First of it sounds like you really need to buy more infantry. If Russia is building 4 tanks a turn and Germany builds 8, then surely Russia takes a beating, but if Russia is building mainly infantry instead, then they have a much better defense, and soon they will bleed Germany dry of infantry. This means Germany soon loses tanks for inf, which is a good deal for Russia, or they start building inf on their own, to get the cheaper casualties.
USA should be happy to build inf and tanks to cleat out Alaska, if they get the chance to destroy Japanese planes.
In general Russia needs lots of inf to hold the line against Germany, US and UK must build transports and start sending troops to pressure Germany and relief Russia.
The problems the allies experience in the first games you play is usually lack of coordination. You need an overall idea of you want to play the game, and you must plan ahead and know where each nation’s units is going to be next round.

RE: Overbuilding Transports with UK
I think 6 transport is optimal, because 12 units hitting Western og Berlin is a serious threat and it also tend to discourage an attack from german airforce.

RE: Siberian Units
like what? sending in tons of figs? Seems like a waste to me, if the allies are spending their ipc on figs that are going to defend Sinkiang.

Attacking the Med fleet
When and how do you usually take out the German Med fleet? I would asume that you use US, but how many resources do you use?

RE: UK 1st turn Pacific/Indian moves
@ncscswitch:
The thing is, you can pretty much take out the US with a lesser landing than that…
Japan lands in Alaska and WCan from SZ63
Japan lands in Mexico from Hawaii
Germany lands in Panama, Cuba, and ECan.
USA (the 48 states) has not been TOUCHED , but they are effectiely out of it, at least for many, many turns (unless the UK can get the German ships, or Russia can kick Japan out of Asia in the same turn)How are you going to pull of a landing like that? Germany shouldn’t have a chance of landing t three different territories

RE: UK 1st turn Pacific/Indian moves
Does anyone use the fgt and transport to hit africa and take it back instead of messing with Japan?
Yeah I usually do, and I often bring the bomber to, because retaking Egypt is way more important than just annoying Japan.

RE: Alternative allied strategy
I would like to thank everbody for their input on this topic. I think I am gonna give a try in my next game.

Alternative allied strategy
Okay I haven’t really had time to testplay this, but what do you think of a strategy where both UK and USA offloads in algeira every turn. Then march the troops through africa and middle east, then can choose to attack either Germany or Japan. The strategy has been seen with the USA only, with great effect, so I wondered if it worked even better if Uk joined, or is the progress to slow?
-
RE: How do you typically play the Americans?
@ncscswitch:
KGF. Shuck via WUS builds.
Invest Algeria strong to control Africa and threaten Southern.
Keep the option of a Pacific Raiding Party available to keep Japan honest and reduce pressure from the east on Moscow.I agree with that, but how do you keep the option of a Pacific Raiding Party? You don’t actually leave boats on the west coast, do you?

RE: Practical Counter to Pearl II
Yes, it is cripple Japan first.
With Operation torch by UK and US T1 UK can handle Africa alone. And afterwards the US goes island hopping. Just keep tthe Indian fleet alive until they may merge with the american and japan is corneredI don’t hope this isn’t a stupid question but what is Operation torch? How does uk help best in a kjf?

Best way to use your German med fleet?
Hey guys, I can’t really figure out how to use my med fleet best. I usually use my bid on 2 units for Libya. Then should i still send my med fleet to Egypt to try a take and hold, or should I buy ekstra fleet for the baltic and then send my med fleet west and unite the fleet on G2?
How do you use your med fleet?
do you buy the carrier or transports for the baltic, if you buy any at all? -
RE: Do you take Astralia/NZ/Hawaii as Japan?
I usually take China and Bury in round 1. I like to take Aus in round 3, then on to Madagascar in round 4, UOSA in round 5 and brazil in Round 6.

RE: America
@ncscswitch:
You need the DST at Pearl to prevent the SUB from submerging. If you let the SUB live, the US has some very tempting options…
What would you use the sub for, if it was the only piece surviving the Pearl attack?
-
RE: Pearl or no Pearl???
So what do you do in J2, if you in J1 didn’t attack Pearl and the US player combines his Pac fleet in the Solomon seazone. The allies would have 1 trn (with 2 inf from hawaii) 1-2 subs, depends on if uk sub survied or not, 1 AC with 2 figters and a BB.
Next turn he could attack any jap high ipc-island. -
RE: Africa
I’m not sure I understand the point of the carrier/transport in the med. I hardly claim to have tried it many times, but I have experimented with a couple of strange naval builds there and I find them ineffective (carrier/trans, bb/trans, dd/trans). An extra transport there is essentially to shove your foot down Africa’s throat, but I remember this becoming extremely expensive; you lack pieces both against Russia and against UK naval assaults along the coast when 4 of your units are going on an expedition to the Congo every turn. I can’t get the IPCs to pay for themselves, plus all the Allies need to do is really land one bigass force on round 2 by both UK and US (4 inf/4 arm apiece, + airforce), and also throw in the transport from Australia which sneaks its way eastwards. You stretch your fronts to include Africa as well, and the payout has never worked for me.
Well I guess it could maybe work if you do the legendary Japanese airforce backup in Egypt which I keep proposing but no one comments on even to say it’s crazy
The carrier in the med also awkardly means you have an additional “territory” to defend with planes. Sometimes this puts planes out of positions to attack certain areas and/or land in the space you want them to in order to defend on land.
When I said Russia moving the bulk of it’s 12 infantry toward Japan I meant the ones east of Russia and Caucasus just for clarity.
That’s an assumption I cannot imagine happening. I almost always see 6 infantry going towards Germany (kazakh/novo/evenki) while the other 6 mess around with Japan (bury/far east/yakut).
Well I think moving the Japanese AF to Egypt IS crazy. I don’t think a few German inf with Jap fighters is enough to stop the allies.
You will probaly just lose your figters, but you may delay the allies a little.
I am a little curious, when would you send the figters down there, and how many? -
RE: Denmark, Vestjylland
Selvfølgelig Rasmus, til hver en tid. hvad med i aften?

RE: Playing online
Well sure, playing online could be interesting. But i dont know how to get started

RE: Pearl or no Pearl???
I would say that you have to attack pearl, if not the Americans is going to be a real pain to you. They can either send the fleet to the Atlantic or stay in pacific and start to threathen Japanese islands.

RE: Taking Africa…
Take Egypt turn one by loading your med transport with inf+art and attack destroyer in SZ15 with BB and amph Egypt, also bring inf and tank from Libya + bomber and Ukraine and Balkan ftrs. Then just load to inf every turn into Africa with your transport.

RE: Can Germany invade the UK first and win?
A few days ago I tried to invade Britain turn one with Germany. I got long range aircraft and send all my aircraft and the transport with one inf and one tank. I was successful, but lost all my ftrs and US just toke back in there turn, so I don’t really think its worth it.
