Because battle calculator doesn’t actually calculate the battle, it just runs a bunch of simulations and tells you the % of times that you won in the simulation. If you never lose in the simulation, then it gives you 100%. For odds things happening that are, say 1/1000 or less then it may be unlikely that the battle calculator simulation will simulate any wins for you.

Heh, I didn’t even see him post it first :)

RE: Can the Chinese fighter attack sea units?
No. Sadly the Chinese fighter can never leave the land.

RE: The case for a single UK economy
I don’t know, I was sort thinking the opposite, that this would make Japan much easier to contain.
This is just off the top of my head, but I was thinking of doing something like
Turn 1: build sea lion defense (infantry) + upgrade India to a major IC
Turn 2 on: build 100% land units in India, perhaps even buying an IC in west India. Use majority of USA money to contain Germany. With that much cash in India, you can probably prevent Japan from ever taking it, and may even be able to push them off the main land entirely. Plus from India you can defend the middle east as well.

RE: Hall of Shame - tales of the worst dice ever
My friend got diced real bad in our last game. I used a Japanese bomber to can open somewhere in Russia for Germany. So, on Russia’s next turn, he attacks it with 2 infantry and a fighter.
My bomber rolled 3 1’s in a row, he whiffed all 3 rounds of combat, and my bomber survived. He was so mad, I actually felt bad for him. At least until he ended up winning the game.

RE: New to the game- is this a good game to start with?
Yeah, using the boxes as cat traps is a good idea. As long as they don’t destroy the boxes (fortunately my cats don’t). But yeah, you have to have someone watching the table at all times, or else you come back to a cat having conquered the Pacific ocean or something like that.

RE: Global 2nd edition Q+A ( AAG40.2)
Honestly I would say that his turn should not have ended, so let him land the planes where he wants. If it ends up making a huge difference to Italy, then re-do Italy’s turn.
I can’t imagine playing with someone who made me lose the planes in that situation. I would quit the game right then. i don’t care if it’s a league game, someone who does that is not someone I would ever want to play with.In our games, when this happens, we let the player land them wherever they want, even if it’s a whole round later. It’s really not a big deal.
Even with convoy raiding, if we forget it until the next round, just roll it then. It shouldn’t make a difference if they lose the money at the end of their last turn or the beginning of their next turn. -
RE: Global 2nd edition Q+A ( AAG40.2)
Aircraft and ships move completely independently of each other.
I like to think of it as once your turn starts, the planes take off of the carriers. They can then move their 4 movement points, and the carriers can move their 2 or 3 movement points. You don’t get to move the planes with the carrier 2 spaces and then planes an 4 additional spaces. They each move on their own. There is an exception though if you have planes on an allied carrier. For example, say the Anzac have landed 2 fighters on a USA carrier.
On the USA turn, those planes are treated as cargo on the carrier. The carrier can move its 2 or 3 spaces and it takes the fighters with them. Then, on the Anzac turn the fighters get their normal 4 movement points. -
RE: Urgent: Blocking ships/non combat moves
1. Yes, you can still move the navy that didn’t participate in combat into and/or through the sea zone during non-combat move. Once all the enemy ships in a sea zone are destroyed, the sea zone is no longer considered hostile and there is no restriction of movement into or through it during non-combat movement.
Also remember that you can ignore enemy transports and submarines when moving through sea zones. They don’t make a sea zone hostile.2. Yes, they can.

RE: Cheesy allied move
In our group we basically house-ruled this out. We play it that Japan can still load troops from a hostile sea zone the first turn it’s at war, even if it was one of the allies who declared war the round before. (Unless all the players in the game agree ahead of time to play it strictly by the book).
I see it as sort of a rules exploit, an unintentional thing from how the rules got written. Usually only the most serious rules readers will ever figure this out, and not allowing it makes the game more friendly for new players playing Japan. Otherwise they might never come back. -
RE: Blitzkrieg?
Well, you still have to do that, because NW Persia is Pro-Allies, meaning that Russia can’t blitz through it. They would still have to take control of it during non-combat.
Germany could blitz through it because NW Persia would be considered hostile, thus they would take it during combat movement. -
RE: Blitzkrieg?
@MG:
Hello all.
Does this mean you can take an unoccupied territory with a tank, and then ‘blitz’ your tank back off the front line? Possibly back into the territory it came from? My friends and I have always played that all blitzing must be into hostile territories….which now seems wrong…
Well, as Krieghund said, when you attack a neutral territory, it becomes hostile, so you can blitz them.

RE: Settle our bet!!!
Nah, I’m pretty sure declaring war happens first on a turn. That’s how Triple A does it at least.
In a face to face game it really doesn’t matter if it happens before or after purchasing, as long as it’s before doing combat moves. -
RE: Minor Threat's Alpha+3.9 (Global 1940) COMPLETE! Setup Charts
Declarations of war happen at the beginning of your turn, before anything else. So yes, that blocking maneuver would work.
However, if you want, you can happily park a whole fleet off the coast of Sydney before you declare war, then next turn attack the capitol. -
RE: Global 2nd edition Q+A ( AAG40.2)
Quick question, is it legal to place a naval base in a territory that doesn’t border a sea zone?
-
RE: Question concerning aircraft
Obviously I’m not an authority figure, but the Dutch are part of the allies at the start of the game, thus you can land planes there immediately just like you can land planes in India. The only special thing about them is that the Anzac or British can take control of them with ground units.

RE: Basic strategy for each country in various situations (A3)
I’ve thought about it a lot, but that 10-30 IPC is just too much for me to pass up. And you can always just put a complex in Kiangsu or Shantung instead, which is almost as good.

RE: Global 2nd edition Q+A ( AAG40.2)
According to the map on TripleA it does.
