It’s one of those situations where he won the game by doing it, so I think it’s obviously the right move to make. Losing with honor is still losing. Even groups that pride themselves on honor, like Japan, really had none during wartime. They treated POWs like garbage and raped 1000s of civilians in China.

RE: Battles we are winning or losing. Assesment and discussion.
North Africa is no laughing matter! The Reserves are a good set to collect too. They are good at filling out the armies. They have some cool units that on their own need support, but overall make for a stronger force. There are still some good core pieces, like the PzKpfw 38(t), Panther Ausf. D, Rangers, M22 “Locust”, Intrepid Hero, and the newly costed IS-3 (now costs 71). The Panther Ausf. D is just so awesome for what you pay. Here’s the card:
Also!!! The coolest platoon I’ve found so far, it’s not in the expanded rules, but in a .pdf on the official site… German Panther Platoon, 95 points: 1x SS-Panther Ausf. G + 2x Panther Ausf. D… Normally, even with the price drop on the SS one, that would cost 112 points. It’s a pretty deadly combo. I really want to find 2 more Panther D’s now, so I can field 2 Panther platoons and combine them with an ammo dump for a good 200 point tank battle.
Here’s the links to the files with both the expanded rules and the second batch of formations, they are both in .pdf format once unzipped:

What do you need so bad from D-Day? Just get 1939-1945 and North Africa if you don’t have many pieces right now.

RE: Battles we are winning or losing. Assesment and discussion.
I won a fun little deathmatch as Russia against Germany. I used 2x IS-3, an Ammo Dump, and a T-34 Commander (should’ve used the assault gun platoon of 4x SU-76) against 4 Centurions. I only won because of my amazing dice and his terrible dice, but still… It was something to see.

RE: Which new minor nation do you want most?
…and you nailed it completely. One of the main reasons Germany lost WWII was preparing for a short war that ended up being a long one. Pride was their downfall.
It’s a character flaw a lot of Germans seem to possess. My German family generally all have the stubborn “my way, or the highway” philosophy….

RE: "Easy Eight" officially revised (stats and cost)!!
WHAT??? THats the best freaking news I’ve had all day. (and…that may be a bit pathetic) but who cares. So how do I get this new set card? What new set do I have to start spending hundreds on now? Not that I’m complaining Ducky. No no. I never complain. Just b*tch & moan about losing to the Russians which is what’s happening now. The Strurmpanzer IV, Brummbar, is damaged; but of course, still alive.
If you know anyone that has German armor they probably have some… don’t tell them it is going to be getting revised soon either  because they may decide to keep them. It’s the Panzer IV Ausf. G from Base Set. The new cards, unfortunately, will be in .pdf format, so you have to download the file and print it out off the official website. The ETA on release is “before the end of August”… So nothing solid yet.

RE: "Easy Eight" officially revised (stats and cost)!!
Obergruppenfuhrer, now’s the time to try and lure Panzer IV Ausf G’s (from the base set) away from people if you can… It’s getting recosted from 30 points down to 23, and gaining “sideskirts +1/+1” which gives it a +1 to defense against units using close assault.

RE: Which unit needs recosting (or stat alteration) the most?
I just learned from M2A0 over on the official forums that the SS-Panther G is officially being recosted at 42 points!
-
Which unit needs recosting (or stat alteration) the most?
I think the SS-Panther needs a revision the most. It’s 14 points more than the Panther D, and the only difference between the two is that the SS version can move while disrupted. Not worth 14 points for that, in my opinion.

there you go!! almost all the stat cards for everything!!
DUDE!!! YOU are the man. Where in blazes did you find that link? I searched the damn internet forever yesterday looking for this exact thing. Man if I could hook you up with Karma, you’d be at positive 300 by now. Thanks brotha!!
No problem, just trying to keep myself useful! I found the link a while ago just by trying to find a specific card’s values.
If you’re trying to build a specialized army you may as well buy individual units. If you have 100s of pieces already, boosters are waste of money. If you don’t have many pieces yet, I HIGHLY recommend getting a case of 1939-1945. It’s a “greatest hits” booster. The most popular pieces are in it, repainted, and some recosted. You’ll definitely find almost all the armor you’ll need there, and some decent infantry and aircraft, though those areas weren’t as well rounded as the tanks. There’s a lot of heavy hitters though. A Tiger I, King Tiger (more durable and cheaper than the Veteran Tiger, but lacks the +1 to dice rolls), a Stuka, SS-Hauptsturmführer, StuG III Ausf. D (for 15 points, this unit is great. I found it useful every time I fielded it). There’s also lots of good Russian stuff, so you could do a pretty awesome Eastern Front battle.
http://miniaturemarket.com/inc/sdetail/129768 - a safe online store, everyone I’ve talked to loves these guys (I’m ordering a couple cases of the next expansion from them myself)!! here’s the 1939-1945 booster case.
If you’re really into building up a powerful Wehrmacht like I was, you have to go with North Africa too. It’s got the Veteran Tiger in the new, large scale, it’s got a new 88mm flak (same stats, better appearance), and the best axis fighter-plane in the game, the Messerschmitt Ace (it can make defensive fire attacks on aircraft 4 hexes away!!!). I have a couple of them and it pisses one of my friends off to no end when I field them. Plus, North Africa has the Veteran Fallschirmjager. It’s pricy at 10 points for a soldier, but a couple of those guys in a battle can tip the tide (it’s really the only axis paratrooper capable of competing with the screaming eagles). It has 5/5 defense, can be placed anywhere on the map as long as it’s not next to an enemy, has 8 dice against anything in the same hex (medium tank killer), and it can move while disrupted and gets to reroll 1 attack dice each turn. The last one I’ll advertise is the Panzer IV Commander. It has the overrun ability that the Tiger I from the other set does, which is great (drive it into an enemy hex and immediately disrupt the soldier in it), but unlike the Tiger I it has “Command Ruthless” which gives any nearby units a +1 to each attack die against damaged or disrupted units. Put 2 Veteran Tigers with it, and you would get +1 from crack shot, and +1 from ruthless… thus +2 to the Veteran Tiger dice if shooting at anything damaged or disrupted (if I am wrong about this, someone please correct me). That would mean if you had an ammo dump, you could get a success on each die without that much trouble. 2-6 on the dice would automatically count as a success. It’d be deadly and cheap
http://miniaturemarket.com/inc/sdetail/198916 - there’s the best deal you’ll probably find, from a reliable store for a North Africa case
I’d also see if anyone has an ammo dump they are will to part with (unfortunately I have no extras). It lets you reroll any 1’s the first time they come up (IE: if you reroll a 1, and it lands as a 1 again, you can’t reroll the second 1). here’s an auction that seems like a sweet deal!! (I’ve used ebay a lot recently to get the half a dozen pieces I was missing)
check out the galleries on the official site on the link below, if you have any questions I have the cards for all of them (except war at sea, I never got into naval stuff)
http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=ah/aam/gallery
Lastly, here’s a few pieces I recommend that aren’t in the 2 sets I mentioned, but worth trading for or buying, or whatever:
Elite Panzer IV Ausf D (Germany) - Contested Skies (it gets +1 to each attack die)
Churchill Crocodile (UK) - Base Set (if it rolls three 6s during an attack, it kills the target instantly)
Veteran M4 Sherman “Rhino” (USA) - Set II (travels through the forest without making a movement roll, moves while disrupted, and doesn’t get a -1 to dice while disrupted)
M1 81mm Mortar (USA) - D-Day (it can shoot at anything within 16 hexes as long as anyone else in your army has a line of sight)
Grizzled Veteran (Germany) - D-Day (5/5 defense, and every 6 he rolls counts as 2 successes)
Resourceful Hero (USA) - D-Day (anything that is destroyed in his hex, he can use the attack values of… even a Veteran Tiger)
40mm Bofors L60 (UK) - Contested Skies (good, cheap AA and AI gun)
“Screaming Eagle” Paratroopers (USA) - Set II (tough-as-nails paratroopers very handy at flanking)
Elefant (Germany) - Reserves (it’s the hardest hitting unit in the whole game, and has a high intimidation factor, 20 dice at short range, but it’s only useful in larger point games usually)
Ammo Dump - Reserves (rerolling 1s during your attack can mean the difference between a kill and nothing sometimes) -

RE: What's your favorite tank or vehicle?
If one tank shoots at another, normally you match the defense to disrupt it, and if you pass the defense number it damages it too. If it didn’t have Superior Armor 2, 8 success on the dice would disrupt and damage the Veteran Tiger, but because it does, you need to roll 9 successes. If 3 different units shoot at it, it nullifies the Superior Armor 2 though. As each of those 3 only needs to score 7 successes and they all stack to become 3 hits. It’s a good edge to have. The thing that makes it devestating though is the fact it has +1 to each dice. So anything from 3-6 that comes up on the dice counts as a success. If you use an Ammo Dump with it (which allows you to reroll 1s) you can kill an enemy tank in a single short or medium range attack.

RE: What's your favorite tank or vehicle?
I try and field 2 at a time when I can. Pretty bad-ass tank huh?!

RE: Stuka performance
I think with the volume they had to work with, WotC did a decent job making the units in this game accurate. I just hope the areas, like the Stuka, where they slipped up get fixed. I just hope they do the heavy artillery right in the next expansion.

RE: Which new minor nation do you want most?
To get into a lot of the decent non-standard military positions you had to do some pretty unsavory things… I think if they’d laid off the mass-murder when they got into power, and just gone with the Madagascar plan, public opinion wouldn’t have been so bad. That plan is not as awful as what North America did to the natives, so they couldn’t have said anything that wouldn’t be hypocritical. It’s not ethical, but I’d rather get moved than killed if it were up to me. I think their main problem was trying to do too much too quickly.
It’s always easy in hindsight to judge things, but I think these cost Germany the war:
-Siding with Japan over China: They did it for anti-communist reasons, but they chose an ally with no natural resources who was fighting someone they’d rather be allied with in the first place (Britain). If Germany had pledged prior the outbreak of WWII to defend British colonies overseas against possible Japanese aggression, they wouldn’t have said no.
-Letting the troops at Dunkirk escape: Hitler was hoping to make an ally out of the UK still and didn’t want to piss them off, but I think the time had passed for that. The escape just strengthened their resolve more than broke it.
-The Russian Winter: It’s like playing Russian roullette with a semi-auto 9mm… everyone loses, every time! Hitler needed to finish off the UK before opening a second front. Nothing about a 2-front war seems good. -
RE: Which new minor nation do you want most?
A lot of my family in the UK thought they should’ve been fighting the communists and the French, not the Germans, in WWII. The real irony as well is that I had German family in Canada fighting against the Germans as well… then there’s the infamous “Paraguay contingent” of them too…
I could symathise. I hate communism. You could even go so far as to say I’m a Nazi sympathiszer in the sense that I wanted them to win on the Eastern front. Stalins war crimes outnumber Hitlers by the millions. Don’t get me wrong though, I don’t condone racism or the holocaust or any other violations of the Geneva Convention. That’s why I dislike the Japanese Empire of that era with a passion as well. They were atrocious murderers; hence “The Bataan Death March” Our troops were promised that if they surrendered, they would be treated as “Guests of the Emperor.” That alone was a great tragedy. I loath commanding officers who don’t honor their word.
I had a great uncle that was captured in Burma and came home covered in scars from the Japanese. My UK family are generally pretty tolerant, but my mother’s generation and back all hated Japan and wanted it sunk into the ocean. I agree fully, Stalin’s hate was arbitrary, and he didn’t care who lived or died. At least Hitler had a method to his madness so you could gauge whether or not you were at risk of getting offed lol

RE: Stuka performance
Sorry for the rant guys, being a history buff, I can’t even watch movies with major historical flaws in them.
Totally! Even just nonsensical things like in National Treasure when that old frozen boat full of 200-300 year-old gunpower blows up so massively. The gunpowder was super old, and the barrels were full of frost. Either one of those things would nullify an explosion. Same with when cops hold their guns pointing straight up with their elbows bent… FAKE
