I got a game coming up, it will be one on one and I will be playing the Allies. I’m contemplating going full 100% Pacific with my USA economy with the exception of perhaps 1 or 2 transports and maybe a destroyer in the Atlantic just to activate Brazil and get those troops over to Africa. Question is do you think the USSR and UK can contain Germany and. Italy enough until the Pacific allies can conquer Tokyo? What key moves should be made by UK, Taranto or Tobruk? Factory in Persia? I’m pretty sure I’m going all Inf/Art with USSR but am open to suggestions as well. I’m about 99% sure Germany will not go SL, especially after a 6 Inf/1 Fighter buy UK1.

RE: Scramble G1\. Why not?
Funny you should post this. Last game I played I took about 5 minutes just pondering to myself on scrambling in 110. For all the reasons you just mentioned. Why I opted against it that game was that Germany did not make a purchase G1. Feàrful of 10+ fully loaded TT coming into London by G3 I decided against it.
The question is if you were playing as Germany and killed those fighters but lost a good part of your airforce would you still try a SeaLion if that was your intentions? Knowing London is minus those fighters.

RE: J-3 DOW on W.Allies. J-1 buy Poll
I’ve never tried it that way before. I always try to send the TTs south even if it takes an extra turn. I might look into your way next game.

RE: J-3 DOW on W.Allies. J-1 buy Poll
Why 2TTs? What troops are you going to put on them J2? Japan has 3inf 2art 1arm removed J1 leaving 3inf 3aaa.
2TTs mean you’ll be relegated to shipping AAA to the mainland or picking up some inf from the islands unless I’m missing something.
The TT in SZ 6 picks up a Inf, Arm. The transport next to Manchuria picks up a Inf and Art from Manchuria. There is a third transport two sz’s away from Japan with no NB next to it. By my count there should still be two art left to go on turn 2.

RE: J-3 DOW on W.Allies. J-1 buy Poll
Looking for opinions with explanations. Question is: Where do people generally put the factory if purchased on J1 (assume no DOW on UK/Anzac/FIC)? We have also been experimenting with a NB on the first turn in Kwangsi to facilitate the transport shuck shuck and the ability to threaten india instantly.
Shanghai for the first MiC Japan puts down. Three mechs per turn after that no matter what. Maybe even 2 mechs 1 armor on the first purchase, depending on what China is looking like and where the USA has been spending their IPCs. As far as the NB goes, it is a strong purchase and a strong placement but I tend to get a 2nd MiC on the mainland first then the NB to try and get a three headed monster of troop spawning going. Usually the 2nd is in FIC or perhaps Hong Kong if the Burma Road is being heavily guarded and dice rolls haven’t been going so well for Japan. Then with the NB you can get a good shuck-shuck system going.
On a side note I do believe that without a J1 DOW then Germany and Italy really have to be doing well on the other side to get some USA income being spent in that theatre. If USA goes full Pacific and is in strong position when it’s at war then Japan without a strong income because of no DOW might have some issues.

RE: J-3 DOW on W.Allies. J-1 buy Poll
I think everyone on these forums has, but if you haven’t then check out Young Grasshopper’s G40 Runthrough video series when he goes over the Japan J1 attack and DOW. If I choose to go a J3 then I am pretty much setting myself up to perform the same move as the J1 but on J3 minus a few changes(the UK BB and Anzac DD and TT probably be either moved or better defended) so those are usually not hit. But it’s still a MiC and two TT’s for me. Also on J2 you will need to purchase at least one more TT, if not two, making sure it’s fully loaded. The tricky thing is, is to try and grab all the money islands on J3 along with Kwangtung and the Philippines while still being able to march inward into China. If Anzac and UK Pacific have 2 Inf on each of those islands you might have to wait until J4 to get your NO for that.

RE: Leaving France for Italy
With still limited experience in Global I will post my two cents but I’m sure there are others who will post after that can give you a for sure yay or nay to this question. Personally I don’t think a German strafe on France is not a good idea. For one, as Germany you would have to make sure that your strafe is almost perfect(no inf, art left) at least. If you put too much you end up taking France anyways and with too little might leave Italy with a bit more then they can handle. If Paris survives to a F1 and can actually purchase units and fortify that capital, bad news for Axis.
Also, I think Germany needs those 19 IPCs from France more then Italy does, believe it or not. I see Italy as the little helper, if will be Germany attacking and fending off te USSR and UK and possibly the USA. If they don’t steal those IPCs, they enter G2 with with less money, perhaps the threat of throwing down a bunch of transports to make a legit threat to London is off the table and UK can build other units other then infantry and fighters for the defence of London, maybe even a factory somewhere else or something. More importantly, UK can fly fighters into Paris for extra defence as they go before Italy in the turn sequence. As an allied player seeing this happen I would immediately go to a KGF strategy no matter what my previous plans where. Again this is my opinion and maybe others have had success with it? I’ve never seen it done yet in my experience so I am a bit biased to be doubtful

China Meat Grinder?
During a recent YG video(I want to say his Q&A) he referred to China as a meat grinder before the J1 attack started to become popular. I guess I am asking him as well as everyone else, how can that be? Even if Japan keeps the Allies out of the war for 4 complete turns, they still have 21 planes plus their ground troops and transports to absolutely punish the Chinese. I’ve heard talk about certain games where China owns all their own territories and a starting to take over the coast land from Japan and I just can’t see it. I guess this maybe my way of asking for a good Chinese strategy, if their is one? The way I currently see it. Japan without the money islands or anything can still crush China with hardly a hiccup. Should I be spreading my infantry out more? As of now I kindve focus on the Burma Road and load most units into there.

RE: Global 2nd edition Q+A ( AAG40.2)
Why I asked is I played a game yesterday and my opponent kept Russia neutral until G4. On turn 3 he moved his cruiser, a destroyer, carrier and 4 loaded transports into SZ 115 and kept the land units at sea until G4 where he declared war and attacked Leningrad. First time ive seen it done in my experience. Furiously searched through the rulebook but couldn’t find anything to go against it. Unless surface war ships cannot pass through which I doubt. Figured I’d ask here just to double check.

RE: Global 2nd edition Q+A ( AAG40.2)
Assuming Germany and Russia are at peace after G1 and Russia moves their sub and cruiser from SZ 115 to 114 as a “blocker” for an eventual DOW. While still at peace, can Germany move any sea units into and past the Russian cruiser into SZ 115?

RE: BeachHead Stall
Sydney and Hawaii are indeed still in allied hands. With Anzac holding a somewhat healthy fleet on it’s own of two loaded carriers, 3 loaded transports with a cruiser 2 destroyers that’s parked right now in the Caroline’s. Tokyo is bare in the water minus 2 US subs that are convoying. But has just enough on land to deter an Anzac invasion(7 infantry, 3 art and 2 fighters). I thought about a Central America naval base allowing the US to reach Hawaii in two turns with it’s entire Atlantic fleet but am hesitant to completely abandon the European front fearing a loss on the European board while I destroy Japan.

BeachHead Stall
So I’ve been recently picking away at a game on triple a, here and there when I have time. I’m playing the allies with out of box set up, no bids against hard ai. Pulled off YG’s beachhead gameplan with the US. UK Europe is doing excellent as well controlling all of Africa as well as the Middle East and Turkey. Zero Italian ships left and have them convoyed and strat bombed to 3 ipcs. Also moving into Europe via Greece. US is ready to drop another 20 units into Spain and also hold southern France with UK fighters as extra defence.
I’m at USA-8 but Germany has built nothing but land units for 8 rounds. Paris has 20+ infantry as well as some art and tanks and western Germany just put another 10 infantry down. They also have 12 infantry and 6 art in northern Italy(German). Italy holds southern with close to 40+ defensive units. Russia is at 24 ipcs thanks to Japan from the east but wot lose Moscow soon as German /italian units are starting to dwindle on the eastern front.
I have 80 ipcs as the USA to spend and as I said am ready to ship another 20 units into spain on non-combat. Problem is Japan is 1 VC away from victory after they capture Calcutta next turn after emptying it this turn but losing all attacking land units. I don’t know if the 20 every two turns for US is enough to take Paris/W Germany now even with UK help(6 loaded transports ready from London this turn). A Spanish factory only allows 3 units as well as the southern France one so I’m hesitant on building one in Spain. With Japan inching closer to victory subs and destroyers with bombers in the pacific might not cut it now. I’m finding myself at a stall in Europe ATM until Russia can start moving in to help if Japan can be held off from the rear.
I tried to explain this in as much detail as possible. Any suggestions?

RE: Global 2nd edition Q+A ( AAG40.2)
Not sure if this has been asked/answered yet. Do air units that start on carriers in a SZ next to a controlled air base gain an extra movement point as well?

RE: My Allied strategy
I’m curious when I read this so I have to ask. You mentioned an unprovoked declaration of war on Japan UK1. Is there a particular reason for this? I always assumed letting Japan take the money islands and start to push towards Calcutta while the USA is still not at war would spell doom. Perhaps I am missing something? Is there a reason for this going into UK2 and beyond?

RE: The Spanish Beachhead: American Strategy
If the allies accept that it is in their best interest to attack the neutrals as soon as logistically possible the best thing UK can do is to stack sz 92 and forgo Taranto turn 1 with a AB purchase for Gib. The next moves involve locking down the middle east. I have a unique set of moves that I make in order to do this and if you would like I am happy to go into detail but to keep this post from being to long i will hold off on the specifics. The end result is that the UK navy is still intact and Egypt/ME is safe.
I would very much appreciate this explanation as I’m sure others would as well.
Also, another great video YG. I’m looking forward to your mentioned remake of your tutorial series with added strategy and run through’s(mentioned in channel update).

RE: Total Domination (or close to)
I’ve taken a break from posting or even playing A&A for a bit. Reason why is because of this idea right here, “Total Domination”. First off, never again. Secondly, I agree with adopting YG’s victory rules after my last experience. Let me say that when you start a board game at 8am and it’s now midnight and no one has yet to win, patience has been thrown out the window and the game is no longer fun. When you play for another two hours, everything your opponent does seems that much more annoying. Like changing one’s purchase 3 times. Finally you will reach the breaking point where anything will trigger an explosion. For instance, rolling three 1’s on a SBR defence. I don’t recommend this victory condition to anyone. 22 hours with no winner is too much. Trust me, it will ruin this game for you.
If you do decide to go against this advice, allies should let Japan run wild and go full Atlantic and stop the Germans and Italians first. Who cares how big Japan gets, as long as they don’t reach Russia capital the numbers game will be too much. And then they will flip the board. LOl

USA Strategy/Purchasing
Hello everyone. Im going to get straight to the point here. I hate playing as the USA. Reason being is I struggle with this nation, and struggle horribly. Whether I’m brought into the war before turn 4 or have to wait until turn 4, I can’t ever seem to turn the tide for the allies while playing their most powerful nation. Many factors contribute to my failures but mostly I believe it’s because of my purchasing and placement of new units. On turn one I have a purchase I will make 90% of the time. 2 carriers and a battleship and that will go Pacific. If I end up buying Atlantic I’ll drop to one carrier and add some destroyers/subs/transports depending on if I’m at war or not. From turn 2 and beyond is where my help is needed. I’ve tried going all Pacific before and allies lost on the European side. I’ve never went 100% Atlantic yet, mainly because I’ve found its easier for Japan to win the game then it is for Germany/Italy. And if I’m not 100% pacific I find myself 9/10 times trapped in a Japanese blockade because my fleet cannot match theirs. Perhaps I am not aggressive enough? As far as Atlantic side goes, sure placing myself next to Gibraltor is good positioning but if the German player has a lot of airforce remaining with fodder units on the coast, I feel I have a one strike opportunity most times that will get smashed next German turn.
Should an all out Atlantic or pacific strategy be my option? Or if not how can I counter act a strong Japanese airforce/fleet with a weaker fleet because some or half my money is being spent on the other side or the world? I’m beginning to feel that this game should be renamed “Axis Wins 1940 Global”. Please help, any suggestions or hints or tips will be greatly appreciated.

RE: National Objectives
Thank you so very much for these NO’s. I will try and incorporate them into my groups next game. I’m forever looking to expand on this edition as I feel Global is just too much game to be played besides online where if I play against AI I can save and continue on when I have other things to do. If we enjoy playing with these NO’s I will have them printed and laminated. Will go nicely with the new mega map of IL’s my group has.

National Objectives
Hey there. Was wondering if anyone has ever tried incorperating NO’s into 1942.2? If so what were they? I’ve been thinking hard about bringing NO’s into this game and was looking to copy some of Anniversary’s or something like that. If anyone has ever tried this please let me know and kindly tell me what you used
