RE: What is the best strategy for Axis and Allies Global 1940? plz help
Dont waste infantry screening the Germans main line of advance, its fine to have German stack > empty territory > Russian stack.
Buy mostly infantry, spend 12 a turn on something else, 3 art or mech or 2 tanks.
If Germany hits you on turn 2 or 3 (i.e. no Barbarosa) then make sure you can get yourself back to Moscw.

RE: Best ratrio for cannonfodder compared to big guns
It depends on if I am using tanks or artillery. Each artillery requires an infantry to make maximum use of the offensive power of the arillery, so for if it artillery i would have a 3 or maybe 4 to 1 ratio, if its tanks 2.5 to 3 to 1

RE: Which of these 3 strategies is best?
Italy
Its the smallest and easiest, also if it starts doing well it can increase the axis income by large amounts.
But really you have to play to keep the Japanese and the Germans from winning more then killing any one power.
-
RE: Whats your favourite SURPRISE move?
My favorite suprise move is landing my airforce in an allies territory and then having them build an airbase. Similar thing can be done with a naval base.

RE: Japan
China is easily doable by Japan, and the Mongolians are pretty close to irrelevent. If Japans strategy involves attacking Russia then enough power will be applied so that the Mongols don’t make any difference. If Japans strategy involves avoiding Russia then the Nongols do protect Russia a little bit but when the 18 inf are well on their way to Moscow Japan can attack and only have 3 infnatry to deal with, the 3 inf in the back side are close enough to Moscow that they will probably head straight there and are 2 or 3 turns away from causing Japan trouble anyway.

RE: Classic Strategies Die Hard
The last game I played I was the allies, and Germany didnt even pretend. He built 10 infantry on G1, and Japan attacked in the east. After that it was a simple march to Moscow. Right now I don’t see a way for the allies to stop it. Once Russia falls its pretty much over, the Germans can easily muster forces to hold Europe and send their stack of armor to Cairo.

RE: Is it possible to win as the allies after sealion?
I think its only possible if you are able to destroy the german fleet afterwards. Without that fleet the Russians can take finland and norway and will have a reasonably secore northern flank. If that fleet is still there the Germans can drop in 20 to 26 units in lenningrad and the Russians will be on the defensive.

RE: How likely should Sealion be?
I am fine with the boost. I am fine with Germany being able to take UK on T4 at a 75% or higher chance with 11 transports, but the poll was asking about a T3 take of UK with UK being able to build all defense and send all defensive units back. This is also why I stated the 5%. I think in the real war it wouldn’t have been till 43 or later before Germany would really be ready for a Sea Lion with a great chance of success. The real problem was UK had 16 battleships! and 5 AC’s and hundreds of destroyers and smaller craft, AS WELL AS the same air power strength. Sorry I shouldn’t talk about actual history in these polls or feelings on global 1940. I feel the same way you do that the axis need a boost to make the game more fun. In all honesty I hope the game becomes after everything is done a 48/52 with allies being 52% favor. This is because the allies are substantially harder to play than the Axis, and I think it should take a really good allied strategy to win. Just my two sense…
You undersell the UK naval strength, they started the war with 15 battleships and 5 KG-V class battleships under construction, also 7 carriers and 5 more building (although they carried swordfish instead of real aircraft, they were good enough to score some significant victories such as Toranto and damaging Bismark), as well as lots of cruisers and destroyers (As many as anyone else in the world). Also they started the war with almost as many submarines as Germany. (65 german vs 53 UK - and the UK gets no subs while Germany gets 5 )

RE: Repairing damaged ships - NEEDS TO BE ADDED TO ALPHA!
I think BBs are underpowered and you want to nerf them? hmmm… no
I agree with this statement.

RE: Alpha+ 3: Amur rule - questions, agreements and strategies
I think its kinda weird, If Japan attacks Amur from the sea there is no activation - as long as any aircraft can fly out to sea and come in from the ocean (they can all land in Manchuria though).
And then during non combat moves Manchurian and Korean units can flood across the boarder.
Honestly I think they should have just added more units to Russia and left Mongolia neutral.

RE: Alpha 4 is due next month
@Cmdr:
Removing the NO from England was probably an unnecessary factor in having people consider Russia before England.
It was necessary because he removed the British NO for no German Subs in the Atlantic.
-
RE: Alpha +3 = UK1 Factory in EGY breaks the game?
well its pretty simple
2/6 (1/3) of time the sub sinks the cruiser
3/6 of the 4/6 the cruiser sinks the sub (multiplies out to 12/36 which reuces to 1/3)
so basicly each round you have 1/3 sub sinks cruiser 1/3 cruiser sinks sub and 1/3 roll again.I hate 50/50 battles, somehow i lose them 75% of the time!

RE: Alpha 3 is out
@Young:
Did anyone else notice that Germany loses a Tac bomber in Western Germany? As if it wasn’t already hard enough sinking the Royal Navy, now I’m down a plane.
I hope were not back to classic where Germanys only realistic option is to fight Russia.
Sorry but yes thats where Alpha+3 is at

RE: Post Sea Lion Ideas
Alpha+3 is out, AA guns now take a hit in combat (and UK has 4 of them) also russia can declare war as soon as London falls. So unless you get a stupid UK player that lets you get in a cheap G2 sealion, taking London is basicly outlawed.

RE: Canadian and Finish Troops
Actually Canada doesnt need its own NO, simply allow the UK player to apply its NO money to either London or Canada.
