Here are some Stuarts I pieces together to form a troop complete with commander. In the background the Company Commander follows in his Humber IV w/ a 37mm gun.

RE: My latest Panther
@Der:
15mm - sheez - you must be using jewelers tools! Very cool results.
I used an 20x brush to paint the camo and a magnifier to see what I was doing. :-D Its all worth it though when you drop them on the table for a match.

RE: My latest Panther
Its a 15mm Plastic Soldier Company Model. They are nice kits with lots of detail and very affordable.

RE: Official update on AAM
@Deaths:
I bet alot of Mini’s, AAM’s and WaS will disapperar along with rich baker. This is my greatest fear
Its becoming more and more a possibility every day that passes. Our group is buying 15mm minis and creating cards and supplementing our collections that way.

RE: Discussion for new forum policies
At one point we had a forum at our LGS and a nasty troll arrived who had serious social problems and at least one mental disorder. He baited, flamed and generally tried to cause chaos on the forums. He had puppet accounts and etc. Eventually I got tired of editing his posts daily so I decided to start replacing his flames with compliments to moderators and the members he was flaming. He would write that someone was a fool and I would replace it with great phrase for that member and apologies for his own rudeness. I also disabled his edit abilities so when I edited a post it could never be deleted or changed. Within 10 days he gave up and moved on. It worked like a charm. :wink: Hint-Hint
Regarding customers: “A customer may not always be right, but the customer is still the customer.”

We should add a anti-spam question…...
We should add a anti-spam question to registration temporarily while Dave is writing the new software. We are being held hostage by internet goons and thats not right! Either we get spammed to death or we loose stuff on the forum. Ay least with a anti-spam question we can return to our ordinary BB codes and the like and get on to more important discussion. What can it hurt? If we are worried about potential members not being able to figure out the question then just use “What is 2 + 2?” for a question.

RE: Who is having problems with BBCodes?
If I upgrade, it will break everything. The next upgrade will be a migration to new forum software, which I will be writing myself because the current state of the forum-world is horrendous. If we don’t evolve, everybody will migrate to Quora and StackExchange.
I’m not too familiar with the SMF system but you should be able to upgrade without breaking links. With phpBB you upgrade the forum not the data. the data is in a separate dbase and is a slave to the forum software. In the beginning at the Underground we were spammed to death so I added a simple security question to the registration process and we haven’t had even one spammer in a year. The question is simple but bots don’t know the answer. “What war does the game cover?” Any doh-head knows the answer, but bots don’t. I honestly have few issues with the phpBB software.

RE: Who is having problems with BBCodes?
Actually every link to every photo ever posted on the site has been broken. This is not good!
@Dave - How often do you back-up the forum? Perhaps that section could be reloaded. We are also using an older version 1.1 rather that the newer 2.0.2 version.

RE: Who is having problems with BBCodes?
I went back into this post (http://www.axisandallies.org/forums/index.php?topic=27484.msg968293#msg968293) and resubmitted it but the pic’s did not return. Without the pics its kind of lost its appeal.

RE: Discussion for new forum policies
On the topic of moderators, I would suggest two levels of moderators.
1. Forum guides, who assist members, direct queries and start discussions but have no edit buttons. There would be at least 1-2 per section and could possibly be elected. I’m a little apprehensive about the election thing as it might turn out like the Karma debuckle from earlier in the week.
2. The second level would report directly to Dave be less plentiful and have powers to edit and quarantine inappropriate posts. These members would be clear on Dave’s vision and be able to act with certainty. These members would be appointed by Dave.

Official update on AAM
WotC has announced that due to A20 development there will be no new AAM set this year. They didn’t state that there were any cancellations of mini’s line which is good news.

There should be a word filter or something. We should not be requiring admins to go in and edit user’s posts to remove bad words or turn them into stars (****)
If people go to lengths to get around the word filter, like with creative swear words, etc, then the posts can just be “deleted” (ie: replaced by the generic block of text saying that this post was deleted because….)[/quote]
No, just replace the swear words with those annoying and people are sure to stop swearing. -

I think there are too many A&A related websites and forums. We need to combine them all into A&A.org
This sounds wise.
It won’t work. Every forum has its own flavor and identity. Each forum can potentially create many different kinds of content on their own platforms. If you put them all together you will loose the overall creativity. Forum owners loose control of their own vision and it becomes watered down. If we come here we cannot have signatures, if you go to the Underground we are a support forum and WotC Bashing isn’t allowed, if we go to the Forumini you play by their rules and so on.
A&A.org needs to reinvent itself and its going to take some thinking outside the box to get us there.
No WOTC bashing there? Is that what you want here? If not, then we’re on the same page. If so, you don’t think it’s fair to criticize a company for creating so many board mistakes when asking for my money? All the WOTC bashers are still buying its products. I wasn’t sure the inference of that comment. Just wanted to give you the opportunity to clarify.
No there is no WotC bashing on the Underground, we don’t whine about stuff, we fix it! No, I don’t want to merge forums. My point was you can’t consolidate all the forums together successfully without splintering the groups and you just verified it by your statement. Frankly if A&A.org is struggling why should successful venues move here? So lets forget consolidating forums together and find another more creative homegrown solution.

RE: Some projects I have been working on.
@FM7:
Very cool. How do you paint the emblems such as the German cross or Canadian Maple Leaf? I have tried using a tooth pick. After painting a dozen, which didn’t look as sharp as yours, my eyes always hurt from focusing so tiny.
Water slide decals from Battlefront (FoW). They add a nice touch. I wish I could find the yellow bridge crossing weight discs.

More Canadian repaints
Here is a few pics of some repaints of two Stuart tanks and a M10. This is the first time Ive posted these pics anywhere.
