Wow! Nice setup! I count 8 air units in Japan. The cardboard stuff is ugly, it took me a while to figure out that one was an anchor. Thanks for the pictures Wild Bill.

RE: Science Fiction/Fantasy Book Forum
Simon R. Green is good easy reading, very similar characters in different books but a great read. I can’t explain it but there is something to be said about a sci-fi/space opera/fantasy for Deathstalker.
As for David Gemmell, yes “Legend” was his first book. I actually started with Druss the Legend, which is the prequel to Legend. It fleshed in the Legend character. Gemmell combines history with fantasy. The strange thing is that it took me a while to get used to his writing but after awhile, I was hooked.
@cannon:
Great idea!
Simon R. Green
- Deathstalker Series “Shandrakor! Shandrakor!” “Deathstalker luck always bad.”
- Nightside Series,
- Hawk and Fisher Series,
David Gemmell (R.I.P)
- Druss the Legend
- Waylander
There are so many others but these two standout (fantasy/sci-fi), along with those mentioned by Bardoly.
cannon fodder,
Thanks for the input!I don’t believe that I’ve ever read anything by Simon Green. What is particularly good about his writting?
For David Gemmell, I remember that I read one of his books 10+ years ago and didn’t really care for it, but I don’t really remember anything about the book. I believe that it was called, “Legend” or something. If I remember correctly, it was one of his first books published. Are his books actually good now? Maybe I should give him another chance.

RE: Where to Buy the Game?
This was the response from Wizards of the Coast Customer Support.
All I asked them was why the Axis and Allies 1942 did not come with enough chips and pieces. You need to buy 2-3 sets to have enough to play a game.
**Thank you for contacting Wizards of the Coast! We place great value in the feedback, ideas, and suggestions of our customers. I assure you that Game Support meets with teams around the company on a regular basis, and we make it a priority that your voice is heard. While we cannot guarantee a direct response, we can promise that your thoughts and concerns are being passed along to the right people.
Also, Wizards of the Coast does not have the ability to sell extra pieces or parts for our Avalon Hill games. The amount of inventory we keep on hand will not allow us to offer extra items if they become lost or damaged due to use. We only have enough product on hand to provide replacements for actual defective products.
Take Care and Good Gaming!**

RE: 6 IPC Tanks and other unit costs
Does anyone know how mechanized infantry will work with transports? Is it still 1 infantry and 1 other unit?
Also, the more I think about, the more I wonder about how effective M-Infantry is in general. Their defense is less than a Tank, their durability is marginally better, and their offense is weaker than that of Infantry! In the mean time, they can’t be transported readily and they can’t be boosted by Artillery. Their only advantage is being a better hit-soak than the Tank, and that only works so long as the Tank either has a cost increase or defense loss from its Revised version.

RE: Lets Talk 2 Types of Tanks
Good point bugoo, I keep forgetting that tanks will cost 6 not 5, I was thinking for 1 more you can get a 3/3/2 instead of 1/2/2. More changes to get used to again.
-
RE: Lets Talk 2 Types of Tanks
True, but when we have stacks, the tanks would be better value. With smaller battles it might not matter as much but with the new boards being gigantic, we might not have stacks anymore, too many places to defend, you might be able to make it to Russia and avoid counterattacks, if you move fast enough. I am still curious if artillery will support mechanized infantry or even if there will be a technology that allows mechanized infantry to be matched to tanks. That would be awesome blitzkrieg!!! Still would like a land transport but this discussion is about tanks.
Honestly I feel the 3/3/2 tank at 5 ipcs is a fair value, esp with mech inf being added in. If you think about it even on attack the mech inf would be a better buy as for 24 IPCs you could have 6 mech inf or 4 armor. At face value armor is a better attacker, but lets add in 2 bombers with the attack. In that situation I think the mech inf come out on top. We will see a return to insane inf stacks in europe anyway with the mech inf unit, they’ll just be a mix of inf and mech inf.

RE: Re: Field Marshal Games Pieces Project Discussion thread
That’s great news, keep us updated, +1 karma to you!
@Craig:
Our choices were limited by the sculpts we could find that were appropriate. Our goal was to offer two types of Tanks/SPG for variety on the board and possible HOUSE RULES.
If you noticed what he said, the “…choices were limited by the sculpts we could find that were appropriate.”.
So they may have wanted to go with another armor unit but could only work with what was available or good enough to be worked into a mold.
I don’t think that they just randomly chose one model over another. Jeremy is a thorough sort and I have no doubt that the finish product will be quite nice.
Thanks Craig! This is true. If you look at the history of this thread… I had an APB out on sculpts from the community for months. We are happy with what we have found so far and I am sure you will be too when you see the finished product. Your board will never look the same again!

RE: Star Wars Quirks
+1 to both frimmel and Jermofoot, that’s hilarious, reminds me of the Drew Carey episode where Drew is trying to win the karaoke contest but ends up with a very young but talented girl as a partner, and she was singing “Do it to me one more time” and you can tell Drew was clearly uncomfortable and the audience was booing because of the inappropriate song.
Just don’t point out The Professional.
Oldman gets a bit over the top but I’ve always rather liked The Professional.
Oh, no I wasn’t speaking on the movie. It’s a great movie.
I meant talking about Portman’s attractiveness in regards of that movie. Dude, she’s twelve.

RE: A non- political 9-11 question
Agreed, a trilogy means three books not four!!! I didn’t buy the third book for Eragon because of that. It was good light reading but not worth the money.
Can’t say anything about Twilight as I have not read any of the books.
Because unlike the golden compass sereis this author had the decency to tie up any loose ends and eliminate ANY sequals. It ends well. the series does I mean. Its better than twilight and eragon. Dont even get me started about how crappy it is that he stretched it out into 4 books…
