Basically you need a 8D battlecalc to figure that stuff out, without it it’s going to take you a very long time. 8D battlecalcs don’t exist, but however I can produce one.

Have Larry Marx check out the ENIGMA FORMULA.
Subs only gets a sneak attack in the first round.
There isn’t a bench mark unit for 8D. It is a simple conversion from 6D to 8D.

Vann, aren’t you basing this “VANN 8D UNIT PROPOSAL” off my 8D system?.. aren’t they the same thing? What if people started saying that your 8D PROPOSAL superseded mine?.. should I than get as upset as you are now?.. I think you’re putting way to much emphasis on what’s yours.

This is based on the VANN FORMULAS. The cruiser, and battleship are better buys then the destroyer now. You still want to buy destroyers because of subs.
The inf&art combo hits at 25% now, not 33%. Making the tank more viable.PROPOSE COMBOS
S-Bomber&Tank. Tank is A5 now making the tank more viable.
Cruiser&Battleship. The cruiser is A6/D6, and the Battleship is A7/D7.
Mech&Inf, and Mech&Art. Inf, and Art can move two.Now for the sub verses destroyer problem.
Now this is nonsense that one destroyer can detect ten subs.
It should be one destroyer can only detect one sub.
EXAMPLE: Six subs verses five destroyers. Only five of the six subs will be detected. That one sub that is not detected will have all its special abilities. Making the subs more viable -

D6 = avg 3.5 and standard deviation (SD)= 1.87
D6+2= range 3-8 with average 5.5, but max is 8 and SD is 1.87
1D8 = average 4.5, but max is 8 and SD is 2.45
1D10 = average 5.5, but max is higher: 10, SD= 3.028
1D6+3= 4-9, avg 6.5, but max is 9, SD= 1.87
1D12 = average 6.5, but max is 12, SD= 3.6055
2D6= average 7, max is 12, SD= 6IDK how to compare this increase range with standard deviation.
And IDK how this increase in standard deviation (SD) somehow change level of SBR damage per raid.Baron Munchhausen
How in the world do you calculate range with dice, and how do you get your SB numbers, and what is a SBR???

INTERESTING THREAD.
This how I see it. Why limit yourself to one kind of dice. Why don’t you use 8D, 10D, and 12D for different units. It will give you a lot more options. I have to make a study on this, and make multiple VANN TABLES on this.
I should also buy something (I know what to buy) to program my own personal battlecalc. It can do any side dice. Two and on up. No limits on the sides.

It is a mobile industrial complex for infantry. You move next to a territory, the next turn you can produce the number of infantry that is equal to the value of the territory.
If you get one hit, it’s M3 A5 D5.
The second hit is M2 A4 D4.
The third hit is M1 A3 D3.
The forth hit, you’re sunk.You can go to any industrial complex, and repair it. It can’t repair itself, and the battlequad can’t repair ships. Since it’s so expensive you can go through the lend-lease program to get a battlequad."

Ok i understand it but I don’t get how you got your 1.61 factor for the baron formula with hits.
I was lucky on that one.
I compared on AACalc similar Attack 3 Defense 3 with 1 hit vs A3 D3 2 hits.
Knowing also that a A3 D3, 2 hits have a similar power 50-50% with A4 D4, 1 hit (was able to calculate).
When I compared these two numbers, it was around 2.60… times greater than off def factor of A3 D3 1 hit.
So, in my POV, it was close to 1+ golden number.I made an educated guess for the formula, and AACalc confirmed a few variations with A2 D2, 2 hits A3 D3, 2 hits and A4 D4 2 hits. It gave me near 50-50 each time. So it was OK.
The next step was to try AACalc with a 3 hits against Fg 1 hit, give me 50%-50% and it works.So, maybe this formula will no work for 4 hits units but I don’t see the relevance of creating such units for A&A.

Great news, we had a huge response for the VANN FORMULAS!!! So with a select few we gave them the formulas. They were sworn to secrecy to not to tell anyone that they have them. They have been winning just about every game against there friends, and their friends can’t figure out how they are doing it!!! Hence they became Grand Masters of the game.
Now you are saying when are we going to get the VANN FORMULAS ourselves, you’re not. That’s right, you’re not going to get the VANN FORMULAS.
LARRY HARRIS the creator of the A&A games will get them instead.
However we will keep bring you news, and game results on the VANN FORMULAS.

I shared some of my formulas a week ago. The VANN FORMULAS win not make you a good players. If you are not a good player, it doesn’t matter what aids you have, you will probably will lose. I talk to some of the A&A dot org members, and we will not name the formulas, and equations after ourselves. We will probably use the word ENIGMA in some form, or fashion to the formulas, and equations.

How did you get the factor 1.618034 for double haul BB??? I got a factor 1.6. I used the battlecalc I had 800 bombers attack 500 battleships.

Do you remember how you discovered it back then when there was no AACalculator or Combat calculator invented?
For that time, it was clearly a breakthrough to make some tactical decision based on a more accurate odds calculation.We had a TRS 80 computer that we program for our combat calculations.
