The Superpowers Game has some slightly larger single stack buildings that I will be using. You can buy all the pieces for $10 from his site.

I bought just the pieces and he sent me the whole game. +1 for this guy.

If the UK is buying 2 bombers a turn, he’s not buying much of anything else. ;-) That seems pretty overkill as well since you can only be damaged up to double the IPC (20 for Germany). You can still build in Southern Europe (Italy) 6 pieces. Get control of North Africa so he can’t land his bombers there. Build in Italy. I hear they make beautiful machinery.
Hello all.
We have started up a Gaming Group in CT. We try to get together every 3 weeks to play games. We are mostly an Axis and Allies group but have been known to play more than that. Imperial, Battlestar Gallactica, etc…
Our web address is www.atthebunker.com. Come check us out. Our first BIG game day Aug 29th. Right now we are running AA50 Double Blind and AAG40. If we get a few more sign ups, we’ll run a 2nd AAG40.
Are you rolling your AA guns prior to him bombing? If so, this is a tactic the allies used. However, they should only be able to bomb you with one bomber on UK1. US1 cannot get to you. UK2 and US2 could be 3 bombers. It’s a bitch isn’t it?
Still. 82 is a BUTT TON! Or is the 30 IPC Bonus a one time deal?
I see that the US starts at 52 IPC. Then they get an additional 30 once they are at War? That’s 82. Is this correct? And if it is, sign me up for the US!!
Oops. You meant Triple A PC game maps. Never mind previous post.
Check Imperious Leaders signature. Outstanding work….
Global is going to be the way to go. No doubt. However, if time is a concern, Spring 1942 is still a great option. We play this on Monday nights. A couple of things though. GET RID OF THE BOARD! Download IL’s map and get it printed somewhere. This is a must. #2 get an extra set of money. Poker chips, old style money, whatever. Those 2 things alone make 1942 version worth playing.
@Corbeau:
AA guns should be usable to represent coastal batteries. etc…
I like this idea.
What do you think of a House Rule of something like this……
Offshore Bombardment (Cruisers on 2 and Battleships on 3) and piece is removed. AA gun maybe used as “Shore Battery” or “Anti Aircraft” in this Combat round. It cannot be used as both. If used as a Shore Battery, it hits on a 1 and a Naval Vessel of defenders choice is removed. This could be a transport fully loaded.
Just a thought…
Brian
Do any of you use a “House Rule” that states something along these lines….
“Offshore Bombardment casualties do NOT get to return fire in conduct combat phase.”
In “real life” Naval Batteries would fire from MILES off the coast. How the hell is an Infantry or tank going to reach. It should be a “Surprise Strike” in my opinion. This would also make worth while to have more naval action in the Atlantic and Pacific.
Granted this is all in case of no Naval Combat first.
Let me know what you think…
Brian
They are the medium sized ones from Litko. The small ones are too small.
I’m new to AA with anything other than the original pieces. I started doing NA’s and Double Blind and different Technical Breakthrough’s about 10 months ago.
The Russian Winter card I described if from a guy who probably frequents these forums. Don’t know his screen name though.
We have a ton of House Rules but the one I REALLY like for Russia is “Russian Winter”. I saw it here but we use it a bit differently.
Russian Winter - Once per game, in the Soviet Collect Income Phase, you can declare a severe winter. Until the start of your next turn, enemy units may not move into or out of Soviet territories.
This is a great card to pull especially if you have someone who commits to much into USSR without proper backup.

I’m doing the same for Global 40 when I get all the pieces. I’ve alrady ordered decals from I-94 Enterprises. Should be here soon. I’m just painting them a better base color for each country and then putting decals on. Maybe some window paint or something. Some people have beautiful sets but I don’t have that kind of time.
No lamination and no board for me. I printed it on Polypro plastic paper. Once dry, it’s virtually tear and water proof.
I have a 44" wide printer at work and print other stuff as well. The paper I got from a local supplier. I may try some other stuff when IL breaks out the WORLD MAP he’s working on.

The 1942 map. I haven’t printed the supreme map yet.
When we were playing there wasn’t any glare. I think it was the angle of my camera and the cheesy led flash (not really a flash) that caused the glare for photos only.
It was perfect and the small board will never be used gain.
The only downside was we had to use 2 x 6ft tables for the map. So much wider than a regular table. But it was worth it.
Thanks again,
Brian

We decided to play some Spring 1942 last night because it was quicker to play than AA50. Yea right. 6 hours later the Allies came out victorious. Here are some pics using IL’s 1942 map. SOOOOOOOOO much better than using the game board. We had several onlookers from the local hobby store. Sorry for the low res images. I forgot my camera so I used my phone. Not too bad for a camera phone.
Thanks again to IL for making such great maps.
