      My parents bought their present house 20 years ago.
      They bought it as White Cottage, only to discover it was built as White House!
      They prefer Cottage and have not amended it.
      I would like to  think the days of Welsh incursions over the English  border are long gone and their property safe from being burnt down as reprisals for past deeds.

      The Janus

      I made a 1941 limited scenario for Classic; basically divides the map into 3 parts you can play separately, and runs fairly quickly. I can try and give you a quick rundown, or dig up & post the full rules if you’re interested.

      My ANZAC infantry don’t fit on the chips correctly.
      They are also like 7’ 6" supermen.
      Compared to the Chinese Infantry (who’s sculpt was ported directly from anniversary edition) they are gargantuan.

      1. Atomic bombs (Loaded on bombers)
      3. Fission Bomb

      In what way is an atomic bomb different from a fission bomb in your rules?  The two terms mean the same thing.

      Here:

      @empireman:

      SuperPowers
      2-8 players

      Fission Bomb - roll 4 dice. The sum total of the rolls is the damage inflicted.

      Atomic is 1 less

      What are your thoughts if the Cold war went to WW3

      that it would not be a possibility…it would be rather a szenario were more likely many Nations will fight against each other and not only two superpowers playing a hidden game of chess…Many peoples think the world ist at peace and the circumstance, that the ongoing events do not occur in their terretory make ´em belief that it is not a major problem equal to a war, but the fight is allready on. it´s simillar to the time of 1914, all it needs is a spark in the right spot!..look arround, there is so much hate … keep the LOVE

      @Gargantua:

      I agree with LB.

      Infantry spam would be the way to go.

      I used to be able to buy 6 inf, OR a battleship.  now I can buy 16 inf…  Same for tanks as LB mentioned… 4 inf to 1 tank, instead of 2.

      This was enough of a probably in classic, that some people said “Infantry breaks the game”.

      The other concept you could try… divide all current costs by 1/2, and make it mandatory to buy 2 infantry for $3.  You could also pick an arbitrary number for tac’s.  (honestly they should cost the same as fighters, they are no better or worse).  Make transports cost 4.

      Theoretically, the dice effect on the game would diminish, because you’d have so many units on the board… but then managing units, or the “potential” of units - like when trying to calculate if you can defend your capital, become burdensome.

      Yeah I know how much inf they will be, Russia buys 36 Infantry every turn.

      @Variable:

      I may try this for AA41.

      Yeah, this would be great for aa41, cause the units will be so little, like germany attacking with 7 Infantry, 3 tanks, 2 fighters.

      @frimmel:

      Well in a game where they tout the persistence and encourage the leveling of your units to just destroy some of them at the end of every game/round/battle is a bit cheesy.

      Well, I just like rolling my tanks over the enemy in victory.  🙂

      I’d like to personally thank everyone who made this happen! Making this new forum is a great idea. It will help everyone collect all of the info and ideas in one place, and keep the clutter down in Variants. I know I at least need to thank DJensen and FMG. Thanks guys.

      Not a problem…  a pleasure.  I have to admit my 1939 Map has a place of honor in my WAR ROOM.  My fav by far!

      Variable

      Sorry guys,

      I think I misunderstood the question. I meant that G40 had enough different unit types to cover the units in the game. But you are correct Empireman, pieces would need to be painted to have enough colors. Or, you could buy some other colored pieces. Playable powers are France, UK, Russia, Italy, Serbia, Germany, Austria-Hungary, Ottomans, Japan, USA, China, ANZAC. Serbia and China have no Air or Naval ability.

      Cow

      So I take it you suggest keeping manch kaput and move korea into manch and keep kaput.

      guess you doing J3 declare war. but then your transported will get blocked so you can only nab malaya borneo and pinoy. (I guess you can hover over a spot with the transport that starts from japan over sumatra).

      but if you leave them there on J1 russia moves west and enters through the backdoor of china, he’ll get to kansu before you.

      @Gargantua:

      Are you on DRUGS?

      Uhm, I won’t answer any questions without my lawyer present.   😉

      I regard most television documentaries as highly entertaining, but at least sometimes containing information of dubious reliability.  They are there to entertain and inform, and sometimes propagandize, not simply inform.

      It is in stacks of dry dusty books that one finds interesting facts, and hot lonely librarians.   :evil:  The internet also does decently as a search tool, although you often have to have a good idea of what you are looking for.  (For example, you won’t typically find mention of “The Protocols of Zion” in any discussion of the Holocaust, which is, well, really bad.)

      My understanding of the history of the StG 44 is that production of the gun itself was generally approved of by Hitler.

      The MKb 42, FG 42, and MP43 were the predecessors.  I think the referred to “stoppage of the StG 44 by Hitler” (to paraphrase an earlier post) referred to the real infighting in Germany over the design and production of these various predecessor guns.  To sum up, there were various plans for various assault rifles / machine guns, but there was a lot of bureaucratic infighting.  Rather than allowing them to continue arguing to no positive end, Hitler at various points told them to shut up and shut down.

      So naturally there was some delay in StG 44 production, but saying Hitler made a stupid decision, or that he completely lacked vision, is like yelling at your cat after you burn your toast.  It’s not the cat’s fault, even if it was in the room at the time.
