RE: Star Wars Rebellion
Wow! Sounds like a great game!
How are you feeling about the balance now?

Young Grasshopper- Have you had an additional games of this here lately?

RE: New player needing advice on what extra pieces to purchase.
We always run out of Japanese mechs, so I found a cheap way to make more: buy orange popsicle sticks from the dollar store, cut them up, and glue the pieces together. It looks like a mechanized infantry truck!
How do you insert an image in these forums?
I upload to tinypic.com and put the link for direct layout into the following code (remove the spaces in the brackets): [ img ]<insert link=“” here=“”>[ /img ]</insert>

RE: Global 1942 Scenario by Larry Harris
In the event anyone would like to see it, I was inspired by the great guru Young Grasshopper and shot a video looking at the setup for my youtube channel.
Hopefully, I’ll get to try this with a real life opponent sometime!

RE: Global 1940 Event in Indianapolis
Well… I initially didn’t want to do a bid because two of the players were completely new to G40.2, and I don’t like using non-standard rules with new players. However, Axis had a stunning first turn due to some great dice rolls and sub-optimal play from the UK player. So Ichabod insisted that the Allies get 20 IPCs to make the game more interesting.
Check out this pic from the event. Let this sink in. These tables are just the regular tables for gaming at the game store :)

RE: Global 1940 Event in Indianapolis
@Young:
Bringing toddlers to an Axis & Allies marathon = EPIC FAIL!
Pretty much…

RE: Global 1940 Event in Indianapolis
It was a good game! Ichabod came up from Louisville to Indianapolis (about a 2 hour drive). We had 4 players altogether. Axis ended up winning. The game was a little distracting because one of the players thought it’d be a good idea to bring his 3 year old to a 10 hour game of A&A… Other than that, everything was great!
My Schwarzenegger Queso was a big hit as usual :)

RE: Issues with Field Marshal Games?
@coachofmany:
I personally have never had an issue with FMG, and I have order like 5 times from them. However, I will probably not order from them anymore…
The main thing I want from them are the combat dice, but HBG never seems to have the ones I need in stock.
I cannot stock items when FMG does not return my emails or phone calls. Sorry.
Not your fault. Hopefully you can get them soon! :)

RE: Labyrinth: The War on Terror/ The Awakening
Volko Ruhnke took a lot of ideas from Twilight Struggle. But the two do play quite differently from each other despite their similarities.

Labyrinth: The War on Terror/ The Awakening
Have any of you all played Labyrinth: The War on Terror or its expansion The Awakening?

RE: New player needing advice on what extra pieces to purchase.
While playing with the paper money is feely and popular, it is a pretty big waste of time
I have to STRONGLY disagree with this. Using paper money/poker chips is part of the Axis and Allies experience! I apologize for being crude with this metaphor, but this is like saying that foreplay is unnecessary when having coitus. It may, by definition, be true, but completely false when lined up with people’s expectations of the experience.
So, paper money/poker ships is pretty much mandatory for a proper Axis and Allies experience :)

RE: New player needing advice on what extra pieces to purchase.
- Do I need to buy more miniatures? What will most probably run out during a playing session?
I haven’t had a problem of running out of miniatures. However, I have bought some neutral infantry pieces from HBG to make my game better
- Do I need more dice?
Extra dice doesn’t hurt
- Do I need more country roundels?
I would say yes. I stocked up roundels until I have 50 for each major power and 30 for each minor power, which is probably over kill.
- Do I need more plastic chips? If yes, what color? HBG offers several colors but having not played the game yet I don’t know what all those colors stand for (blues, yellows, grays, browns etc. etc.)
Definitely! I bought 2 (or maybe it was 3) extra bags of chips from the games off of HBG. That seems to be enough for my games.
http://www.historicalboardgaming.com/Europe-Pacific-40-2-Sealed-Bag-Chips_p_1125.html- I’e read complaints about the lack of game currency and the subsequent need for pen and paper. There are some “battle bucks” on HBG, are they useful? What should I buy to use as currency?
I use and love the battle bucks. A lot of players like poker chips. You should use one of those two methods for money. Writing it all down on paper is lame, and kind of makes me not want to play the game.
- I see other pieces on HBG, plastic factories and other nice looking stuff, please feel free to suggest me what to purchase to make the game more playable/fun.
I love using these as neutral infantry on neutral countries. It’s complete unnecessary, but I love pimping out my games.
http://www.historicalboardgaming.com/HBG-Battle-Pieces–WW2-Neutrals-Basic-Set–Dutch-Infantry-Soldier_p_791.htmlGetting some original plastic industrial complexes might be nice. Search on ebay for these as HBG almost never has them in stock.
I hope this helps! Let me know if I can answer any other questions for you.

Are these all up-to-date? I am going to print a set out for a game on Saturday. :)

RE: Star Wars Rebellion
@Young:
I honestly think more A&A enthusiasts will love this game when they discover it. The scale and production value is tremendous, and the strategy depth evolves after each game played.
I couldn’t agree with this more! It’s my 2016 game of the year.

RE: Star Wars Rebellion
I’m not a fan of those programs. That’s not to say theh are bad. They’re pretty awesome as a matter of fact. But part of the experience for me is the social interaction.

RE: Star Wars Rebellion
All of this Rebellion talk is really giving me the itch to play this… Sadly, players are in short supply around my neck of the woods…
