RE: Axis & Allies 1941 First Preview
Is there a reason the US starts at 15 IPC’s on the board but has 17 IPC’s worth of territories? Or it an error on the board?

RE: I think it arrived!
That’d be great. Are you allowed to post pictures of the game and sculpts?

Technology rolls for G40
This may have been discusseed before and maybe some people already do this, but I wanted to share my house rule for Tech rolls. I like the AA50 style of getting the keep rolling each turn but thought it was too cheap to get a tech. I don’t like the G40 rule as it seems to difficult to get a tech. The solution we came up with was this. You pay 5 ipcs for a roll and also get a chip. Of course you can buy more rolls and get a chip. As long as you don’t hit a 6, each consecutive turn that country gets to roll again for each chip he has at a cost of 2 ipcs per chip to represent the contiuned funding of a technolgy already in the works. Gives you a discount but also makes it more costly to get that tech. Similar to AA50, once a tech is rolled, you lose the chips and have to start again on the next tech if you want more. You don’t have to pay each time if you can’t afford to fund the roll for a turn, and you can roll the extra rolls for only as many chips as you want. So if you have paid 15 ipcs for 3 chips and the next turn only want to roll for one chip, it is just 2 ipcs and you get one roll. getting a 6 we forfeit all chips though even if you don’t pay for each to roll that turn. Anyways, this is a way we have found more people will try tech rolls. Without it, no one ever seemed to try and that takes away a whole lot of fun. Hope that all made sense. Just wanted to throw it out there to see if anyone would want to try it or if anyone has a house rule to get more tech rolls going in a game.

RE: COMBAT DICE UPDATE - FMG
Excellent! Thank you. I figure he is very busy, and I figured it was probably an error on my part and I was using an incorrect email. I will try the one you gave me. I’ve always had excellent service with him and love his products. Playing tonight and can’t wait to roll those French dice to take out some Germans. At least before France falls in turn 1!

RE: COMBAT DICE UPDATE - FMG
I got my dice and love them. Just had a small problem with my order. I’ve been trying to reach Jeremy at the info@fieldmarshallgames.com email but I am not getting a response. Does anyone know if I am using the incorrect email address or if maybe Jeremy is out of town or something?

RE: COMBAT DICE UPDATE - FMG
I received an email that I have a package on the way! Very exciting. I hope it has my set of French, ANZAC and 2 sets of Elite Germans in the package. Also I hope it has an additional set of French and ANZAC to fill out my Ammo Box. These were ordered at different times, so I fear that some of the orders were lost in translation. I should know tomorrow!

RE: Re: Field Marshal Games Pieces Project Discussion thread
Good point. Maybe I should check that.
Thanks

Hmmmm…I didn’t get a tracking number in my email. I hope that doesn’t mean anything bad.

RE: Field Marshal COMBAT UNITS: ITALY (Pre-release sneak peek)
Looks like a black German Die at the end as well. Nice. Can’t wait to get these pieces and start filling my Ammo box!!

RE: Field Marshal COMBAT UNITS - GERMANY *PRE-ORDER*
It most certainly doesnt hurt the person doing the mailing, that’s for sure. :)
Shipping a parcel from here (just outside of Toronto, Ontario) to let’s say Michigan … 3 inches x 3 inches x 1 inch (obviously smaller than a parcel full of these pieces) that ways 1/10th of a pound would cost (insurance not included, “us expedited parcel 4-5 business days”) would run $17.39 according to the Canada Post website.Ouch.
Ouch is right. I guess we are spoiled here is the US when it comes to some costs. Must be why a larger shipping cost blows our minds. Now if we could only figure out how to not be trillions in debt. Well that’s a discussion for another time! Anyways, back to the subject at hand. Are the Black German pieces going to come after all the other sets have been made? Or just as soon as the grey pieces are gone?

RE: Field Marshal COMBAT UNITS - GERMANY *PRE-ORDER*
The last time I looked at shipping pieces to the US via CanadaPost/USPS, it was going to be almost $10 anyway. Just looking up the smallest package rate with the lightest weight on their website shows how insane some of the costs of shipping are. And that’s not even expedited service or insured/verified. Just regular parcel mail.
UPS from Canada to the US is probably cheaper in most cases.
Shipping a package from the US to Canada via First Class International is not much more then shipping within the US. As long as it can go First Class mail under 13oz. I ship many OOB pieces all over the world via Ebay. My guess is it doesn’t hurt that USPS works at a loss. :-)

RE: Field Marshal COMBAT UNITS - GERMANY *PRE-ORDER*
We struggle to keep shipping costs down. As we are shipping from Canada… I think our prices on UPS and delivery times are quite remarkable (considering it is an international shipment)
We “win / lose” with our flat rate shipping. On some orders we will make $1… others we lose a $1. But I think it is the best we can do for our US customers with access to USPS services (Which operates at a loss by the way)
I completely understand and agree. It made a difference when I realised you were in Canada. I applaud you for the shipping cost now!

RE: Field Marshal COMBAT UNITS - GERMANY *PRE-ORDER*
Thanks KNP. I didn’t realize until you said this that they were based out of Canada. That makes much more sense. I have ordered quite a few things from FMG and somehow it slipped past me they were from Canada. Well, I can’t wait until I have filled my Ammo box with the FMG pieces. Maybe I need to buy other items each time now that I know the shipping is a flat rate!

RE: Field Marshal COMBAT UNITS - GERMANY *PRE-ORDER*
I just pre-ordered 2 sets. Sure miss the pre-order discount and bonus dice offer. $39.99 each seems steep. Then $10.95 shipping on top of that. Ouch. I really want the units, but holy cow. 2 sets for each country and at this rate I’ll have spent 6 times as much on pieces as I did on the original games. Of course I have no idea how much the cost is to make these, but I do know from experience it doesn’t cost $11.00 to ship this to anyone in the continental USA if you use USPS first class with order delivery confirmation. That would cost $2-$3 at most. UPS is just not reasonable for small packages. Before anyone blasts me, I’m not mad and I made a decision to buy these regardless of the cost. I’m just expressing my opinion. I firmly believe FMG deserves to make money on this project based on the time and headaches they have dealt with, and based on HBG pieces at $8.95 for 28 pieces, 150 pieces at $39.99 isn’t far off. It just seems like a bunch when you spend it at one time. And I will buy all the sets, so I can’t be all that concerned. I just felt special when we were given a discount by helping the project with preorders. And Thanks FMG for doing this. i am very excited about pieces. Please don’t read to much into my comments.

RE: FMG Combat dice
I did preorder the dice. i also bought the ammo box. I will be getting the dice for the ammo box too, correct? I believe you already said this, but I just want to make sure.

RE: Re: Field Marshal Games Pieces Project Discussion thread
I can’t wait to perorder my Germans.
I also am very excited about the French and ANZAC Dice. Seems wrong to roll for those countries with anything but their own dice.
The day is approaching…I wonder if the Italians do better in the game with the new improved pieces. Well at least until the others arrive. :-) -

RE: WW3
Very exciting. I like this idea very much. Are the Nuke rules coming? I really want to try this.
I’ve been working on a what if the USA and Russia just kept fighting each other after the defeat of Germany. I hope to post something soon.
I also have a crazy variant I’m working on where there can be random Zombie outbreaks during a regular A&A 1940 game. Kind of a tech upgrade gone bad idea. So if anyone is interested in either of those let me know and I will start a thread so as to not hi jack this thread.
Anyways. I really want to try this variant, so keep the rules coming. Thanks for your hard work!
