@Battling:
Ill be up to post again if you do
I’ll try to post a little later.
This is going to have to wait until tomorrow, sorry
'Sup! Been almost two years since I’ve played (coincided with child #2), looking for someone to play AA50, '41, NO, no tech…it would be my first such game, so ideally against someone similarly inexperienced with AA50, but also more than happy to be taken to school by the more experienced players…
No big pressure to play fast, my game play will likely be slower during the week, faster on weekends.
Cheers,
RD
PM sent.
Thanks very much, both of you. I don’t have the AA40 games yet and so I wasn’t aware of the fact that Fighters escorting Bombers were no longer subject to AA Gun fire. That’s a great rule and I will house-rule it from now on. Cheers! :-)
The rule change probably stems from the fact that the interceptors would engage the escort /bomber before the actual target hence no AA activity. Escorts would have to drop tanks to engage the interceptors forcing their premature return only leaving surviving bombers to face flak when they reach their target.
Okay, I think I read that post awhile back but was un-aware of it’s validity.
AC
Cal is correct. That NO is essentially a joke early on in the game
Firstly… Is Germany available to deny Russia their Archangel NO at G1 prior to declaration of war and on?
I’m not sure I understand the question
Secondly… Can a captured AA gun move on the turn it was taken?
AC
Captured AA guns change ownership at the end of the turn so they are not subject to non combat movement
When I played it was almost always with the same two people so I usually got stuck with Germany. I got to play the US once and that was a lot of fun.
Krieghund has asked me to sub in for him while he’s gone this week.
Those are some big shoes to fill. I know you’ll be up to the task. :-)
@ABWorsham:
Wow, this is a great post. I would have never thought that payments were still underway.
Just think, it may take our kids longer to pay off their college loans. :evil:
I just pick this up last week and after about 5 games I can say yes. I would warn them however that playing the Allies takes a lot of tactics and maneuvering!
-Phil
There definitely is a learning curve for the allies.
@Imperious:
Yea perhaps AA50 was the best quality, but that was $80 bucks, MB AA was like $25-30 in 1984 dollars, perhaps its close.
Actually, Classic was more like 40-50 bucks in the 80’s. I think I paid 44.95 for mine from toys r us in the mid to late 80’s. I still have another copy in shrink wrap that says 39.95. I think I picked this up in the mid 90’s.
IMO, currently, I think AA50 is the best of the lot. Although I have not played much global it looks like it may be too big and almost impossible to play f2f in one sitting. Plus, adding territories does not necessarily make something better. Imagine how interminable Risk would have been if it had 84 instead of 42 territories. I guess we’ll see. I also like the original Pacific. 7-9 turns and you were done. I miss my marines.
couple more pics of the table
A very nice job indeed Kris. You may want to consider some plexi to cover the map. Can’t
tell from the pix wether the map sections with the game boxes below are supported throughout or just on the borders
@Imperious:
wow great thread!
Should i sticky this?
Brain Damaged would have loved this !!!
@JWW:
Just a reminder to everyone out there. The 2010 League is quickly drawing to a close. In order to advance to the playoffs please review the rules below.
**6 - You must have completed a game within 90 days (after Sept. 15) of the end of the season to be eligible to win or advance to the title game.
7a - The Regular Season for each league will end on Dec. 1 and the standings will then be posted. Games must be completed prior to this date in order to count.
7b - Any games in progress that are completed after this date will be eligible to count for the next league (2011) assuming league rules remain the same or are similar. **
Title Game :? I’m hoping to break my '42 league cherry by then. :lol:
Probably can add
- tanks costing 6 now kills germany. It was bad enough taking moscow in aa50 with only 3 territories between germany and moscow, but look at how many more territories there are now. Only an idiot would lose ussr in this game.
LOL
You can’t even mobilize ground units on YOUR OWN transports, let alone an ally’s. You also can’t mobilize your fighters on an allied carrier.
Good point gamerman…I didn’t even think of it. :mrgreen:
It can be done, but not in one turn. The UK units must load on one turn then unload on the next. The transport must act on the US’s turn, even if it just moves within the sea zone.
Actually Kreig, the question should be can UK units be mobilized onto US trannies sitting in the Channel ? I would think they’d have to be mobilized in England and board the transports on a subsequnt turn although I’m not sure this would be the case with a UK ftr being mobilized on a US cv in the Channel.
