Don’t forget, we talk about a group of liner ship not only one…
So 2 hit it’s not a big deal….
3 moves also…
Anyway, Germany, USA, UK and Italy should only have a limit one liner ship.
So don’t know why you seem afraid of poor liner ship…

Looks like the train ran off the track.

RE: LINER SHIP
Since the liner has 0 defense, the U-boat simply has to roll until they get a “2” to sink it (or 2 “2s” if you give liners a 2 hit capability - which I still disagree with).
Well, sub attack only at 1 against liner ship if not destroy after one round of combat, liner ship can withdraw.
One other question: If we give liners a 3 movement, do they get 4 movement when leaving from a naval base?
No, 3 moves…anyway what the hell…your liner ship is going to do in naval base? :-D

Hey coach…
Have you ever think decals for smaller stuff…1/600 or 1/700?AL

RE: HBG - Axis & Allies Parts/Accessories and Custom Piece Sets Store!
Hey, more power to you man. And good for your guys that they don’t call a B-29 a B-17 or call a P-38 a P-47. I still hold that 97% of Axis & Allies players would not be able to visually identify the majority of sculpts by their actual designations. Perhaps that is beside the point.
Well, I just hope they can recognized Germany and Japan units. :-D
But it will be really interesting to see panzergrenadier kick the ass of a IJN soldier…AL

RE: HBG - Axis & Allies Parts/Accessories and Custom Piece Sets Store!
My point being that there are blurred lines here and it may be impractical to really try differentiating between land and carrier based planes in A&A. Particularly by the sculpt alone. I would say that of my regular play group, I am the only one who would have no trouble naming unit types/names/classes. While the others in my group are quite educated about the war, they are not technically knowledgeable and having to identify different fighters as land or carrier based would be an unnecessary burden on gameplay for them. I suspect this would be the case with 97% of people who would play Axis & Allies.
I must be lucky because I don’t have this problem. 90% of our group can recognize the pieces.(Including airplane)
Like some guys I repainted my naval and air force airplaneI don’t mean to shoot down ideas, but it does seem impractical from a number of standpoints. Granted, you can do as you please, and I will be differentiating naval and land based planes in my game through paint schemes. However, I doubt that I would institute a rule that a Mustang or a Jug couldn’t land on a carrier. Just simpler for everyone if I don’t go that deep. At least not at first.
Impractical? maybe for you but not for us. We play with different air plane for a decade…
I felt alone 10 years ago. HGB didn’t exist. I ordered a lot of stuff from different companies.
Now it’s easier to get what you want…AL

RE: LINER SHIP
KNP 65 and Narvik.
I agree with you but…Regarding special abilities, one factor that might be considered is that fast liners like the Queen Elizabeth and the Queen Mary, in addition to their ability to carry an awful lot of troops, were so fast that they tended to travel on their own rather than as part of convoys: their crusing speed was much higher than the speed of U-boats, so a successful torpedo shot against them was virtually impossible, and puttintg them in a convoy (even a fast convoy) would simply have slowed them down to a comparative crawl.
That’s the reason why I wrote…2 hits….
About the capabilities: yes 3 infantries. Not more than that. No armor, no special unit.
Only during non combat move.
No amphibious assault.
And yes, UK, USA, Germany can have liner ship.
No for the move, I still with 3 zones. Liner ship was fast.AL

RE: LINER SHIP
Yes it’s good for 1914 and 1939.
Can transport 3 infantry.
move 3 zones.
2 hit to destroy. -
RE: HBG - Axis & Allies Parts/Accessories and Custom Piece Sets Store!
but I always thought that Carrier based planes should not be interchangeable with Land  based ones. It is a question of skill and experience.
The Carrier ones should cost more. Maybe just 1 IPC, but something.
I agree, we have both in our house rules….Air force air plane and naval air plane are not interchangeable but same price.AL

LINER SHIP
Some of you thought about a rule for the Liner ship and others civilian boat?
During WWII, USA, UK, Germany, Italians and the japs requisitioned ships for the transport of their troops.AL.

RE: HBG - Axis & Allies Parts/Accessories and Custom Piece Sets Store!
Did any of you guys realize the US will have 8 options for fighter
Oh yeah…and not only with fighter, light bomber, artillery, truck, tank…
I think HBG might be able to make 4 differents additional set…if it’s not more.
For those who likes naval stuff…I would like to see a US Navy Blimp.
And why not… US anti airplane balloon…!!! -
RE: USSR supplement set
Wittman…
CinC product.
10 years ago,no one make real part for A&A game.
Parts from CinC was good and price cheap.
Now with HBG, you have more choice…AL

RE: Simplifying units interactions of Transports, Submarines, Destroyers & planes
YA. You’ll have to go back and change title to Multifling rules for interactions of transports, Submarines, Destroyers and Planes.
:-D….

RE: Simplified Rail: the land answer to air bases and shipyards
You can also try….
In Europe you can travel anywhere so all infantry that didn’t move during combat can move to 2 territories. (One infantry per travel). The only problem is too control the german player. It could be a free for all if the german player change is mind and move the infantry anywhere else.AL

RE: HBG - Axis & Allies Parts/Accessories and Custom Piece Sets Store!
HBG has a shapeways sight and a Me-321, Horsa, etc
I know coach…
But you should consider to make it on your own.
But I understand you make business with shapeways.AL

RE: Simplified Rail: the land answer to air bases and shipyards
Yes Z scale is better but harder to find.
I have HO scale but I never thought about track….
Good idea.
I also have a 4 x 8 gameboard and I represented the rail with a pens marker on the map.
I also used different color of marker to represented the cargo route…AL

RE: Simplifying units interactions of Transports, Submarines, Destroyers & planes
the sub can withdraw up to its full remaining movement instead of firing back.
Same as me when sub are under attack……
But before sub could retreat and back in another sea zone but I think I’ll change that.
Sub must submerge in the sea zone where he was before the combat.AL
