I know the topic is old, but I wondered how many troops a infantery unit consists of.
500.000?
250.000?
I always thought it would be just a division:
10.000-30.000
or maybe a corps?
40.000-80.000
Did the creator ever mention numbers?

I think each round is supposed to be 3 months.
That is exactly how we play it :)
@SS-GEN said in [Anniversary] Italy changes sides:
Ok. 10 icps. Wow. Won’t work in my game unless I come up with a different amount.
So July of 43 wouldn’t this rule not go in affect until like turn 3-6 based on year you start game ?
Whatever works for you is fine :) I just wanted to show a possibility. If you need to change it for your needs go ahead.
The moment when Italy changes sides is an interesting thing. What if Mussolini was already imprisoned in autumn 1941?
This rule in our games is applied from the very first round. But if you want to play the effect in a later time of the game then just do it. It is your decision. :)
@SS-GEN
10IPCs
Italy 6 IPCs
Balkans 3 IPCs
Lybia 1 IPC
@AtePineapple Right “Kill Germany first” (KGF) seems to be the the option at hand. But wouldn’t that be more realistic?
Edit: sorry help me out please - NO means what exactly?
Oh … National Objectives. Yes we do!
Strait of Turkey: actually, we play it closed, but neutral states can be attacked so …
We also have rules to put diplomatic pressure on neutral states - but that is a topic for another day :)
World War 2 has seen many upgrades and a rapid development in tank technology. The british Comet, the US Pershing, the german Panzer VI.
To play this we have a heavy tank technology which can be made available after autumn 1942.
Tanks attack on a 4 instead of a 3 which makes them more dangerous on the battlefield.
I hope you enjoy our house rule and a lot of fun while testing.
@Reth Trifft sich ja hervorragend :D But since this is an English speaking forum we will continue in English okay? (At least as good as we can) Just send me a pm and I will send you everything we have got so far. But YOU have to decide which rule you want to implement and which not. Worth trying and fun are all of them :)
Liebe Grüße aus der Steiermark
@Reth As you might have noticed I am not a native speaker. Our rules exist only in German. The rules for Italy changing sides (Aniversary Version) we have already posted. Others will follow soon. :)
@Reth
First of all in “your” game you can do whatever “you” and your friends want. I don’t see there any problem. If it has to be “balanced” you either play the original rules (which should be balanced) or playtest your optional rules thoroughly.
In our gaming club we have a lot of house rules. AAA used against tanks. The development of nuclear bombs, PTboats, Tiger Tanks, Atlantic Wall, attack on neutral states and other stuff like what if Pearl Harbor never happened or Operation Barbarossa etc.
For us it works - for you it may not. Do whatever you like :)
@Reth What is exactly your question? Of course you can invest IPCs in technological bereakthroughs. Just read the rule book :)
@koba Good evening
we have rules for weather like that: every round is approximately 3 months. In summer months there is the raining season in South America, Africa and Asia and in Winter severe temperatures in North America, Europe and Sovietunion.
Tanks can not “blitz” during these rounds of play.
@vodot said in [AA50 & AA42.2] Fixed Cost Techs + Tech Expansion:
This is a work in progress, but I’m putting it out here for ideas and feedback if anyone is interested in geeking out on something like this.
This is an expanded list of techs with fixed costs (no more die rolls) that would simply come into effect immediately (unless otherwise specified) for the cost shown. Some of these have a cost of 5 IPCs, with the intention of simply enabling what are essentially house rules/new units (Mechanized Infantry, Cheaper Naval units, rudimentary dogfight rules, etc.) while allowing players with no interest/need for them to ‘opt out’ and save the 5 IPCs. I’ll be using this list for my next solo game and will be making adjustments.
Note: The ‘Turkish Pact’ tech is designed for games where the Turkish Straits begin the game closed (via house rule), but also works for games where the straits start open as per OOB rules (in which case, upon the development of ‘Turkish Pact’ they would cease to be a special case of “Always Open” straits and revert to the normal OOB straits rules (closed to units unfriendly to the controller of Turkey).
SIR, THIS IS PURE GOLD! :)
This topic is very interesting. Mainly because the German “Wehrmacht” hat great difficulties with fuel shortages.
I would say, as long as you are not in control of at least one oil field your tanks can not “blitz” and aircraft can only fly defensive missions (or there should be a restriction how many spaces they can fly - for instance -1 for bombers and fighters)
There should be a rule which allows you to make a strategic bombardement of the oil fields.
That is a very interesting idea. I would like to hear more of it :)
Hey everybody, greetings from Austria :)
We have a special house rule I would like to share with you.
In July 1943 Mussolini’s regency was overthrown and Italy changed to the side of Allies.
We always wanted to play this significant event in our games and here is how we do it:
As long as Italy keeps its 10 IPCs morale is okay. Is it higher it is even better. But if at the end of the player’s turn the IPCs are below 10 you have to pass a morale test.
9 IPCs - at a dice roll of 6 partisans take “il duce” as prisoner and Italy changes sides.
At 8 IPCs at a dice roll of 5.
At 7 IPCs at a dice roll of 4 a.s.o.
If Italy itself falls into the hand of the Allies, Italy changes automatically sides and if you like it or not has to fight the remaining Axis powers.
This shows how Italy is an unreliable partner and “Third Reich”-player really has to take care of his brother in arms.
I hope you enjoy this house rule and can spice up your games a little bit :)
Greetings,
