i have 14 Axis&Allies games worth of pieces and a huge lot of the Miniatures(lots of rare pieces). Any chance i get to add to my arsenal u better believe i stock up. I ended up buying two copies of Europe1940 and Pacific1940 before the prices went way up. (pretty happy about that)

RE: Played this for the first time last night…
another great game……one of my iraq buddies came to pittsburgh over the summer and we got a few games in. I also love playing as Germany. Sometimes i alternate between artillery rd. 1. Armor rd 2. and just push for Moscow…10 arty…8 armor…10 arty …8 armor. My stategy is to take russian territories each turn and place my 12ipc bonus at the brginning of the game down towards egypt(3 arty)

RE: Just How Old Are We Axis and Allies Players?
Started playing back in 84 when Milton Bradley came out with the Gamemaster series……Conquest of the Empire and Fortress America were in that group but we strictly just play A&A these days

RE: Does anyone know for sure how many Anniversary Editions were made?
Im just curious because heard there were so few of the Anniversary Edition made

Axis&Allies Stalingrad or Kursk?
Im a huge A&A fan and those were two of the biggest battles of the war in Europe. The battle of Kursk was the largest tank battle ever. Just throwing my two cents in. Cant wait to get my A&A WW1-1914

RE: Length of Global 1940 games
I guarantee we had games go a day or more. T-1 can be a couple hours on its own. I have been playing since the 80s when the first game came out. I can remember playing over the whole weekend

Length of Global 1940 games
In our experience some games can go for days. We dont play the Victory City conditions we just get to a point in the war when its clear that one side will win. We usually get to a point in the day where we finish that turn and start with Germany and end with France writing down what each country has and where. We can get a good 6-8 hours of playing in a day and with some games going for days thats alot of hours. Curious to hear how you guys go about games

RE: What to do with the Italians
In most of our games the UK goes heavy on airpower and an airbase in Gibraltar. I think the UK has to put the heat on Italy and not just let them go. We played a game today and i pretty much gave up on Africa but took Yugoslavia, Bulgaria, and Greece with the Italians. I even had Italian units in W. Ukraine and controlled a couple territories in USSR. I had the Germans pushing well into Russia and threatening the Caucasus and have a major complex in Romania. Ontop of that a nice fleet of 5 transports a carrier and destroyer there along with an airbase in Romania gives me some options.

RE: Man, just missed it!
yah really……i couldnt wait to tear into that box. i even paid to have it shipped to me while in Baghdad…i wasnt waiting the year till i got home. Of all the Axis&Allies games and i have the Original , Pacific,Europe,Revisedx2,D-Day,Guadalcanal,Bulge,1942,1941,Europe 1940x2,Pacific 1940x2 that is one of my favs.

Does anyone know for sure how many Anniversary Editions were made?
i purchased my copy back in 2008 while i was in Iraq……had it shipped to me there in Baghdad. I ended up loosing the USA setup card in Agur Quf Iraq after playing a game in the rec center we had. I ended up printing both the USA 1941 and 1942 setups from somewhere but other than that the game is intact.

RE: Any good ideas for Germany T-1?
I sometimes like taking all of France on T-1. I use the mech inf to hit S. France and i hit Normandy with maybe a mech and an arty plus a ftr. The problem with this is it makes the battle for Paris a little tighter. Granted i have never seen anyone fail in taking Paris on T-1 but im sure if you take heavy losses there it could be game over early.

RE: The only reason i bought this game is for the new sculpts
Already have the Global 1940 1st editions……wondering where u can get the new Italian and ANZAC. pieces?

The only reason i bought this game is for the new sculpts
I love all the Axis & Allies games but this is a good game for beginners. I really wanted the German Tiger 1s and the FW-190s. The Russian I-S 2s are nice but i wish they woulda went with the KV-1. At some point i will pick up the Global 1940s for the new Italy and ANZAC pieces.

RE: Unstoppable Germany
I usually go with a US landing a bunch of troops somewhere in Normand or S. France followed by UK landing and reinforcing with troops and fighters. This forces the Gerrys to focus on that front as well. But first you have to cripple Italy in the med. A complex in Egypt plus the UK taking Iraq on T-1 usually works in our games
-
What to do with the Italians
In our Global games if Germany ignores the Med. then Italy usually gets crushed. One game that Italy did well was when Germany built 3carrers in S. France along with an airbase there. Im thinking
of leaving Bulgaria, Yugoslavia, and Greece for the Italians in our next game. Any other good ideas the info would be much appreciated -
Japan more valuable to the Axis powers than the USSR is to the Allies
After many games of the Global 1940……OOB all the way up to A+3 2ND EDITION…it seems that in the games we play Japan is very brittle. Depending on how Europe is going the USA may be going all in the Pacific. This makes it very difficult for the Japanese considering it turns into a 4 against 1 war in that theater. We played a game where i took Moscow but the US just crushed the Japs. It was clear that after Tokyo fell the war was lost. Any thoughts to my theory?

RE: As Russia, is it a good idea to attack Finland?
i happen to like the idea……if its left vulnerable…Sweden(3 ipc) Finland(2 ipc) are worth 5 to USSR plus each is a +3 ipc bonus for USSR for a total of 11ipc…and u take the Sweden bonus away from Germany
-
RE: Any good ideas for Germany T-1?
thanks……i have tried the Romania complex already and have contiplated putting a fleet in the Black Sea…the attack on Turkey and Sweden is risky but the greater the risk the greater the reward.
-
RE: Any good ideas for Germany T-1?
thanks Jeff……the strat. bombing of Moscow is a good idea and i was thinking of a T-1 attack on USSR so that would really cripple the Russian building capacity. I also like building the carrier and transports to keep the UK from just crushing Italy and i eventually use that navy to hit Lenningrad. I also think that Germany has to push towards Stalingrad…more IPCs there plus bonusses…just so many things Germany has to do on T-1 and they cant afford to loose any airpower.

Any good ideas for Germany T-1?
We have played lots of Global A+3 games and we have tried lots if different strategies but against an experienced player it just seems almost impossible for Germany to win. I f the game goes past 8 turns it just seems like by then USSR is a beast. Even with a T-2 attack on USSR by the time u push close to Moscow theres a huge stack there. Anyone have any good strategies?
