      @Tralis:

      I’m just using the old Pacific chart. Kamikaze slider… goes up very high… its working pretty well. The VP track of course isn’t used.

      Good idea, I have the original AAP but I’ll probably just soldier on with the chart they gave us for this game. What really pisses me off is the battle board, some units aren’t on there and then some are there that shouldn’t be!

      Nice work!

      +1 to you.

      Would you please change ‘bomber’ to ‘tach bomber’ or ‘tactical bomber’ in the #3 zone?

      That might clutter it up and I think the icon speaks for itself. IMHO of course.

      Maybe if the Tac Bomber looked like the allies Tach bomber with 2 engines, the icon would be fine…but the Tac Bomber icon and the Fighter icon look similar to me.

      But there should be no mistaking the fighter for the tactical bomber because of the text.

      True that!

      I can’t speak to the rules since I haven’t seen any. As for how you are splitting up the Theatre Maps, it’s a bit unoriginal. And, how does the 3 map system work? Now I have to look in at least 2 different places to see what’s there? Reminds of Third World War by GDW, another game that won’t fit on any table known to man.

      These strategies are very helpful, but still China is such a annoying thorn to the Japanese player.

      Never easy is it?

      Also ignoring China and letting them liberate Kiangsu or Manchuria will negate a Japanese National Objective. It takes almost no effort of Japan’s part to eliminate China. Manchuria and Kiangsu are also great for Japanese ICs. They are on the mainland so they do not require a navy to service them. They also can only be liberated by the Allies, never captured. This means should you loose them, they can not be used to produce units that will be used against you.

      Also consider that Chinese infantry are “free” any other Allied unit in that area had to be bought and brought there. Which is a bit easier said than done. I see no reason not to stomp China flat from the get go.

      @Constantinople:

      OK, so there are only 6 kamikaze attacks total, Japan could conduct all 6 attacks agst one US/UK fleet as it entered one of those specially marked kamikaze zones, correct?

      Correct.

      @Constantinople:

      If it did that there will be no more kamikaze attacks at all on the board again, becz they are now all used up. It is not 6 attacks per zone, right?

      It’s six attacks total for the entire game.

      @Constantinople:

      OK, Japan can use the kamikaze attacks not only when the Allies move on the Allies combat, non-combat?? turn, but also as it combat moves on it’s own turn, correct?

      They can be used after any player’s combat movement.

      @Constantinople:

      And what is different too, is that Japan picks the casualties for each kamikaze hit, correct?

      Correct.  The targets are chosen before any dice are rolled.

      @Constantinople:

      The casualties do not fire back if thay had just entered an empty seazone, correct? They only fire back if there are Japanese naval units present, correct?

      Correct, as there would be nothing to fire at if there are no Japanese units.

      Corsica was Vichy, but in 1942 Hitler got pissed off and took alot of their allowance away because they kept waving white flags when the Allies attacked them. Corsica was administered by Germany but its really in the Italian sphere of influence.

      i know its nov 42, but still close enough… if your more of a purist then just give Sardinia 1 IPC but call the actual land territory

      “Sardinia
      Corsica”

      40 IPC’s. I do it every time I play Japan. I take the PI and all the DEI, Malaya, Borneo & Hong Kong. These = 21 IPC which puts Japan @ 40 IPC’s. If all goes well I do not lose too much units due to Japans 1st round attack advantage. (All Allied units, except the Chinese, defend at 1 on the dice) Tonight I won by VP’s, holding over 40 (I topped out @ 45) for 6 rounds. USA had sunk Japans navy on T5 after I slammed into AUS capital after building up INF & ART for a couple rounds and lost that battle. I pretty much had expanded all my forward units and had started reinforcing the India campaign. By the time the USA started to xport land units it was too late. It was great game w/ a few navel battles that cost both sides alot of hardware! Great fun! My boys are grumbling by being beat by the “ol Man” again.  😄

      Yea, but the beautiful thing about this map is, Germany and Italy are two spaces away from each other.

      Odds are, if one can be counter attacked, then so can the other but neither can just run infantry from one to the other without tanks.

      Another thing that may have happened is too much other activities(island hopping, naval building, teching), and not enough “boots on the ground” grunts heading to the key victory locations.

      We play with four,
      hoping to add another.  We also speed up the game by going all Axis then all Allies.  We are going to add timers, to keep the game moving, we include a 6.5 hour time limit on our games, with pizza and beer, or in my case a shot of whiskey can not be with held.

      ~$8 sq/ft is what I was quoted from several sources as well. So, for a 72x36 you’re looking at a pretty serious outlay of coin. Then you have to seal it.
