Personally, I don’t think it matters which rule set. Doing Sealion the way most of the people have described does not seem like the Axis will last if you have competent Allies players involved.

RE: Operation Sealion Question
How many times have you done Sealion and the Axis have won the game? Unless the Allied players are totally inept, I can’t see how they could win. I guess this is my true point.
This is just a fun poll.

Operation Sealion Question
I’ve been reading some doozies online here and just trying figure out how the Allied players even allow Germany to attempt Sealion, let alone succeed in it.

RE: Minor Threat's Alpha+3.9 (Global 1940) COMPLETE! Setup Charts
These are awesome. I printed them out on regular paper from my office color laser printer. Looked great. Laminated and ready for game play on the 26th of Feb.
Thanks a bunch.

RE: Any Massachusetts players?
Depending on where you are in MA, we have a group in Central CT that play every 3 weeks. Give me a buzz…

RE: ANZAC maneuvers in Java & Brazil
If you send both Transports (one purchased on turn 1) you can have 4 units there.

RE: ANZAC maneuvers in Java & Brazil
@Idi:
Due to Java’s special political status you can land your fighters in the same turn you activate it.
Is this in the rules? This is interesting. This goes for all the Dutch islands I take it.

Game Day Feb 26th in North Haven, CT
Hey guys and gals. If anyone is interested, we’ll be having a game day in North Haven, CT. We have 4000 sqft of empty office space to play games all day long. We will definitely have at least one game of Global 1940 going. We will have some other games as well throughout the day. Plenty of place to eat. Large clean bathrooms. Fridge to put your favorite beverage in. (Prefer no alcohol due to work location).
Contact me via email (brian@thediceturret(dot)com.
Thanks,

RE: AA50 National Advantages
So are these available yet? I would really like to get these cards done for our game day at the end of Feb.
Thanks. These look great.

RE: Next axis and allies game should be?
Historical Boardgaming already has a Stalingrad map along with Invasion of Italy and Battle for Okinawa. Check them out.

RE: Operation Sealion? Really?
Totally agreed on Russia. However, if Germany rolls into UK turn 3, I’m moving my current ships to block a return. Buying more ships on turn 3 (not a lot). Just enough to make life a more frustrating. LOL
With Russia, everything needs to be reactionary.

RE: Friendly transports acting as bridges?
Ah! I misread his post. Got it now.

RE: Operation Sealion? Really?
They can make it back providing they get rid of the Russian ships that are there and pray the Russians don’t build anymore.
The Sealion of the scale only works against Allied players who cannot think of alternatives to make life hell for Germany.
Just my 2 cents…

RE: Friendly transports acting as bridges?
I know. Nor move US troops on UK turn.
I think the original question was on the UK turn, can the troops use US transports to go accross to Normandy. The transports are not actually moving. The UK boards and disembarks on hi own turn so I believe the turn is legal. You cannot do more that 2 units like normal per turn per transport.
Clarification?

RE: Friendly transports acting as bridges?
Don’t you have to move your pieces on your turn? You cannot load an American troop on the UK turn. You have to load him on the US turn and unload on US turn.

RE: Operation Sealion? Really?
Sorry. Not going to Toronto. Would love to, but not in the cards right now.
As for playing online, no thank you. I’m a Network Admin and hate online games. I used to do it a bit when I was younger. I prefer to play face to face on any game play.
BTW, I didn’t say I would take Berlin on 4. Just saying I would get there before Germany could bring 13 TT’s back.

RE: Operation Sealion? Really?
Do the Axis know that the game doesn’t end with UK falling?
If I’m the Allies, I’m PRAYING that you use this strategy. 13+ transports going to UK is 91 IPC’s that isn’t going to Russia. The guy who said that you won’t loose that many aircraft is crazy. If you spend that many IPC’s on non combative units, you are doomed to loose in the end. If I am Russia and I see this coming, I’m mounting all my forces on the Eastern Front and will be in Berlin before you can take UK and make it back to Germany. The US will then have a 1 turn advantage as well coming into the war and putting their troops close to Western Europe.
If you play a full game to actually victory conditions, this dooms the Axis.
I would love to see this face to face and we play every 3 weeks in central CT. Give me a shout!

Global 1940 Map with Air and Naval Bases
Hey guys and gals. I don’t remember who I downloaded this map from (much thanks) but I took some time and found naval markers and airbase markers. This is setup on my site so downloads should be easy.
Just right click and save link as. You can view it in Internet Explorer. Not Firefox (don’t know why at this point).
Let me know if you have any issues.

RE: Alpha 3.5
That setup chart hasn’t been updated yet. There are ships in SZ 96. A transport and destroyer I believe.

Turkey Nuetral
A buddy of mine had an idea about Turkey (which I don’t agree with) but I’m not sure if it will work anyway.
Here is my question….
Can you cross from Greece into Turkey without using a transport? It looks like part of Turkey is on the other side of the straight next to Greece. If this is so, you can just walk into Turkey from Greece (and battle 8 angry Turks too!).
Thanks,
Doc
