now for individual sale. Black and Dark Grey.
Need to purchase more aircraft, please, to bolster the war effort.
We’re working on it  Give us a little more time. I’ll try to give the heads up as we get it done.
I am still waiting for those German individual units. I need some JU52 tri-motors, some panzer IIs, some heavy artillery and some ME-262s.

RE: Tigerman's Barbarossa Game now at HBG
@SS:
I’m just going to put this game away for awhile until all the changes stop.
Do not hold your breath until all the changes stop. This Barbarossa game is still in the testing stages. Look how many changes Larry Harris made through the years. Started with a simple global game and now how many are there now? Plus two Europe and two Pacific games. Axis and Allies games are always about change. Trying to improve and make them better. Jump into Barbarossa with both feet and post your thoughts.

RE: Han Solo is back!
@ABWorsham:
My kids are excited about the older cast in a new role. I believe it will be either great or crash and burn.
What else is left?

RE: What happened on your birthday in WW2?
This seems really strange to me! Most members of this forum were not even born yet 1939 thru 1945. How could you all have a birthday before being born? LOL

RE: Attacking A British Convoy II
According to wikipedia, the Tirpitz had a top speed of 30 knots.
In comparizon, the destroyers had a speed of 27 knots according to this article:
The Tirpitz was indeed a fast battleship. WWII destroyers speed ranged all the way to the mid 30s knts. The U.S. Fletcher class ships were rated at 36 knts. I imagine that older types might fall short of 30 knts. So I guess it all depends on which type were in the scenario in question.

RE: Attacking A British Convoy II
With a bit of luck, the Tirpitz could sink the two heavy cruisers while the 4 destroyers provide some cover.
With all those escorts there would be so many torpedoes in the water that the Tirpitz would be hit multiple times. Stay at home. Too many escorting warships!
That is the main concern, but what is the range of the torpedoes? Has the Tirpitz any speed disadvantage over the escorts?
The escorting destroyers would probably not want to get too far away from the convoy. So they would not attack unless Tirpitz pressed the attack. If Tirpitz kept firing at long range the escorts would have to try and stop her. I would say in calm seas the destroyers could get inside of torpedo range if they did not get hit first. Tirpitz would not have the speed of a pocket battleship but might get away in rough seas as the escorts would not venture far from the convoy.

RE: The balance of sportsmanship & competition among A&A players
NEVER reroll the dice. The dice represent your field commanders and the fog of war. The player is the commander in chief and orders movement and combat. But if your field commanders screw up then you just have to move on. On the other hand I have told my opponent many times “are you sure you want to do that” when he declares a battle that appears to be poorly thought out. I would do that rather than let a good game be ruined by a poor move. The global games are very long and one hates to see a game end by poor play and its too late to setup and restart a new game. Now I am speaking of friendly games with your buddies. If its a tournament of some kind than that is another story.

RE: Tigerman's Barbarossa Game now at HBG
Working with HBG to possibly have some general tokens to use for this game.
We need some rules for generals otherwise no need for tokens. I can always house rule somthing of course. Also army cards will be needed for this game. See photo with army card glued on one of HBGs coasters.

RE: MY HOMEMADE EASTFRONT GAME USING HBGS PIECES.
Looks like you have put a lot of time into this project. I like your painted units. Nice to see some specific Finnish units. Keep up the good work.

RE: Tigerman's Barbarossa Game now at HBG
I am making some changes to the rules and the setups, mostly rules. One is the Minors armor units will be light tanks and not medium or heavy.
OK, this means that minors will have only light tanks? What about the rules for Generals?

RE: Tigerman's Barbarossa Game now at HBG
In a number of places, I see stacks of black or blue chips with no combat unit on them or even near them. What do those represent?
Those are supplies used to activate land or air units in a zone. A supply token has to be in the same zone or adjacent to it to activate that zone. Once the units in a zone are activated they may move in the combat phase or later in the non-combat phase provided they did not move in the combat phase. Of course the supplies have to be kept moving “during non-combat” which creates an interesting logistics problem. The supplies may be moved with three types of units. Trains, trucks, and air transports. The logistics are a real nightmare until you play a few games and develop a plan for getting them to the front. I think it is fun and challenging. But if you dont have a lot of patience then it may be better to play a simpler game without supply.
In this post I mentioned playing a game without supply. Having thought it over I dont think that will work as the original game is structured to use the supply system. If the Germans did not have to spend a large portion of their income to keep supplies going to the front ( supplies, trains, trucks, and transport aircraft) then they could spend all their income on combat units. With the large number of units in the German setup, then the game would be terribly unbalanced.
