No, I did not say he was worse than Adolf, I said ha had a habit to get others in trouble, big difference. My apologies for highjacking your thread
How did Churchill drag Poland into a war?
The whole war in Europe started with Hitler declaring war on Poland over Danzig.
I find it pretty hard to tell which piece is German and which piece is Russian on the eastern front.
They all look grey to me.
Doesn’t help that Austria is grey too.
Is that going to be the final color for Russia? That’d be pretty confusing.
I vaguely remember a post about magnets on the bottom of units (and the chips too I think.) The board was metal, so everything stayed on. Pretty cool.
I think you guys would be interested in this -
The Great War, a YouTube WW1 documentary series.
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCUcyEsEjhPEDf69RRVhRh4A
They do a main episode every week, detailing events of that week 100 years ago.
So it’s still an ongoing series and will be til late 2018.
They also do side episodes on specific topics, at least once a week for that too.
The main episodes are in playlists for viewer convenience too, having each season for each year the war takes place in.
Here’s the playlist for 1914, which is where you ought to start off if you’re interested.

Definitely a worthwhile watch if you are particularly interested in WW1 history, I personally find it a joy to look forward to the next episode every week. Keeping up with the war on a weekly basis.
Lol…I have argued this point since 2009…that it should…I have heard a few reasons as to why not…Surprise attack being the key reason
You should tell your m8s you play with that the Transport is still a unit itself and that the Sub is only striking one target per round.
The only reason transports are removed from the board when they’re by themselves in defensive combat is because rolling for each hit would be pointless since they’d all die anyway.
To further put out that the Transport is still by all means a combat unit in the game and not just some thing to take land units across the sea: If you tried to amphibiously invade an area with just transports and no supporting ships and the enemy has an airbase with fighters who then scrambled… Your transports wouldn’t immediately sink. Since the transports are on the offense, the enemy defenders might miss and you will have a chance to retreat if they do. And if you were invading with 4 transports, you’ll at least have the comfort of at least having 1 of them guaranteed to survive. Unless you were throwing away the game and didnt retreat. lol.
Note though that the German pieces are grey and not the OOB Axis & Allies colour.
I had to replace all my (at that time) German pieces with grey ones because of that.
Though I really dig grey Germans over black/really dark grey.
Was a tad disappointed that the first colors of the G1936 base set don’t include that color.
Looking to do a huge order this weekend. Any promo codes or discounts for large orders?
None that I know of.
Except for redeeming points for a $X code, if you bought stuff from HBG before.
Seems impossible to do.
Have to deal with France turn 1.
Kill Italy turn 3.
But by then, Russia has a giant stack threatening to invade from the east, the Turks they activated from the Balkans,
Western Allies are in Spain, and Japan sends its entire giantly inflated airforce to back up Russia.
I noped right out of there.
April 6th, 1917 - The United States declares war on the German Empire.
What I want even more than the games I’m still missing is more FMG WWII dice. I ordered some years ago, but they were so poorly stocked I could only get Germany, Italy, France, and China.
IWNGU sells FMG stuff now.
They do sell sets of each nation dice, but it seems like they don’t have USSR, USA, UK and ANZAC in stock :\
But they also sell entire sets of all 54 dice:

I’m assuming it’s more of a aesthetic decision than anything else.
Entirely because Yukon Territory seems useless.
British Columbia serves the exact same function as Western Canada,
So Yukon Territory doesn’t really need its own province.
This is the first set that I don’t have a lot of interest in. The only pieces I am really looking forward to are the major and minor factories. I do like the idea of having them in national colors. I think I’m going to pass on the pre-order this time and wait until the factories are offered in sets of 5.
I am really looking forward to the French set. I might do the pre-order on that one.
I’m too much of a piece junkie to pass it up.
Seems this set is supposed to fill in the missing unit gap in Global War 1936 game.
Guess I can tell myself I can use those pieces for that game one day… lol.
I also am very interested in those factories. I can finally get rid of those factory markers.
mr.ch0s, in case you ask me I think its great to get all this different units, even if we dont have mountains in any A&A game that I am aware off, we can always use the mountainman as neutral infantry for Scwitzerland or Sweden, and the cavalry makes for nice Saudi Arabian infantry. I only wish they will make the commanders in nation specific molds at some time, now that would make my day, man
Nice thinking on using them pieces outside of Global War 1936. I might use this idea, lol.
Commanders in nation specific molds?
I… very much like this idea, but it doesn’t seem practical for HBG to do that.
I mean, for a typical set, a person will probably buy more than 1 set so they can have a couple of pieces to use.
Specific commanders, though, you really only need 1 set.
Though now that I think about it, what they could do is add a specific commander to every future set instead of a commander set. That could work out, but the generic commanders in the 1936 set is meant for pre-orders only. They have some commander Global War expansion they’re going to use them for, so the hope for specific commanders seems a little bleak to me ATM.
I love it
Well, sure, but its only up for pre-order now, yeah?
Guess I was more interested in asking what did all ya think about having calvary, partisans, mountaineers and the like?
And also the nation colored factories.
I’ve only played with Murphy’s Law rules once.
Not sure what to say about it, that was quite a while ago.
I don’t have IL’s Eastern Front map.
Yeah, I have the rules printed out.
Got the graphic PDF rules printed out like a sort of high quality magazine, it looks pretty nice.
Its just that people argue semantics about the rules because it Doesnt say that rain rules don’t apply to snow, so yeah.
Its not fun when most of the game is spent arguing about rules.
We know what the Snow rules are, they were just questioning if Snow effects were in addition to Rain effects.
And about the trains, it just seemed a little odd to give Germany such a boost is all.
Guess Russia was too powerful in previous versions.
(Which was another argument >.> …)
When it snows, do rain rules still apply?
I.E. are planes restricted movement to airbases only and all land units move at 1 when it snows?
Also, I notice that the new set up has Russian trains on the border, allowing Germany to capture them.
Is this intentional?
What do ya’ll think about the Global War 1936 Base Set?
Blacky’s WW1 map looks like it has The Great War map from TripleA as a base, then he probably used photoshop or similar software to change it.
ah ok so, nobody knows when this map will be available?
The dude who posted this thread here hasn’t logged in since April.
So, nobody knows.
Nope. Too bad there are no actual Axis and allies style WW1 game. As A 1914 sucks too.
A&A 1914 isn’t so bad.
It’s not as good as I’d like it to be.
But it ain’t bad.
I sort of wonder how printing out The Great War map from TripleA and playing that board would be like.
