Convoy question
Can a warship and sub attack on the same turn it intends to convoy?

RE: Anybody making large map for Pacific 1940?
@Imperious:
Then hire Midgets to move the pieces for you. You just sit in your chair and tell them what to do. Problem solved.

Idea for naval strategy
Never mind. Don’t bother reading ied this yet so I would like to spare the “well you must have versed lousy players for that work comments”. This could work for either japan or the us but probably better for the us. This strategy would work best when your fleet is parked at a naval base and airfield island. You move your fleet to the sea zone and your consists of 3 or 4 submarines a number of carriers and a number of destroyers ( numbers not really important as long as your navy is a pretty comperable to enemy navy). You land all of your aircraft on the island and take advantage of the airfield. Then you position a submarine between your fleet and the enemys fleet to block a destroyer. Imy is at a navy base position two submarines one in each seazone the enemy needs to move through to attack your fleet. Now if the enemy attacks your fleet he won’t be able to bring his destroyers with him to defend against surprise strikes. That gives you 6 or 8 rolls at a one for defense for every round of combat. ( surprise strike and main strike). That will quickly kill most of his surface fleet. Then if he plans on an invasion don’t scramble the fighters and use them for defense (make this known as soon as he says he will amphib assualt). He will then need his fighters for the land combat. That will force him to bring his carriers into your seazone on his noncombat move if he came from a naval base. Save the subs by submerging them if it looks like you are going to lose the sea battle (which I really don’t sea happening). Then because of your two subs that will block him from moving a destroyer into your seazone (in most cases) you can use the subs to kill any thing left on your turn. But if his carriers survive in on of the adjacent seazone with planes(he didn’t attack the island) you send in your subs and planes and either kill all of his aircraft and kill the carrier (a little luck needed) or you damage the carrier and destroy all of the planes since They would have no where to land. Then if the us is using this strat have Anzac finish the carriers off.

RE: Combined game
They may not be as stupid as you guys think. They should realize that they can save money by releasing the game with ample pieces for all the countries and hiring a new spell checker and double checker of game components. That is all speculation of course and I could be entirely wrong then in august or whenever Europe comes out we are back at the emails complaining.

RE: New US strat thats tough to beat
It sounds to me like you are missing things in your strategy to allow him to do it.

RE: 4 players?
I have played with four players and i cannot complain about the gameplay. The fourth person was china and anzac since they are the smallest powers. Othere wise the game expiernce was great. The alllies where a little bored until japan attacked, but once japan attacked it took all of the allies working very well together for an eventual allied victory. In a nutshell don’t knock it till you try it.

RE: J1 attack very tough on allies
I completely agree with Joe.

RE: Do you want canada as a power
I must admit Canuck you do make a good arguement for Canada. With your arguement about paralleling Canada and Italy makes me a liitle undecided. I feel a little stronger about keeping them completly british just to keep the british stronger.

RE: Our favorite game quotes
My friend was Axis and myself the Allies. I had just taken Germany with Uk and USA while he was trying to invade russia. oh I should mention he was playing the game and watching TV at the same time. he started building up japan with transports armed with tanks infantry and artillery, 6 loaded transports sitting in
on the coast line of japan. so i put a battleship in 55. on his next turn he moved all 6 loaded transports to zone 57 with out any navel escorts. of course on my turn i moved the battleship into zone 57 with his transports baaaam all gone he looked up at me and said ( where the heck did that come from ? how the heck can Axis win when the allies have cloaking and stealth abbilites ? LOL )
I think he will NOT be watching TV while playing next time, what do you think ? ? ? LOLLol

RE: American split income?
All I can say is that a good us player will be the most active player in the game. He will need to get up and walk from one side of the board to the
other every turn to play because the board will be so huge. -
Combat move. Pre DoW question
Can a jap transport move through an allied controlled seazone?
While i’m on the subject of questions can us planes land in either Anzac or uk territories before the dow. -
RE: New National Production Chart
i like the extra slots at the bottom for keeping track of bonuses

Air unit carrier landing clarification
I am currently in the middle of a game and we have run into a little discrepency. The UK fleet is parked in seazone 4 (the one next to germany) and the german player has just built a carrier on his turn. He did this thinking he could land air units on it. I feel as though he can’t land that planes because they move on the noncombat movement and the carrier is built in the purchase units. Since they move on the noncombat move phase they cannot enter and land in a hostile sea zone. My opponet disagress saying this is no different than any other time a carrier is built and planes move to that seazone to land on it (in same turn.)

RE: Compartments for Pacific storage boxes

RE: Question: Number of Players in AAE/AAP40 World Game
i agree it will be a stock 6 player game, but it could have many more players
Germany
Italy
japan
western US player
Eastern US player
ANZAC
Eastern UK player
Western UK player (the way i see it the UK needs to be activly operating in the pacific for any chance on an allied victory)
China
Frace
USSRSo there could be (COULD) 11 players. I must admit that two US players would be a nice convience with how big the board is going to be.

RE: Worst A&A game?
I have aa50 and have played pac40. I still like dday and learned how to play on dday. Dday is a great beginners game and is still a good game to play everynow and again.
